Ledger Nano S is my choice because it has a lot of features and good security. for some other hardware wallets, I haven't tried many.

Using a hardware wallet is more secure than using a software wallet or mobile wallet.

There is a new hardware wallet that was launched a few months ago and fully supported by Binance, namely SafePal which was a trending topic because it provided a large enough airdrop for initial users of the application and hardware wallet.

Trezor 100%, speaking from personal experience I recommend it. It’s out there 100% in the lead of anything else.

Plan is to buy on coinbase pro.
Wanna send it to a hardware wallet as I'm gonna HODL the next years. No Intention in trading. Whats the best hardware wallet to buy?
I feel like going with the Leder nano S or the TreZor one.
Whats your preference?
When it comes to hardware then i do only trust up these two.

https://www.ledger.com/
https://trezor.io/

There are other HW do exist but nothing beats out when it comes to the reputation and legitness of these two.

Both are reputable.

It seems that many are still into Ledger Nano S and haven't availed yet the X one just like me. And based from experience, it's still a good wallet and it's good with any of the version as long it's from Ledger.

But be careful where you purchase your hardware wallet, buy on approved retailers or buy it from the manufacturer itself.

Why are you interested in a hardware wallet?
He wants to hold for years after buying it on Coinbase Pro.

Wanna send it to a hardware wallet as I'm gonna HODL the next years.

Well, those are reputable wallets that perhaps give a safeguard on your crypto investment. But first, remember to purchase only on the legitimate and authorized online distributor's shop. Nothing else I can recommend when we talk about hardware wallet, both have good feedback but the problem of most they purchase in the wrong store --because there are tampered hardware wallet that means easy for them to trace back and get your fund inside. However, if you know this already it is better to avoid second-hand hardware devices.

Both of them are great you just need to buy it on their official site so you wouldn't get scammed or get a fake one if there are any.
I bought Nano Ledger because it was the first Hardware walley that I know you could always compare them look at their pros and cons and compare them to each other.

Are there people with a good amount of crypto but store it in wallets like electrum or similar ones?

Of course, there are such people, so although it is not recommended to use Electrum or any other desktop wallet as a hot wallet (for a good amount of coins), the degree of security depends on how much that person is aware of the dangers to which he/she may be exposed and whether he/she knows how to protect himself from them. Properly configured Electrum on a computer that is 100% virus/malware clean, and has adequate protection is not something that should be considered insecure, but why risk it that way if one hardware wallet costs only about $50?

If you look back a few posts, then you can see that Electrum can also be used as a cold storage (airgapped device), and a watch - only wallet (online device).

I would choose trezor, because the Trezor T works with the 12 word recovery seed given during your wallet setup which you can use to reactivate your account on a new Trezor T device if your old one is damaged, lost or stolen, and you don't need to update the firmware  when you want to store different crypto assets, the user interface and work platform which looks aesthetically pleasing make this my top choice for choosing this hardware wallet.

It is very difficult to assess which hardware wallet is better at Ledger user data leaks, Trezor fake applications here for example, fresh Trezor users who installed a fake application from the iPhone's App Store lost $1.6 million reports washingtonpost Trezor company said that "for many years notifies Apple and Google about fake applications issued for the company's product."  https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/03/30/trezor-scam-bitcoin-1-million/

Apple explained that developers of fraudulent applications often send initially harmless services for verification, and then turn them into phishing services.

The company said that the fake Trezor app got into the App Store fraudulently and was initially positioned as a cryptographic service for encrypting files and storing passwords, not related to cryptocurrencies

The other day Trezor discovered another similar app on Google Play https://twitter.com/Trezor/status/1376479975952547847
