I can hear a rain like sound coming from my bedroom window, but it's not raining

It's almost 2am and this is the first time it's happened in my house it started about an hour ago and stops for 2-3 mins and comes back louder.. what the heck is going on?

Could be the house just settling. Even old houses just like to creak and groan in funny ways. The ground is always shifting and moving a “breathing” if you catch my drift, and the houses all have to move with it!

It could also be insects, eg wasps or bees or wood worms settling inside the wooden frame of the window.

Sometimes it could be a big street cockroach in the room.... they sound like tictictic like raindrop sound

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Woke up at 2am and could hear rain/hail against one specific window, but it was completely clear outside.
The inner pane of the sealed unit had cracked from some sort of stress, and the sound was the broken pane splintering and cracking under its own weight. Check weather you have a hard-to-spot crack in the glass near the window-frame?

Or maybe a water spicket for the hose pipe might have froze and cracked.

When i was in my late 30's , i experience a Sounds Hearing before i finally fell asleep and then after hearing a Sound this brings me Bad Nightmare.

But as i grow older it starts to fade away, Maybe this is the same experience as yours ?

Give your time to relax before sleep, enjoy the moment. If you hear a sound or anything, just accept it and do not deny or feel bother. Just accept it, and let your body and mind get a rest. Maybe you can visit your doctor and ask him about your experience.

Very easy.

Check it and stand beside the window and see if someone is tripping you on that very time. But if there's no one that's doing that, there could be a leak from the roof or anything at the top of your window.

sometimes we don't know what's going on around and the sound of rain like the OP alluded to is a new thing I hear. honestly, I wonder if the sound is really like the sound of real rain. *@OP, pray before you sleep

are you rasing a hamster? I used to experience this, when I wakened my roommate and turned on the light, at last we located the noise and found out it's my hamster biting the edge of his box home...it sounded like little rain drops tapping my window

The neighbor on the floor above hung up his wet socks to dry. Drops of water flow down, knock on the windowsill, and it seems to you that it is raining. Do not be overwhelmed. By morning, the socks will dry and the knocking will stop.
