Do you think that there should be a page or pages about the BTC to gift card options? Bitrefill.com / coinsbee.com / egifter.com etc. Part of me thinks it would be good, another part thinks that if you list some but not all it might be looked at as favoritism when it just comes down to lack of time to find them all and list them.

What I might end up doing is making an exhaustive search for all gift card selling sites but a big problem with trying to find them all is that how can I be completely sure that none of them are scamming (some fraudsters pretend to make gift card stores to scam people). So the most logical approach would be to write a page for each of the major and minor stores, and then finally make the compiled list, complete with inbound links back to Bitcoin Wiki pages.

A line that says something like, these are the gift card sellers that have been established for a period of time that have earned the communities trust. There are others out there that may or may not be legitimate. The other issue that I see is that there are some that although legitimate are viewed very poorly in the community and on this forum by some people. bitpay.com comes to mind. Side question, I have a few other thoughts about updates. Do you want them all in one post or separate ones? I figure separate one are better, this way we can discuss each one separately and others can reply without it becoming a mess. This is why I brought up the pools in one post and gift cards in another. -Dave

I used to batch the updates all in one post but that became cumbersome to do so I gradually moved to write all the updates without all the formalities and procedures since nobody really reads edit history in the first place. (The OP todo list is also woefully out of date which I have to fix) But about suggestions, better to lump them all in one post unless the suggestions start taking a whole screenful of space. Most people don't follow up on this thread replying anyway so it's not too big of a problem.

I can't seem to edit that page, it appears to be write-protected for administrators only. See the padlock symbol on the top left of the article.

New pages OP_CHECKMULTISIG and OP_CHECKMULTISIGVERIFY (a redirect to the other page) were just made! Next up in line is OP_CHECKSIGADD Much easier than scanning a ton of links or updating graphs IMO, but those will also be taken care of in due time

I just have one minor change to propose, for the Difficulty calculation that's currently shown here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty#How_is_difficulty_calculated.3F_What_is_the_difference_between_bdiff_and_pdiff.3FYou can compute the difficulty in a much simpler manner, at least in C and C++. #include <cmath>
double difficulty(const unsigned bits) { const unsigned exponent_diff = 8 * (0x1D - ((bits >> 24) & 0xFF)); const double significand = bits & 0xFFFFFF; return std::ldexp(0x00FFFF / significand, exponent_diff); }
In C, just change cmath to math.h and std::ldexp to ldexp. The ldexp() function lets you scale by a power of two almost for free, by directly adjusting the exponent on the floating point number. Thus, the difficulty calculation gets reduced to a couple integer arithmetic steps, single floating point divide, and a single scale-by-power-of-2. This should be quite a bit faster than what's currently on the Wiki, and it's far more direct. No need for multiple floating point multiplies or an expensive floating point exponentiation.

Thank you! Because of such enthusiasts Bit-Wiki still value. Do you think it makes sense to make detailed instructions on how to enter the IRC channel and leave it in the message thread about the edit request? I couldn't figure out how IRC works on my own. See ya!

See ya! Yeah, a short page explaining how IRC works, how IRC clients work, how Freenode works (because this channel is hosted on Freenode's password-protected IRC server), and where you can download them from, would probably make life easier on would-be editors who are trying to get verified who have never used an IRC client or even heard of it, but it would have to be placed near the front page for them to see it, otherwise it just becomes another obscure article like the many orphaned pages already on the wiki.

For the PayPal page: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/PayPalShould probably add the fact that you can now buy & sell BTC if you are in certain countries but you cannot withdraw. Also a page for RobinHood is needed since you can buy & sell there too. But also still not withdraw. Probably need a page for John McAfee....just not sure what to put there.... -Dave

Everyone:
Sorry for the delay it's taking to put changes on the Wiki, and the huge backlog of changes as a result. I'm still adjusting to life on the terminal (in case you haven't heard, I'm browsing through lynx now), and I'm still trying to get a grip on MediaWiki syntax since I got no WYSIWYG editor no more.
It's quite difficult, I still have my credentials and they should still work even through a terminal browser, thanks to the PHP-minded nature of MediaWiki kind of sites, and sooner or later we will be rolling new changes and additions off the conveyor belt.
Godspeed. - NotATether

Slightly off topic but you might want to go to Wikipedia and look up the term masochist. I guess I missed the post where you were talking about computing like it was 1985.
Back on topic, do you think there should a 'prioritization' of some changes over others. Or, do you just want to take them as they come in?
Prioritization does lead to more discussion, which means more of your time. As they come in means something important that should have been changed in 2020 is still showing and might be there a while.

When I saw your suggestion I had in mind the Talk pages that are associated with each wiki page, but this won't work here because its so hard for people to get edit priviliges there. So maybe a google doc or something like that would be a good alternative. Prioritization in the OP is necessary though, but I'm not sure how I will arrange time for that. Most likely I'll keep it all in my head and leave the suggestions as they are in the thread, for now.

For the PayPal page: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/PayPalShould probably add the fact that you can now buy & sell BTC if you are in certain countries but you cannot withdraw. This particular adjustment has been published (along with the up-to-date news about withdrawals). From now onwards I will mark each completed request with (1) merit, so make it easier for me to see what still needs to be done. Edit: @DaveF can you give me some more gift card services links? I already listed some on my Wiki talk page (pending page creation) but I got unstable power here
