I doubt they'll ban that user. but a mod probably would delete it if someone or you reported the post(but I am not certain).

just a note the forum refrain from silencing free speech as much as possible so this is probably won't be the last time you'll see offensive remarks or an insult here in the forum. my only tip is to thicken your skin up and ignore them or just report the post if you find it off-topic and unnecessary or it is not adding anything to the discussion.

I can't find the answer in the OP so I'll ask here. Is racism allowed on the Bitcointalk forum?  

I have reported a few posts that are blatantly racist, but I see that they are classed as falsely reported.  I won't report it anymore if it is allowed on the forum, seems pretty crazy to allow it though in my opinion.

Allowed as long as it's not the only part of the post. Racist remarks along a constructive post (arguments, reasons) are allowed as if he wants to make himself look stupid, we don't want to stop him from doing so. However, if it's just a personal attack, then it will be deleted.

Race wasn't mentioned in that comment, though I can see how you'd think it was made because the guy is black.  I don't understand the second part "Good luck tracking your assholes, yo".  I probably don't know the context, however.

In any case, I seriously doubt that post will get deleted.  This forum is big on free speech, which includes speech that offends you.  If you think someone is a racist and don't care for the comments he's making, you've got the option to use the ignore button.  I'd also advise growing a thicker skin if you plan on sticking around the forum, because there's no telling when someone is going to write something that could be offensive. 

Nowhere is it claimed that bitcointalk is going to keep you free from discomfort.  I'd also add that if you don't like what that user wrote, you can always challenge him in a post of your own.

Actually, you can also take it as the user is referring the profile created for the project is fake because most of the projects works in that way but only the user who commented on that can give on what context he posted a comment like that.

This is not a post that deserves to be moderated. If you go to the "off-topic" section you will find many discussions full of hate against a religion. Check out the user Sputnik for example to see what I mean

Racism is not moderated on this forum. You can report it as trolling but it is very unlikely to be deleted.

Nor is that post racist to begin with. People reading that post and thinking "it's because he's black" probably are.

Do we have to think they are racist comments because they are directed to a black person? Because they are two different things. One thing are derogatory comments to a black person and another thing are comments to that same person for the fact of being black.

Yea, this. I really don't know and I'm definitely not defending him/her, but the dude might've said the same thing if it was the case that a white/asian guy was in the pic.

You probably didn't notice it because you're not constantly focused on identity politics and race issues like so many people are these days.  It's fine to be anti-racist, but in the end you're not going to change someone's viewpoint and IMO censorship isn't the answer--especially for an ambiguous comment like the one in the OP.

With that said, seriously, just report the reply and move on.

In this particular case I wouldn't even report it, especially since racism isn't moderated on this forum.  Members are generally free to say things that might offend you, and as long as they're not blatantly trolling the moderators aren't going to do anything.

There's always going to be something like this everywhere, especially on the internet.  No one is saying that "that comment" is okay, but it's generally Cryptotourist's opinion on how that person looks. Knowing that Forums are for discussion, mostly, arguments would go against your view, and you might feel attacked on it. And again, there's no specific reason that it is a racist remark, but those who interpret it like that will think that it's a racist thing.

You can always report to the moderator if you feel like it needs to be deleted, but it would depend on the moderator whether or not he/she will delete it once reported.

Obviously what the screenshot portray is not good but as you can see there is no direct comment about the racism as there is no foul or concrete and direct hit to the photo. OP is the one interpreted as racism this case but you can noticed yourself that it's not.

What could be done here better is ignored the guy commented and move on. It's not like racism is added on the rules to be followed but to be a good user here it's just simply common sense not to be like that. Right?

You can't determine the actual footage either the remark is an improper mentality or not. Every individual posses different perspective regarding this topic and we can't underestimate none of the things. I feel somehow OK regarding the comments, since here almost everyone holding sarcastic manner. However, I truly go against with the word of "racism".

I have read it a few times but I can't classify this as a racist remark. If the picture didn't show a black man and instead showed a white guy, would you have made this thread? Someone even commented in the thread you linked to that Cryptotourist (the person who wrote the comment) is black himself. Whether or not he is, I don't know.

Well, we can meet a lot of that kind of user here in the forum. Trust me there are many in the likes of them here but you should not take them seriously. Thermy are just nothing to worry about if you get bullied. Remember that digital world is prone to this kind to act fast and easy just a click away then the whole world will going to know how yoi had been treated by the others.

In that case as what the OP had stated, it is clearly nothing against racism but the user was bully and judgemental. So, there is nothing to worry about racism. I know that the we come to fair when it comes to races and no race is above of the other. What important is how you do and achieve things just take Ex President of the USA Obama which has gone achieving extra miles for his countrymen. I even look up to that man and he has my snappy Salute!

We have seen countless of dramas here especially when you go to the Reputation Board, and these kind of insults has been one of the topics, it's not appropriate  for a ban, as the only thing you can do here is to ignore the guy.

Freedom of expression is fine, but discriminatory measures and attacks on the person are all forms of offences that have as their motivation or effect to harm the physical or psychological integrity of others is clearly justiciable and can lead to financial penalties, so Bitcointalk could "have" a certain "responsibility" by letting this kind of behavior repeated without the slightest distancing, sanction, penalty undertaken against users who do not respect the law.

It is outrageous to read such behavior, as if this forum is a vent for repeated insults (see its user history https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2461690;sa=showPosts) slander, disrespect are very often invoked.

I don't even know how people get offended by such remarks. If someone or a troll makes such remarks, just ignore them and see if it will break a single bone in your body.

This is the internet and worse still. It is a forum full of anonymous individuals. Why would you feel bad or affected just because some random individual who doesn't even know you just made what you felt like was an insult?
