Foods and other commodities are all being affected by the recent happenings because of the supply of those essential stuffs are getting into its limit as the people tends to stay into their houses all due of the existing pandemic which leads to the production of those commodities but still the demand is still keep on rising and as time goes by the common raw materials needed to produce those stuffs are also getting expensive and as a result, the prices soar high into the extent that it is not already not that much affordable for the common ordinary people. We are clearly seeing how the negative impact of the current situation we are experiencing in the economy affects the flow of supply and demand which is now being felt by individuals residing in one place making common necessities become expensive.

It is surprising to hear about increasing prices for food. Here in India, the food prices have remained at the same level for 6-7 years now (despite the local currency losing its value). Even during the lockdown period, the prices remained at the same level. I guess the increase may be occurring in those nations which import food items from abroad. Transporting agricultural produce has got more expensive now, as a result of COVID 19 restrictions.

Teach your children not to be a sycophant fanatics of politicians, teach them to ask the right questions, teach them common sense and critical thinking, teach them compassion and charity. This simple things that our parents didn't do can help the future generations become better than the past generations.

If you look at the current society and the younger generation, it is very difficult to imagine that the next generation can be more supportive of society. Although there are many examples, even today, when politicians declare one thing, but when they come to power, they act differently. There are clear examples that the resources in the country are sufficient to provide for its citizens, but the government does the opposite. I cannot understand the logic of such actions. I live in a country where most of the profit for the state and people is provided by agricultural products, but at the same time the government exports all the goods abroad, and the people are left only with an increase in the price of food, no matter how fruitful the year was. And I don't even want to think about energy resources, because in this case everything is even worse.

We clearly see a steep decline in total world rice production by 3,517,086. Going into 2020, we are already in downward trend causing in to plunge more with the current pandemic. Currently, there is no available data for 2020 and 2021 but with the current trend we can infer that the production yield would be much lower in 2020 and 2021.

You should look also at the amount of land that was plated with and that went down more than the production which means higher productivity.

And there is no downtrend, there was none in the last century and there will be none.

Overall food production has increased more than the growth of the human population over this period and it will continue to do so while there is a clear downtrend in population growth.

The increase in price is not because of productivity or climate, is more about the disruption of logistics chains, once everything returns to normal this scare will disappear also.

It is a very complete report, however it is a rather complicated scenario if the US were to run out of food supplies, in the case of South American countries inflation is exuberant, such is the case of Venezuela, it is not only difficult to get vegetables and fruits Since the prices are very high, there is a large amount of land where the peasants cultivate, also any item is very expensive, I honestly do not know how or how much is spent weekly in a market, but in Venezuela you spend $ 100 and you cannot cover the food basket.

The crisis has generated that people, instead of decoration plants in their homes, plant onions, coriander, among others to avoid making an expense in the near future, given that the US population is very large, it would need to import vegetables and fruits, I hope that this scenario does not arrive, but you have to take precautions.

This is definitely a wise idea. Planting crops and vegetables to save money is a huge help especially during this pandemic season. We have to be wise if we want to survive. Relying on the government and blaming them for an increase of daily necessities' price will never help so we have to create our own smart moves to save and continue living.

This might be easier said than done. Aside from food there are a lot of things needed to consider for us to produce, not everyone has their piece of land to produce crops or vegetables. Even vegetables are expensive, meat products as well doubled it's price as poultry and pig farms has limited supplies due to no one wants to raise farm animals due to the massive increase in price. In our country there are times where you won't see any stall open in the meat section, vegetable prices cost as much as meat's price. The food price is increasing but the minimum wage remains the same. Low income earners are suffering real bad, not to include the lockdown which limits job operations.

We really don't need that thing to take a long time, we just have to convince a lot of people to think and be smart as to who is the person that they are going to elect, I am not advocating the idea of waiting for future generations when we can do it in our own timeline. Not everyone can do what you are trying to advice, the only one who can have their own portfolio is those who have the access to technology and have enough money to build their own portfolio, not everyone can secure an asset because almost half or more than half if not of the population is dirt poor.

