Electron Cash error

Ive been having trouble sending Bch from ledger live (nano X). People recommended using electron cash. I was having problems with that as well. All firmware and apps are up to date. BCH address is in correct format.
Tried to login in EC today with nano and came up with a message that never appeared before:
Electron Cash cannot pair with your Ledger.

Anyone have insight as to what to do to correct this.  TIA

Connect to Ledger device
"Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
Open the Bitcoin Cash app.
Launch Electron Cash from your applications folder. The install wizard opens.
Leave the default wallet name and click Next.
Select Standard wallet and click Next.
At the keystore screen, select Use a hardware device and click Next.
Select your Ledger device and click next.
Leave the derivation path as default (m/44'/145'/0') and click Next.
Your addresses are generated and voilà! Your account balances are shown in the History tab. You can now manage your BCH from your Ledger device using Electron Cash."

You may have a problem with the software on your computer.
Install ledger nano x app on your phone and try to transfer coins

Doesn't work with ledger mobile app either. I did a restore on the nano x and now if I try and connect to electron it says unable to pair with ledger device.
