We are still slaves but in this modern world we call ourselves as employees and paid salary every month. But wait we are paying most of our earnings as tax to the government and the companies take the remaining or more than half with the products we are buying, and this is not visible because this is happening slowly not instantly.

Unfortunately the whole world runs on debt. Almost every country is running a deficit and issuing debt each year. The same goes for all the big companies. This is designed by the tax laws as well, running debt makes you pay less taxes. So for an tax efficient company it actually makes sense to borrow money with low interest rates. Being in debt and being a slave are bit different though, you can go bankrupt as an individual. And if you really have no money and no income to pay back the debt, it will be written off after 4 years.

I don't believe an economic system without some kind of slavery, implied or otherwise, could exist unless every person, as a human right, received basic housing, food, and healthcare.
Only when survival is not at stake can work be given freely.

I also don't think people are really free if they don't have full autonomy over their own physical body; i.e. the legal right to commit suicide or use drugs.
