Its quite surprising until now for me that our professors didn't taught anything about money to me. They are my professors but they don't know anything about financial literacy. In the current era right now where most of the things are digital and online, we should teach Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general in the young people even it the basics only at least they have a starting point and then they will do the rest by researching if they really are interested to learn it.

I learnt about economics in school but it was very basic levels and very wrong. The banks also force students to learn about old theories that are unsustainable and even should be made criminal but they don't tell you everything like fractional reserves which banks all practice now (having no reserves to cover every loan they make out for example).

Teach people about real economy first before you teach them Bitcoin:)

I'm so F***ing done to introduce people about crypto.

Since 2017 i try to talk to my familly and my friends about this and they just don't care about what i'm talking they said bitcoin is looks like ponzi scheme or etc.

And when the price of bitcoin has reached more than $30k most of them come back to me and asking me about bitcoin and how to invest on this sector. LOL

Congratulations! I admire your determination, you are right. We need to make bitcoin known based on our own experience, it could be a good idea to convince more people.
For my part I am teaching my sister and nephew to learn about cryptocurrencies. Because my sister's financial situation is not good right now, she will soon stop working because her bosses will close the offices where she works. I tell her not to worry that with cryptocurrencies she will overcome the problems of unemployment.

I particularly met bitcoin when she was unemployed and it has been the best thing that has happened to me in my entire life.

LOL haha but hey as I was saying above, I think you really need to teach people about basic money and economics first before you teach them about Bitcoin. Not that I think anyone should be teaching anyone, but like for kids for example or younger siblings and cousins especially, I think we really need to open their eyes as ours were open to the current system and how wrong it was

I'm a computer student, and I discussed bitcoin at a university meeting today, and I think it would be interesting for you to know what both professors and academics think about bitcoin.

I started by saying that bitcoin is expanding and that big governments are looking for bitcoin, and that the price of bitcoin has grown tremendously over the last few years. But professors who disagreed pointed out that bitcoin does not even have strong backing! Bitcoin is like something that does not exist, and people leave their capital in the hands of those who control the market.
You are a computer science student but you started talking about the finance/economics aspects instead of the technological aspects? Instead of talking about how valuable those crypto currencies are going to be, why not talk about how foolproof and reliable (with few drawbacks) the system is? Why not talk about the technology behind it?
You could have countered your professors argument by saying that even fiat is backed by nothing and the in in fact un the total control of the government who can print money anytime they want. In other words, the government can destroy the fiat system within few seconds.

It is a good thing to meet and talk about Bitcoin, but please only inform them about the technology features, applications and details of the future of Bitcoin, do not give any solid investment advice on Bitcoin. to avoid losing the naturalness of the conversation.
Meet as many people as possible because there will be many interesting questions in the crowd.
Prepare some bitcoins during the meeting and let them experience them if you are rich enough. I am sure this will be the most practical way to prove the theories you told them.  Grin Grin

I'm just a dropout when I have a family problem. But I've known bitcoin since I was 16. It's a lot of fun now that bitcoins are rightly known to the world and many of them are also making their thesis with the title bitcoin.

Meeting and discussing about bitcoin is really a nice idea and would actually boost the knowledge most people had about bitcoin, its really unfortunate that due to ignorance alot of people is really having a bad taught about bitcoin, most people thinks bitcoin is a scam or maybe isn't worth investing in. For sure there is really a need for conducting seminars about bitcoin and introducing bitcoin step by step, I think since people are having a wrong taught towards bitcoin there won't really want to hear the part of investing in it so I think it would be better to educate them on how bitcoin works and change the mindset of them thinking bitcoin is scam

To be honest i never want to introduce bitcoin into my friends or even my family because bitcoin is very volatile. Let's say i tell them to buy and when the price drop they will blame me and talking bad about me, LOL.
So, i just let them come and ask me about this and i will happy to tell them about how good bitcoin is.

It’s really cool that you have managed to overpersuade them. It’s strange that people do not believe in BTC and crypto yet. The lack of digital literacy is the main problem. It’s not pointless to discuss BTC in universities and everywhere more often.

Introducing people to something new comes with diverse challenges. Letting go of old knowledge is always a big challenge. Most times talking professors who has held on to a certain level of knowledge for years into new approach in tackling such issues poses a big challenge. However with much conviction and evidence most of them likely sucum.

Block chain technology typically holds the future. Investing in it is really what everyone has to embrace because soon we might vertically run a totally cashless economy where every transaction has to be digitally executed

Bitcoin is like something that does not exist, and people leave their capital in the hands of those who control the market.

