Over several years I have purchased a little bit of bitcoin here and there.  I think most, if not all, of those purchases were made on Coinbase.  I don't see any historical record of those purchases.  Is there any way to tell when, how much, and at what purchase price I made those acquisitions?  Any way to tell from the blockchain?  I don't need to know for this tax year, but I will at some point of time in the future.

When and how much you acquired could be derived from the blockchain if you can decide whether an incoming transaction was a purchase or not.
The price you paid can only be estimated (i.e. look up the price of BTC at that date).

It is weird that you don't see any records on coinbase. Did you maybe use another account? Or a different exchange?

On coinbase I don't see any menu entry or other way to see historical activity.  Maybe it is there and I just can't find it. I am looking at the mobile app if that matters.

Do you mean if other can know about your own purchase if bitcoin, because if you want to know you history is there for you, you can check your transaction history and all your transaction would be made clear to you, purchase withdraw, sold and many more, but for others, just like the first post said blockchain is there best possible way to view it.

Have you checked this yet? I'm not sure if this applies only to trading but it can be somehow related to this.

Anyways, how did you purchase the BTC? Like local currency? Credit Card? Etc.

I was using coinbase, not coinbase pro.  I purchased both with credit cards (don't remember which ones) and also local currency.  I realize that I can go back through all my credit card statements for the last several years, and bank statements, but I was hoping there would be an easier way.  After all, if the IRS can find the information it must be available somewhere.

The tiring thing about that is going to be checking the statements and correlating the price on that current purchase. That's going to be troublesome especially if you are busy

How about contacting the support? Maybe they can help you faster with it.

Coinbase help indicates there is an entry under a Profiles menu entry.  That entry must only be available on the desktop version as opposed to the mobile version.  I am currently locked out of the desktop version because of a clobbered security key and am working with coinbase about getting re-verified.  That should be fixed in a couple of days and I'll check again then.  I'll report back.  Thanks for the help.

Going over this video it seems pretty easy to see the transaction history from the Coinbase App, and further viewing the TX details:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOtvWe3mqfE

The video is pretty recent, and the bitcoin price captured on the screen seems to be from february of this year, so the interface should be that of the current version (or so).

Edit:

You're welcome.

Yep, you're right.  There was nothing on the screen indicating that the "My Wallet" line was "clickable."  It showed the current value over to the right and I thought that was it.  Thanks much!

If you still have the receiving addressess hen you can use any bitcoin block explorer to see how much bitcoin they received and when they received it. Yu can also ipmort those addresses on a wallet app (such as Electrum) as watch-only and it will load all your addresses history.
Once you get your addresses history you can use the "Historical Data for Bitcoin" from Coinmarketcap to determin the price of bitcoin at the time you purchased it.

You are right bob, all the bitcoin services (exchanges or casinos) have a record of all the deposits, transactions, and withdrawals.

OP could verify directly in the blockchain that information only if he has made a withdraw to a bitcoin address anytime he made the purchase. If he only keeps the bitcoins in the exchange then it will be impossible to verify it from the blockchain.
