Signatures

Often, you need to prove ownership of the account with a PGP or Bitcoin signature. This has two steps:

 1. You need to show that the PGP key or Bitcoin address is associated with the account, for example by referencing an unedited post in which you posted the address.
 2. You need to sign an appropriate message with that key/address.

For example, this is an example of an appropriate proof of ownership:

Note the following elements:
 - The message contains the username, the desired new email, and the current date.
 - You specify the address.
 - You include a signature.
 - You link to the association between the address used for signing and the account.

It was definitely the right first step.
Now you have to have a little patience. Someone from the recovery team will get back to you.
Under certain circumstances it works without PGP or staked address.

With details you gave us in OP, you lost that account some day in 2018, 3 years ago. If you still have access to the email which was used to register your account, it is the first step to move next.

You don't have any PGP key or signed message so the recovery process will be more difficult for you.

Have you ever posted any bitcoin address on the forum before the hack in 2018?
Have you still been access those adresses today?

Account recovery is a lot much quicker than it was in the past. The Most important thing is access to the original email address you used for registering your account. I also managed to recover my account minus a signed message from a bitcoin address or PGP key

A few days ago, Frost also managed to recover his account too.

Let's just way for a few days and see if they will reply to you with more instructions.

XRP I haven't attempted recovering yet (long story).

I think it should be obvious that it's me if there's any public IP log. The hacker is from a foreign country, and I have a public IP from the same state that I originally posted. I also have all of the bitcointalk emails in my gmail account. The original email I signed up as, literally has my name in it which I can verify.

Post from other sources are not really accepted as proof of ownership, AFAIK, you need to sign in a message from one of your previous used bitcoin address from current date.

You have already contacted the team. Now you have to be patient and with a bit of luck the original email address including other data (info will be sent to you by email) will be enough to get the account back

I doxed myself to get my account back. It's incredible that I have to go through this... Use some common sense, interview me on bitcoin mining or the history of my account. I have the same username on multiple websites for 9+ years (sent proof), I have the same ebay account and email address used on the original account. The piece of shit hacker has a yandex email and is from australia... I am from the US. There's a scam posted in the signature that he put after hacking the account.

If you have done everything according to the instruction, then be patient and wait for theymos response. You know, people will probably never interview you just to verify that it's the account you have. If you have a message signed from a bitcoin address or PGP key, then you don't need to say it's the real you because it's proof that can be used as proof of ownership. So just wait patiently because now you have hope of getting it back. Read this post carefully.

You do not really have to go through this (there is no part of the recovery process that requires doxxing yourself), you've already submitted your details to the recovery team so you just have to wait to see if the team would request any further information.

No one has the time to interview all cases of  hacked users personally by going through their post history, or checking usernames on multiple platforms.
