Here in Belgium we had a turning back counter for the people who have solar panels.
Now they have abolished that so I have every day from 8 am to 6 pm in the spring and in the summer from 6 am to 10 pm about 1500/2000 watts of electricity in surplus
I thought I'd start mining.
I now have on my game pc nicehash OS running in the day.
Since I am a beginner (2 days) is it a good idea to invest a little more in a few GPU's or is it not worth it anymore?
it does not have to be a high amount, 100, 200 euros is more than 0 euros and the solar panels are there anyway

PS I also do not want to put 1000 euros in something I started 2 days ago, with time I can have more budget if there is more confidence

Thank you

Attempting to buy a halfway decent GPU right now for a reasonable price is quite difficult.   there is a worldwide shortage of good gpus.   halfway decent gpus are selling for 3x and 4x normal prices.  If you cannot get your hands on a decent GPU.  Instead consider CPU mining

If you like mining and want to learn something, then you can buy several video cards. But better collect a new farm for 5-6.
Install 2 video cards first, then buy 3-4 more.
You won't be able to quickly recoup your investment now, but it can become your additional income if you have cheap electricity.

Well, you have one big step up compared to other miners. Not having to spend money on electricity will make you more profitable in mining, that's for sure. However, you are starting too late, meaning you face a very high GPU price, it is a minus point  Roll Eyes GPUs are overpricing for their value, so it's not wise to buy a GPU right now, as it will take a long time to get that money back. You have to consider whether it's really worth buying a GPU right now. I have a couple of guys who are miners, he says we shouldn't buy GPUs now, it's too expensive.

However, it is just my suggestion, you should think carefully about this. Because if you do nothing, it means you get nothing. Choose the right time to buy a GPU, not now. Your power supply is there even if you're not tapping, so just wait  Wink

okay don't buy a card.  first tell us what cards you have.

you may be able to mine with a card you possess rather than over pay.

you are kind of getting a small amount of free power.

buying a pc may be smart vs buying cards

CPU mining? Do you know that not all CPU are profitable for mining today? The ones that are profitable like AMD Ryzen and thread ripper are more costly than even a GPU, I don't see the big difference and also gpu is just better when it comes to ROI, another good idea is to buy used CPU maybe

AMD CPU threadripper  3990x is the best CPU for mining Monero today and it can bring only 4$ in 24hrs, this CPU costs over 3000$ and some sells for 4k, to me its not worth it if compare to GPUs even at high price presently, a RTX3090 costs 2500$ today and can do 12$ per day, the GPU wins here but still none is a good investment plan right now, way too overpriced

sure there you can afford it but in some places with no electricity it would not be that easy

You aren't doing your calculation right, even a i5 2400 which is a second gen intel CPU can bring you 2$ presently mining randomX algorithm (Monero) as old as this CPU is it does 800+ h/s on monero, it's more power hungry though so if you have free electricity why not?

total kw/day from solar if only 1.5-2kw so not worth it if you really depend only from solar, and the peak from solar only 5hr/day if you leaving alywas sunny like in texas lol

adding more solar and tied to grid more stable for running 24hrs mining, you need big battery for non-tied grid, try using some tools to calculate kw/day from your solar, its cheap only 30$
putting on rj45 mppt

You could buy an old inefficient ASIC miner on the cheap like an L3+.  They're not really worth running anymore if you have to pay for the electric, but if the electric is free, sure.

I disagree with your thoughts. You cannot buy an item that someone else has thrown away. Right now, the GPU is the most sought after thing. Their costs doubled or even tripled. So why are there people who want to sell it? It was simply because its value was no longer there. Don't buy anything right now, especially second hand, you don't know when it will go wrong, you don't know how much it can bring you. But one thing I know for sure, it will cost you a lot of money to buy it, not worth a try  Undecided

Mining is no longer a hobby, it is a good business
If you want to compete with other miners, then you must have either cheap (free) electricity or the ability to purchase equipment at a bargain price.
You can buy an old ASIC and try to make $ 30-50 a month until it breaks.
But if you don't have a business plan, then you will be disappointed.
