Poor Elon Musk, it's no surprise though, if someone has the name and fame, of course there will be so many people that want to take advantage of those things. But, tbh it's such an obvious scam, I can't believe someone really fall for that. Like, if we think about it logically, it is almost impossible to double your bitcoin in just 30 minutes, even using Elon Musk name, people should be more aware if things are too good to be true. But well, now things happened already we can make it to be more cautious and careful, shouldn't fall for that kind of traps. It's kinda sad though his name got bad without doing anything lol.
we find it a ridiculous and funny thing that someone had fallen into a very obvious scam. Yes, we laugh at it because we know how a scam works but to innocent people, that simply think of money and double it for just a few minutes, they can be instantly rich. This what we mostly end when we are not asking other's opinions or even listening to others who have knowledge about crypto. I don't blame Elon Musk for this and probably he never scams a person and a reason that could ruin his reputation. He actually supports Bitcoin and that it gives the advantage for the scammers to use his name in order to trick innocent people and caught in their trap.

This is not common news for me because I have already heard many things related to this, on which a person is using the names of a popular person for hacking and scamming purposes and only beginners in the world of crypto would be the victim of these. After all, maybe they are not yet aware of the things like this in the community so they will easily believe those profiles without even checking them.

@aysg76, this issue has nothing to do with the hacker but phishing site scammers who proposed fake giveaway and I think the topic of this thread should be "Elon Musk name once again used to fool people by imposter"Are still some people who are falling with that kind of scams? It's already 2020, those scams in Twitter are already aged if you are already in Twitter before especially on cryptocurrency part.
But we can't blame newbies for falling to it, they are extremely vulnerable to these kinds of scams.
Yes, people still fall for the fake Elon Musk Twitter account giveaway scam and the victim of the scam are mainly aged people who invested their pension fund in cryptocurrency with the hope of secure their future financially. This is the reason why FCA ban crypto trading/investment by retailer investors.

I am surprised to read about these people that lose these high amount of money, and I am also sad to read about scammers that are earning money just fooling people... but looking better, it's very hard fall into this scams since... -these frauds are not new and mostly have gained the attention from mass media (likewise twitter assault of some months ago). -why some one should double bitcoin? this is definitely no sense, a completely ignorance about money and economy. -but last not least, it's very easy check the real identity of a fake Musk... people complaining about money scammed have not made any basic checks...

Elon Musk's name is widely used when it comes to scams in the cryptocurrency community, with that amount of money I mean you should be ultra-careful before investing that money.
I mean when it comes to social media where scams are pretty much everywhere you should just triple-check everything checks the project, website, and everything, and even verifies it to others.
I think a lot of celebrities' account was also hacked in the past just and use in scams, a lot of people fall into this kind of scams which is actually believable because of the blue checkmark of twitter indicating that it is a legitimate account.

I wonder why people still far for this Elon Musk give-away this and that on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram or what ever media they use. Well, its not a mystery that people come into cryptos on a daily and people live as well but come on, this scheme has already been done one too many times and it feels really sad that people still fall for it out of greed. If people can actually stop being greedy and hungry for easy money in give aways, it would go a long way in putting this scam scheme in check. I know trying to be first always seems to present a chance but, you always have to ask yourself, what you stand to lose and if its worth it should the whole thing become a scam. Be a little bit curious, thats all you need.

The important thing about this news is to know that no matter how easy it was for these people to "fall" into fraud, one must always be alert, trust and believe that this happens to others is the cause of fraud that is only waiting for carelessness. The dissemination of this type of news sometimes helps a lot to spread the prevention so as not to fall into such classic scams.

People will always try to join these type of free give-aways for the hope that they will get something out of it. You can't blame them as they are desperate to get a hold of money. However, with such carelessness, instead of getting something, they will be screwed by these scammers. People should orient themselves with this type of scam. Nothing good will come out of it.

Its really possible that the people who got scammed are people who has been taught badly on how Cryptocurrency works and in some way they thought that its a good idea to send their money first into an address in which was fakely connected to a famous person. They also have forgotten the fact that Elon would not use other people promoting what he wants because he is personally a vocal person and having a CEO promote something that he wants is one of the best way to improve or gain customers/popularity/attention.

