BitBox02 Hardware Wallet

Hello forum,

To me as a beginner, the BitBox2 hardware wallet seems to be the most advanced.
But there are very few BitBox2-HowTo's and other guides. In addition the
support-staff doesent seem to be very talented.. But probably I am the problem:-)

Should I buy a BitBox2 or look for (probably cheaper) alternatives?

Hardware wallet are definitely cool and very easy for storing crypto currencies... but before you buy one you should take a couple of minutes for read more about a safe storage with just a ... paper wallet! Since https://glacierprotocol.org/docs/before-you-start/overview/ glacier protocol is enable to explain all steps that you need to perform before create your private keys and safely store your coins.
I am not saying don't buy an hardware wallet, just look also a very cheap solution that could be easily adopted by anyone...

I'm not saying that it's a bad wallet and that you shouldn't buy it, but personally, I'd go for hardware wallets that have enough community feedback(from the likes of Reddit, Twitter, and Bitcointalk). Namely, long-standing hardware wallet manufacturers such as Ledger, Trezor, or Coldcard. But that's just me.

Bear in mind that there is a BitBox02 which is Bitcoin-only, and there is also a Bitbox02 multi edition version. Neither seem to be available now until April 2021 (their website currently states both are available on pre-order only).

Most people have historically gone for Ledger or Trezor, but there is quite an array of hardware wallets out on the market (see [BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+) ).

Paper wallet aren't recommended for beginner, you could faced many problems in the future and it's not easy to set up. I've seen many user lose access to their paper wallet due to infected with malware, not safe while generating private keys, turn on internet connection etc.

Seems you only want to invest little amount money, so you're looking for cheaper trusted and safe wallet. You could use Electrum or Samourai wallet, it's a non custodial... I think it's enough for you.

If you really want to own hardware wallet, you can follow above user recommendation.

I checked about the wallet, it is open source, this can make the wallet to be trusted if no malacious code is found in its source code, but I will still prefer to go for other hardware wallets that are common and recommendable, like trezor especially for being open source. BitBox02is just a new wallet, I can not guarantee it until it has being used for sometimes and no vulnerability found or when vulnerabilities are already found and fixed.

This is why, in the same message, I have also suggested to have a look on glacier protocol since all of these aspects are well explained even for a newbie
People have problem even with hardware wallet, so I think it's always better understand the "basics" behind creating a new wallet and safely storage of private keys .

I would buy Bitbox more than I would ledger or Trezor and it's even cheaper than ledger Nano X wallet so price is not really an issue.
Main advantage over other wallets is that it combines open source with secure element, and they are taking much more care about privacy and improving security
and not just about adding bunch of altcoins like some other wallets are doing.
Good thing is that Bitbox is supporting Tor and communication between their app and device is encrypted, but you can use any other software wallets like Electrum with Bitbox.
