Nope. It must only happen to shitposters. But if it starts happening to anyone else, I'm sure they'll us know.

It is not possible for posts to be deleted without members being informed, if moderators want to delete post, a message will be sent to user's email to notify him, also immediately he will got a notification message on his account on this forum about it. But there are some reasons moderators will not send notification or email, if the user is a shitposter, he will just be banned and his post will all be deleted as it has not usefulness.

Incorrect, if the moderator delete the thread then you may not get a notification about the deletion. I think a notification will be received by the user if the moderator only delete one or more post from that user. The user will receive a notification for every single post that is deleted (not the thread). This has nothing to do with shitposter or not, you just have to pay attention to it.

OP, I got it several time after posting on low value thread. I realize it because most days I check my previous post history to see who responded to my post.

It happens to me all the time, because I often respond to threads that are braking the rules (and then I report them :-D ). Someone has to inform the confused OP to read the rules after all. Those threads quite often get deleted after days and sometimes I forget that I post on such tread and then notice the decreased posts. If you notice a post decrease you can quick check the modlog.php to see which threads got deleted lately (im my case I check the report history), and you will find in which one you posted. Everything is documented, it's just takes time to find it. Smiley

There's one other situation apart from the thread deletion: moderator post merging, which I believe has been happening more commonly now especially with consecutive posts and the like.

Yes, but usually it only happens if the whole thread is deleted rather than specific posts.

On a side note, there should be option to delete your own thread/post on all condition (locked thread, located on archival section, etc.).

Normally i noticed that sometimes if a thread is started by a newbie and for some reason it is deleted (thread topic being misleading or scamming) , it got deleted and therefore our posts also gets deleted in that thread and we do not get the notification of the deleted posts. If you see a fresh thread by newbie, just give it sometime to see if its stays or not. Usually the thread get deleted within few hours and if it does not then it wont be deleted. That's my observation.

If you use TryNinja's telegram bot notifier you would be notified whenever your post gets lost as a result of the op being trashed, deleted or nuked:

I was also preoccupied with deleting my posts for a while. But then I realized that sometimes moderators can delete an entire topic that was opened by a newbie and contained plagiarism. Therefore, I try not to trust newbies who open topics. Moreover, by the style of writing a post, you can sometimes immediately determine that its text has been copied.
I created a thread about this. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5298807.msg55795578#msg55795578

Yep, that's almost always the reason in my experience.  You'll get a PM if either a moderator or a self-moderator deletes one of your posts, but you don't get a PM if an entire thread you've posted in gets nuked.

So if you're posting in spam-laden sections like Altcoin/Bitcoin Discussion, don't be surprised if your post count isn't always what you think it should be.  It's happened to me quite a few times before, and it's one of those things you just kind of have to accept.  IMO it's a good thing that mods delete shit-threads or those that otherwise have no reason to exist anymore.

Yes, I am familiar with that but very rarely. Most of the time I report such as spam threads when I feel that posts should be deleted instead of replying there. Since we are human sometimes I encounter post delete without notice and it happens when the whole thread got deleted. Anyway, this isn't a big issue IMO. You may avoid such as deleting issues by avoiding reply on obvious spam thread and help forum to keep clean by report spam post.

@BADecker
If you're basing it solely on the number shown as your post count then in addition to the above comments, there are certain bugs that lead to inaccurate posts counts and to combat that issue, theymos has an automated [AFAIK] recount system in place [not sure about its frequency but usually, it's a few times in a year].

I did a recount of post counts earlier today. There are several bugs which cause the post count to drift from its real value over time. The current count is the accurate one.
I do recounts from time to time.

Only individual and reported posts that are deleted by the moderators are being notified to you but you won't get any notifications if the whole thread where your post is deleted. And if you ask, you aren't the only one experiencing this as if you are one of the members who typically posts in generic/off-topic/spam megathreads you will definitely see your post count dropping without any kind of notice from the mods. If you are somehow annoyed by that then you should be avoiding topics that are worthless or considered spam.

You're right, I was there and it failed me to get paid for the campaign at the time. The reason it make sense for this case is when I post something in the thread which is classified as spam and of low value. When moderator delete such thread, it doesn't give us any notification. I have currently received 144 message from the forum on email and also PM just because of post deletion even though I am very sick of saying it and I believe those are all post that have been reported for deletion.

I'm not taking BADecker off ignore to respond to this thread, but I think he should consider himself lucky he gets to post here at all. His posts (largely) contribute nothing of value to the forum, and certainly don't further the discussion of Bitcoin. He's lucky I'm not a mod.

sadly not true.

if you post on a thread 🧵 of a different member and that thread is deleted you go poof.

Which sucks if you put in a lot of effort to answer or reply to the thread.

This happens in the btc mining section which practices quite a bit of coinism

or btc supremacy.

So many posts and thread in that section get deleted in the name of btc purity.

It is unfortunate and frankly I don’t like the censorship .

If i spend a 1/2 hour writing up 🆙 an analysis of watts per coin to  usd ratios and it gets deleted I get pretty angry.  Many people don’t understand how and why eth watts per coin earnings are possibly boosting btc price and at the same time dropping btc difficulty.

To me that analysis belongs in the btc section. but it could be deleted at any moment due to strict btc only rules in the mining section.

You mean the first post on a thread right? Obviously yes because when the first post itself is against rules or offtopic then nothing to discuss anything further, just everything will be trashed and only the thread creator might be notified apart from that everyone have to keel track on their own or just don't concentrate on your post counts.

Yes, the Admin/Mods when they have a vendetta against a user will scroll back through that users posts - most often years old (especially when the user was new/near new) and will then "nuke" the creator of a thread which causes all subsequent posts to be deleted. Most times it'll go unnoticed as those nuked are usually inactive and can't defend themselves.

You won't get a notification that your posts have been deleted (apart from everything else a thousand UID's can be affected).

There were a handful of threads late last year where users documented their post counts had gone down.

A while ago I noticed the phenomenon occur to my own account, commented on it and LoyceV also observed my post count wasn't going up when I made the comment.
