I once bought some Bitcoin from the internet with a bankpayment. I stored in Multibit-wallet.
I do own a password. But that's all.
Is there a way to recover? Willing to share :-) I think it was around 2011/2012 or so...
I don't own the Imac anymore and dont have any backup.

I have also used for a while multibit wallet but they are not providing assistance or help anymore Sad

Are you able to access to your wallet? Are you able to see your address? did you have stored your private keys or wallet.dat file ?
You can try also some guide like this https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/20174/export-wallet-from-multibit-to-electrum

Pay attention to your wallet (create always a backup and avoid overwriting)....

Do you also have by chance the wallet file?

Those files' extension was .wallet
They contained the text "org.multibit"

If you have the wallet file and the password, it should be achievable to get access to your coins.

did you have stored your private keys or wallet.dat file ?

I think that multibit didn't use wallet.dat; Bitcoin core uses wallet.dat

I just called my brother who bought my old Imac. Maybe we can recover something from the harddrive...
If I cannot find/recover the old programm file, I'm not able to recover with only a password?

password should be like a bip38 protection for your private key. If you try to sign a message and you are asked to provide a password so you have already your private key stored and ready to be used.

You don't need the program file, but you do need the wallet file. I believe the naming convention is *.wallet

With Multibit wallets, the password is only what amounts to the encryption key.

I once bought some Bitcoin from the internet with a bankpayment. I stored in Multibit-wallet.
If you were using multibit "classic", then you need either need the ".wallet" file or a ".key" file (and the relevant passwords for those files) to have any chance of recovering your bitcoins.

"Classic" looks like this:

If you were using multibit "HD", then you need either the "mbhd.wallet.aes" file (and the password)... or you need your 12 word "recovery phrase".

"HD" looks like this:

Do you remember which one you were using? Huh

I do own a password. But that's all.
Is this "password" made up of 12 words? or it just the normal sort of password you'd use, something like "password123" etc? Huh
