I just bought a Trezor Model T because of the large number of supported coins (over 1600). However, when I try to create wallets for some of my coins they do not appear in the drop down menu (only about 16). For example RVN... How do you create a deposit address for RVN on the Model T?
Confused.

You must use some third party wallets because there some coins including Raven that are not supported by Trezor Suite or regular wallet.
Best thing would be to install Electrum-RVN wallet, but other wallets are Chaintek and Mango Farm.
Procedure should be similar like when using Electrum for Bitcoin with Trezor wallet, and I am not sure for other two wallets.

According to the Trezor site, RVN isn't supported by Trezor Wallet or Trezor Suite, but they list Chaintek, Electrum-RVN, and Mango Farm as compatible.  You'll can use those other wallets to access your Trezor RVN wallets.

Disclaimer; I've never owned any RVN, so I've never used any of those wallets, but I have used my Trezor with Electrum Bitcoin wallet, and the official Monero wallet.

The whole point of buying the Terzor was to get away from a bunch of other wallets. They said it's supported, and yet it's not supported except through other wallet? That's crap.

I do not understand. As to what I have just found out, Trezor Model T support Raven, I checked the coin listed on Trezor official site. I was also checking some other sites to know Trezor is one of the best wallet for Raven.

https://trezor.io/coins/
https://www.coinbureau.com/analysis/ravencoin-wallets-rvn/

Is there anything I am missing?

Exactly a crap, if truly Trezor Model T is not supporting Raven, but I am not still certain about this.

That is the case for many other coins, and you can't expect to have one universal wallet for all coins and expect everything to always work.
You are still keeping keys offline, that is the main point of hardware wallets, and it can be even better to use familiar default Electrum wallet as interface.

Maybe im missing something, but if you have to have separate RVN wallet, then what is the point? You are just using Trezor as a pass though, so the underlying wallet is still online and can be hacked. Seems like it's not worth the trouble of going through Trezor to get to the windows wallet to get to your coins, why not just use the windows RVN wallet in the first place.

Like I said before KEYS ARE OFFLINE and not stored on your computer like in a case if you installed and generated wallet on your computer.
When your Trezor is not connected Electrum is unusable.

1. Choose the Standard Wallet option

2. Choose Use a hardware device

It is similar for ledger wallet and maybe a bit more complicated as you need to add apps first before connecting.

I already have ravencoin core wallet and the keys are online. I can just use this wallet directly and not go through the extra step of the trezor. Just seems like more work.
I would have to startup and sync Raven Core wallet anyhow since the keys are there. Not sure what the Trezor brings to the table other than extra work to get through to the Raven Core wallet.
I thought the Trezor would actually hold and manage the keys, but apparently not. It's just a front-end for the Raven Core, which take a while to sync everytime I start it up.
Again, the wallet and it's keys have to be online for me to use anyhow, so why go through the Trezor if I can just use Raven Core anyhow?
Again, I don't understand the point.

My Raven Core wallet doesn't look like your pix. Not sure what you are looking at.
What i want to do is store the keys in the Trezor so I can just send/recieve from Trezor. Using Trezor to be a front-end for another online wallet seems like a waste of time/effort. I would have to have Raven Core online and synced up anyhow since the coins are stored in that wallet and not in Trezor.

I just don't get what you are talking about.

You are obviously not reading anything I wrote and you are NOT using Electrum like I wrote, but raven core.

For all the coins ive ever minied, ive always use a core wallet. Im not familiar with Electrum and not happy about having the walet store the coins outside of Trezor even if you supposedly can't get to the keys without the Trezor hooked up. I still thinking that having to have a 2-step process of managing an Electrum and Trezor together seems more complicated than just doing it on the Trezor directly.
Will Trezor be fixing this in upcoming hardware and if so, do I have to buy another Trezor to get that to work when the finally get it working?

Yes it's been a number of years, I skipped the bear market and just started mining again in December. Having to re-learn stuff.

You are not storing anything outside your Trezor. Your private keys are not supposed to leave your device. Electrum and any other compatible altcoin wallet act only as an interface which knows how to communicate with your hardware wallet. There is no risk as long as you verify what's being displayed on your Trezor's screen and you don't enter your recovery seed anywhere.

You seem to think that if you use Electrum-RVN, it will store the private keys. That's wrong. You won't be able to spend any coins unless you attach and unlock your Trezor device.

I still thinking that having to have a 2-step process of managing an Electrum and Trezor together seems more complicated than just doing it on the Trezor directly.

You don't have to use both at the same time. There are quite a few people here who use their hardware wallets only with Electrum since it supports many advanced features. As for the Ravencoin, you can use Trezor Suite or their web interface for Bitcoin and, for example, Electrum-RVN for Ravencoin without any problems.

Will Trezor be fixing this in upcoming hardware and if so, do I have to buy another Trezor to get that to work when the finally get it working?

There is no reason why new hardware would be needed. It is purely a software limitation. Trezor developers are busy making Trezor Suite more usable, so I wouldn't expect them to add a native support for the specific altcoin you use. Every piece of software used by Trezor is open-source, so the community is free to contribute as well. Also, if they supported every single altcoin natively, they would need to have a solid backend which is costly.

Trezor doesn't claim that it natively supports Ravencoin. if you take a look at supported coins & tokens, you will see that for Bitcoin, one of the supported wallets is Trezor Suite + 2 third-party wallets. Enter RVN in the search bar and you will notice that Trezor Suite is not on the list of supported wallets. Only Chaintek, Electrum-RVN, and Mango Farm.

You seem to be more focused on simplicity instead of security. What you are using now with your Raven Core wallet is the equivalent of a hot wallet. If your computer gets infected with a crypto-stealing malware, you could lose your RVN coins. That's the disadvantage of your choice of preferring the simpler path. But if you took the more secure path and did what was suggested to you in the thread, a malware couldn't steal your coins because it needs physical confirmation from your hardware wallet to broadcast the transaction.

Make up your own mind which path seems better.

Not focused on simplicity, but rather security. Im concerned about having 2 entry points to my coins. If I have to run a regular wallet, then it's possible to be compromised while syncing since it has to stay online for a long time to get all the blocks downloaded. All my core wallets take over an hour to sync. During that time the wallet is open, it's vulnerable. The whole idea of the Trezor is to keep it locked in cold storage until you need to send coin. So, now if I run a separate wallet then my coins are exposed even without the Trezor.

I see there is no choice however, so im wondering if there is a guide or instructions for how to link the Trezor to my RavenCore wallet. Not sure what linking it to my existing wallet is good for exactly though, since you can still access the coins through the wallet even without the Trezor.
