If it's not fully synced it won't be able to make a normal transaction.

I suggest you if you are in hurry you can dump your wallet private keys and import them to any non-custodial wallet like Electrum. So that you can transfer them to your Trezor wallet.

If you don't know how to do it just go to debug console and use this command below.

Code:
dumpwallet "filename"

It will dump all of your private keys from your bitcoin core wallet that you can use to import to any non-custodial wallet like Electrum.

As said above, you'll need a fully synched wallet to perform a transaction, and you would also not be able to access newer features available on new updates.

If you're going to play around with your private keys, you should apply extreme caution as they hold full access to all funds on your wallet; use only a secure device over a secure network.

Why don't you just update core?

Why don't you just try it out?
It should work. And nothing speaks against simply trying it out (or updating core).

If you're using Windows, just running the installer will do. It will remove the old files and replace it with the new. Your Bitcoins are safe if you backup the wallet.dat which if you haven't, you should do so ASAP.

I can't think of anything that breaks 0.16.0 in the recent releases. You should be able to make transactions without any problems. Even if the transaction you make doesn't end up being visible on the block explorer, you can just update Bitcoin Core and everything will still be fine.

Honestly I have no idea how to update my core

As ranochigo mentioned, it is as easy as simply downloading the latest file and executing it.
Whenever possible, make sure to verify its authenticity/signature.

However, if you just simply want to send your coins as fast as possible, there is no need to update it. After the sync is done, you should simply be able to send your transaction if that's what you want to do.

Exactly... I only update my node's bitcoind if (and only if) there's a feature i truely need or if a security vulnerability is found that would actually impact me.
I ran 0.16.0 untill I upgraded to 0.20.1. I skipped all versions in between and was able to create transactions without any issues... I'm currently running 0.20.1 and i'll probably skip (at least) 0.21.0.

It's not like you're running 0.1.0....

by the way, have a look at this: https://bitnodes.io/nodes/?q=United%20States
I'm defenately not the only one not upgrading to the latest release every time Smiley It seems like 34 us nodes (out of a total of 9204 monitored nodes) are still running version 0.8.x