To grow crops efficiently we need to have access to affordable materials to build modern infrastructure. No one should rely in climatic perfect conditions to grow crops nowadays as we have the possibility of building greenhouses with hydroponics integrated. This way we are protected against drastic climate changes, parasites and animals which could damage the crops and due to hydroponics the crops are ready for harvest much faster than through traditional methods.

The issue is that the costs of building a system like this are too expensive because these materials must be imported. Furthermore it's a risky investment, as we don't know if there will be enough demand on the market.

And I don't think to create a token is going to help farmers to solve this issue, as we have already many coins disponible here with the same characteristics of a potential brand new created one.

I think it's a good idea, to create a system where we can artificially grow crops without relying on climate and weather, since those are dynamic and getting worse everyday because of us only. Should rely on technology more, am optimistic about it, if humanity can send rovers on Mars, cars into space, surely we can create an independent food production system as well. There is not much issues in transporting agricultural produce from one country to another. From what I have heard, cargo transport is back to the pre-pandemic levels. The issue may be with local logistics (i.e transporting the products from villages to the cities, and then to the ports). At least in some countries, the lockdowns have been re-imposed due to the second and third waves of the COVID 19 pandemic.

I have a lot of questions and complicated thoughts about agriculture in the future. First, after stabilizing the disease situation, we need to return to production work. However, the influences from the trade war and the economy between the US and China have been affecting the whole world economy. And I have heard that factories in China will be relocated to other regional countries, it is an opportunity for the surrounding countries and can take advantage of this to develop the country. However, where will the land to build new factories come from? I firmly believe that agricultural land is available. A trend of turning agricultural land into an industrial place is not too strange to developing countries, and this is intangible as losing food production, I think next time will there are a lot of problems from the post-pandemic that need to be solved, not just restoring the world economy, but I think the global food problem is also very serious.

The main reason behind this is the Supply and Demand. In this time of pandemic, man power of planting enough food is limited, animals are getting diseases too, that's why mostly meat products are limited as well. In that case, the price hikes up. Here in our country, farmers are always being neglected, the vegetables they harvested are always ended up in the garbage cans because our Government is not buying it and will say that the supply of vegetables is not enough, funny as hell.

Commodity prices are rising, albeit slowly. Oil prices have increased from $40 per barrel to more than $60 per barrel (and that happened after the crash in April-May 2020). The impact of inflation is slowly being visible, and I won't be surprised if that causes the food prices to rise. But in my country so far I am not witnessing any large scale increase in food prices, other than the routine fluctuations.

Agricultural production in most developed countries hasn't been harmed significantly, this is no longer a medieval industry with thousands of people going out of the fields, one tractor usually does the job alone for an entire community. The only thing that was somewhat disturbed was fruit picking like strawberries and other small fuirts which is done by hand but those are not essential products, the staple food production was safe.

However, where will the land to build new factories come from? I firmly believe that agricultural land is available. A trend of turning agricultural land into an industrial place is not too strange to developing countries, and this is intangible as losing food production,

Factories, while they might seem huge, are using tiny amounts of land compared to agriculture for example one of the biggest Ford factories covers 2.0 km2, which's nothing, and remember that there will be empty space left from where those factories have moved.

The issue is not with production and not with transporting food.
I'm quite amazed why people don't realize what the main effect of this lockdown was, it changed consumer habits!

Just in my town, for example, everyone was rushing to work, grabbing a pretzel to eat on the subway, a slice of pie or of pizza, that was all gone. Now all of that flour, all that cheese everything had to be re-routed as people were eating their breakfast at home and, they would eat something else, like milk and cereals or salami. And you can't turn pretzel's ingredients into a bologna sandwich!

And this was just the tip, restaurants had to close, and people would simply stop eating that stuff as they couldn't prepare it at home, so the logistic had to change again. Less cheese packed in 10kg bags, more salami for home, less flour for bakeries, more for frozen food. How many people that would eat squid in a restaurant would prepare it at home? All that coffee that was sold at 1 euro on automated vendors packed in caps had to suddenly change to half of kilos packs for home consumption till everyone could get their own espresso maker at home.

A lot had to change, a lot, and the problem is that once it changed so drastically it will take a while to go back again, and by the time the chain is back on track some of the links might file for bankruptcy!