Now someone's big name can be misused, like Elon Musk, so for now you have to be careful and stay alert, because in 2021 Elon Musk is experiencing a rise in popularity for crypto, so there will be many people using the name Elon Musk for things that are not good.

Many of these scams can be traced back to 2019 or 2020, when Elon Musk didn't had any association with cryptocurrency sector. In most of the instances, the scammers just used another blue tick Twitter account, after modifying the profile name and profile picture to make it look like the account of Musk. But in one instance, they managed to hack Elon's Twitter account and posted a phishing link using that. New users are the prime target. Most of them are unaware of the scams and Ponzis that exist in this sector and can be easily manipulated.

That is really a sad scene when your opening you Social Media account but there is a thing that we should all keep in mind. It is the fact that Elon Musk would not promote any website with using a different account. He will always use his main account which is great because Elon is a very vocal man and he would say what is on his mind regarding different topics and that is why we should just wait for Elon Musk on his account when he talks about Cryptocurrencies that could benefit us. Twitter does not have the time to do a lot of fact-checking because of the million of users doing so many fake accounts and talks about many of fake events happening and that is why its our responsibility to follow what is on our mind. Are these scams still happening? I am quite surprised that it is after all the trouble that happened back in Twitter wherein many celebrities were hacked through a social engineering made done by a young person. Long time ago, there was someone trying to make me login my Bitcoin wallet back then claiming that there will be giveaway also. It might not be celebrity, but be wary that not just celebrity but your own "trusted" platform could deceive you sometimes.

But as long as the newbies are very resourceful and they are researching first before falling into it, they will earn it and avoid it because they've been vigilant.

I think it is a combination of factors, on the one hand there are people who are not exactly intelligent, let's put it that way, and on the other hand there is the real Elon Musk who trolls and creates confusion especially when he is talking shit about Dogecoin. He should stop trolling because then people, when they get news that Elon Musk does a certain thing run to do the same. And that is really stupid.

This is a classic scam, we can't blame Elon Musk here or his popularity in crypto. Unfortunately the person who lost money has no idea bout crypto scams, it's easy to detect it is a scam with the "double your money" scheme. His greediness made him lost bitcoin, hopefully it's not that much though.
I agree. There is no pointing fingers at Elon - he doesn't even have the time to be scamming people like this, and to be blunt no need either. While I can feel the pain of the guy who fell for this scam, unfortunately there's nothing that can be done anything about it. It is done, it was done when the transaction was completed. Let it be a hard lesson for many who read about this, and never send any crypto unless they are dead sure who they're sending it to.

For the crypto community that has been in the crypto world for a long time, it might seem ridiculous to see someone being tricked into being promised double the Bitcoin they own. Because most of the crypto community who have been in the crypto world for a long time, are very often aware of fraud incidents with this method, therefore it's easy to avoid it.
But newbies who are not experienced in the world of crypto will easily be attracted by an offer to double their Bitcoin. Moreover, scammers take advantage of the big name Elon Musk, who is currently active in Twitter, doing promos for DOGE and BTC. Making newbies even more influenced, and making it easier for scammers to deceive many people who don't have good experience and knowledge in the world of crypto.
Such scams will continue to repeat themselves, because scammers know that there will be new potential victims. Especially with the price of Bitcoin also getting more expensive this year, many newbies want instant profit. Lessons for newbies who are new to the world of crypto, there is no instant profit. So avoid offers that can double Bitcoin in a relatively short period of time.

This story is a typical one for crypto currency world. Lots of famous persons' accounts were used for making such schemes and fraud very trusting people. The key moment in stories of such kind - the greediness and haste in decisions. You may double your assets for example on the increasing price of token or coin and even in this case you may lose. So the golden rule - think twice before you act, be extremely attentive, check every information and every symbol in it.

Well, today the real Elon Musk fooled the bankers pretty well as he announced not only that Tesla will accept bitcoin as a payment but also that Tesla will hoard them without selling BTC for fiat. If this works it can be a huge fuck you to the banking system, completely bypassed here.
