Hi Bitcointalk community,

I am about to renovate my garage to install mining rigs. I read that it's recommended to install ceramic tiles on the walls. Is it because the heat of the mining rigs will eventually damage the gyprock on the walls?

Also I asked my building contractor to soundproof my walls and ceiling in my garage. He recommended me roxul wool or polyurethane foam. Do you know if it's good options to soundproof my garage ?

Thank you so much.

Not to discuss the effect of heat on plasterboards, but this makes no sense, if your mining room is hot enough to damage anything, it will simply damage your miners first, if you design and build a farm with proper ventilation the place can't get too hot, I used gypsum board on one of the smalls farms I built and had zero issues.

Thank you mikeywith for your reply.

I am waiting for my CPU and SSD from postal mail to build my first mining rig. I was wondering do I need to consider installing an extract ventilation system if I am about to run only one mining rig (6 GPUs) in my garage ?

Thanks

rockwool or roxul plus is a excellent product over pink insulation.  better R value for same space as pink.  Which translates to better sound proofing.  there is also a PINK poly foam that is even better for insulation but I am unsure if its a better sound proof due to its density.  its also more expensive

the ceramic tile for anti static maybe?   wood does the same thing and its alot cheaper.   tile echos like no tomorrow  horrible for sound proofing

And if you are getting the room hot enough to harm the gyp rock then its on fire.

As a former contractor if you goal isn't actual insulation and only sound proofing then insulate the walls of the garage that are in contact with the house itself and leave the outside walls without insulation.  One fresh (hopefully cool) air input and One exhaust fan Out

Even at 100°c per gpu such heat won't do any damage to the wall but the gpu itself, you aren't planning to run a furnace of fire mate so your point is meaningless

Also why using soundproof? That's a total waste of money

lol how the earth mining room will damage the wall?, ambient room wont reach above 50c, even hot from solar sun wont damage the wall,

yeah nice clean using ceramic all the way, easy to clean and low maintenance, soundproof more sense to me

Mining isn't running a bakery  Grin, the heat generated from mining rigs is not that powerful to affect your walls, any setup you made is fine, the only thing that mining rigs can destroy is your sockets and wirings, if your rigs is up to 20amp power use 40amp

I have video cards in the garage, and the best option for walls is concrete or brick walls.
Sound is perfectly absorbed, and soundproofing can be installed on the door, if necessary. You definitely do not need to use carpets, wood and other materials that can burn. Your ceiling will be the hottest, but this problem is solved by installing ventilation, depending on the number of video cards and your climatic zone.