I told them that Bitcoin is part of the blockchain network and today most large companies and even banks use this technology. If this were the case, it would have happened 10 years ago & it is the global markets, such as the stock market, that are controlled by the powers that be, and that is why they are afraid of bitcoin.

At the end of the session, I introduced most of them to Bitcoin, and some of them even took the address of an exchange from me to buy some Bitcoin! This is the power of Bitcoin.

You too can invite more people into this digital world by talking. Wink
I'm also happy to share your experiences here.

I have realized that there are quite a lot of people who are aware or know about bitcoin but have the wrong knowledge. That is why it seems as though they are against bitcoin but in reality, they just don't understand how it works.
I have met quite a lot of people who believe bitcoin is just some sort of Ponzi scam and will eventually crash. Only by calmly explaining the importance of bitcoin, its uses and benefits do these people understand how wrong they've been over the years.
I also take the time and patience to explain to them how bitcoin is not a 'get rich quick' scheme. many people believe this. I make them understand bitcoin was created to give us control over our money

OP that’s a great move on behalf of crypto community. Those who have negative thoughts about bitcoin; it’s very hard to convince them but there are many who don’t know about bitcoin. As member of crypto community we must target people who are completely ignorant about bitcoin. As they have bright chances of embracing the bitcoin revolution.

You being a Computer Student or whatever course you are taking should take note that its not Bitcoin that should be presented first. We must first present to people who wants to learn or deep dive into Cryptocurrencies learn about Blockchain Technology. Blockchain Technology and its applications can be presented properly and they would really be enticed to use it because of the number of utilization it can present. Blockchains Security is top tier and which is why people are applying it into Cryptocurrencies. Inviting people to learn about it is great and we should always be mindful on how they can utilize their time to earn from it.

Universities are the best centers to expand "the idea" it is not about telling people "hey invest in bitcoin ..." it is to convey the idea behind bitcoin, universities are the ones that debate ideas, proposals, generally they are open to discussion.

Now, it is not easy to capture "attention" but it is possible,  through the networks I have seen that in several universities that I know the general crypto issue and bitcoin have been discussed as part of the talk.

Between 2017 and 2019 I attended at least 10 talks about cryptocurrencies, that regardless of the cryptocurrency you always have to talk about bitcoin, but it must be recognized that there are cryptocurrencies that are better organized than bitcoin for this matter of meeting, the reasons are They are obvious and comment on them is irrelevant, but with bitcoin we need more organization, to hold real meetings to talk about bitcoin correctly, with guests who are true disseminators, but this entails serious expenses that individuals do not want to assume without organization.

Nice initiative, I was as eager as you to invite people to learn about Bitcoin when I was new to crypto. However, not everyone will listen to you, some would even mock you saying it is a waste of time a scam. I stopped what I was doing and let them waste their chance learning about BTC. Now that BTC had grown more, I've been receiving messages from those people which is were my friends. Even if you make a move or not, people will reach BTC and eventually will hear news about them because BTC is on its way to mass adaptation.

BTC is not permitted all over the world yet so you can't invite people generally to the council about it. If someone familiar with you and safe to discuss BTC then you can share your opinion and experience with him. You can give this message that BTC progresses much and after some time, it will reach a very good position in the market.

The way you deal with your professor's claim's about bitcoin by presenting facts is really admirable. I think this is probably the reason why most people before are afraid of investing simply for the fact of it being the first "decentralized" currency and does not have knowledge about blockchain technology. As of now, discussing and inviting your friends to invest in BTC is not really a problem due to its popularity and support from different sectors of our society.

Not sure it would be a good idea to start with talking about price to be honest, at it would easily look like selling a scam to others. Personally, I would start with Bitcoin's important characteristics(non-custodial, censorship resistance, predictable and unchangeable supply schedule, and such).

But hopefully your sort of presentation would at the very least spark an interest from them, ending up with them doing deeper research into it.

I couldn't agree more.

Same thing happened to me when I introduced Bitcoin to my cousin 3 years ago. I ended up just explaining to him just about on how to buy it, so in the moment he bought it and the price went down a little bit, he asked me if he already lost his money. So I introduced Bitcoin to him a little bit more about volatility and the market price movement. He said that it was too complicated for him and withdraw all of his funds instantly when the price went back to normal.

Lucky for OP to convince people to enter the Bitcoin world, but I think people automatically bought after he told them because they are only interested about the price and maybe they were thinking that its price never go down deep.
