Pi crypto (legit?) Or a hoax?

Hi, ive downloaded something called pi which is supposed to be a cryptocurrency that is supposed to be much easier to mine. But i dont really know what to make of it, on one side it is extremely easy just download the app (need an invititation code from a user) then you just start mining and you just tap into the app once a day to keep mining. And it has started to become extremely popular with i think over 15million users. Its free and without ads. On the other hand it does not have any value at the moment. Im not really sure about the technalities about it just they will be on the market with value in stage 3 whatever that is. They did keep their promise with the first stage but i dont know. Well, the truth is that new stuff are always greeted with suspicion and skepticism. However, the pattern of this Pi mining phone app is reminiscent to me of faucets which were very popular around 2017 and earlier. The issue with faucets is that you can never be sure if the faucet site will allow you withdraw your earned crypto on the site once you meet the set withdrawal level. Most times, they don't. And all that would amount to efforts in vain. This is what I for see will happen with phone mining apps. Pi may come up tomorrow to tell users that it was just doing a beta test of its site. What would be the fate of users then?

It's been a long time since this mobile mining browser app and project has been introduced to the community. Even until now, as you've said, there's no value.
I cannot conclude yet if this is a serious project because they have existed already for a long time and showing its value is still questionable. Well, it's all your time and you can do whatever you want with that but to me, I won't waste my phone's energy and time for it.

As far as i know PI is a crap coin and that's a bad coin. So many Pi shillers were only spreading the fake news to get more and more victim. Be careful with scam coin like Pi

This is the fifth thread about Pi Network that I commented but I never get tired of reminding people that this is a hoax project that is meant to sell your personal info and to make money from your participation, why they are not sharing their profit from those ads to their members, they are making millions out of those ads displayed, in exchange for a coin that will only worth a few dollars for mining thousands of their useless coin.

I totally disagree with you mate, in as much as am not going to be advocating whether pi is legit or not, am only gonna give it the benefit of doubt, atleast from my research about the project, they might just be legit, and as you have rightly said in the beginning of your post, that new stuffs are first and foremost greet with suspicion and skeptism, I believe that is what is happening right now, if you know what it means to have a verified Twitter account, I did tell you that pi is one of the few crypto projects to Have a verified Twitter account, if the project was a childish one, I don't believe Twitter would verify their account, so what am saying is we should just give them the benefit of doubt and keep mining since it cost close to nothing to mine, it might turn out legit after all.

As a crypto enthusiast it is quite sad to see people are blinded by money instead of thinking about it logically, I am not fan of Pi crypto but we should state the fact here that the project itself is legit. the main purpose of Pi network is start earning cryptocurrency today with our free, energy-light mobile app.
when you run it you get the coin from their app which means the project is paying. what is the reason for you to call it a scam?

If we have downloaded the Pi Network application, we will know the answer, as you said, indeed the oddity occurs because some of the ones that are mined don't make sense so I think this is not a real project but only utilizing something the team wants, I have already read the thread you mentioned and it looks like it will be more interesting for the OP to see it on the reputation board.
I also don't know how these tokens are traded because in CMC the track data cannot be read, meaning that it is clear that this is a mining application, not a legitimate one, if you already know everything, the OP should be able to avoid the application.

To be fair, I haven't looked at this project properly because of all the criticisms above (no value, no utility etc) but I know tons of other crap projects with far less community supporters around it. I mean to see they have a shitload of mods doing the work voluntarily seems to say something about the project. Not something I'd buy but you never know what community power can do (look at Bitcoin).

Since you cannot mine anything effectively on a mobile phone theres no mining involved = theres no blockchain in this project.  The purpose of this project as far as i can tell is only to collect your data and click ads.  thats it.  Devs working for free?  define free? the project doesnt pay them but they get their revenue from ad clicks and sale of info?

This entire project is a scam. 

13 million people clicking ads in the Hope they get something in the future is how this scam works.

While you're free to disagree with my perception, you can at least endeavour to let me see your point of view. From what you've said here, I see you aren't going to stick out your neck for Pi. Why so if you so much disagree with me then? Well, like I said earlier in my comparison of phone mining apps to faucets; they most times end as waste of precious time and data. BTW, is Pi listed on the market yet?

still not many people have reviewed this coin, indeed on Twitter a few days ago I saw Pi was in trend, and reportedly Pi will replacing Bitcoin,

I have seen and heard this coin a long time ago. And it seems that the pi team didn't successfully make it in the trading market. If they are going to be listed, it should have been a long time ago already. But up until now, they are silent about the listing of this coin. I suggest not to mine this coin because you maybe are just wasting your time on this and may not also be good for your phone. I don't think they will ever hit in exchanges, so save yourself here.

It is a scam. Someone has posted a feedback about Pi recently and told about his experience, he has lost money. I will it quote here:

I personally don't think it would be good and give a lot of value to people who download and do mining on the phone.

As far as my instinct is in this space, I'm unnecessary with that coin, and there are already many negative reviews of it.
In the country where I live, the media have also spoken and warned about it because it is creating a fever when many people accept and exploit it.

It's been years now for pi and there is still no clear path for the project, it just runs on the mobile phone and mines pi, who knows what the software is mining, they might harvesting information already we don't know, it's a bit weird that over the years there is no announcement whether it will be launch and there is no price, I'm also one of many who install the app, I have mine decent amount but until now, I don't see any actions from the team, or big announcement only the community are making speculations.

It should be like that but unfortunately it could be that the OP is also looking for answers outside of this forum which is often the answer is the opposite of what the members of this forum convey.

There not enough evidence that proves that this project is a scam. The only thing that bothers me is that using the app on your mobile phone can cause data theft.

My question to those who have installed this app and are mining.
When you installed this app for the first time did itnasknfor permission to access other apps. If it did then there could be a problem.

Otherwise I do not see any issue.
