I think the odds were already shared here and it was Marquez who is the favorites, though it's not official yet at least having an idea is a big help to determine who is the possible favorite, but then the odds difference is not that huge so it's like a fair or even match and bettors like that.
Yes, I have not seen that there were already official odds for this match. It is still quite far before this match happens. So, those odds that we see coming from unofficial people then expect those to be guesses only from a fan or any analyst that monitors this match. AFAIK, both fighters have become champion during their pro boxing career, and both have fought the greatest in the boxing world, so we have to expect that they will be both respected and both fighters will have their fans to support them, so it's probably a 50/50 fight if one is a favorite here, for sure just a slight favorite or there could be line changes as money will come on both sides. Meanwhile, there are some boxers who did not appreciate these exhibition matches as they feel people are not getting the right entertainment and the real boxing which is run by the pro is being affected. Just imagine, if Mayweather gets $100 million in an exhibition fight but other fighters are even struggling to get $10 million in a fight, they'll feel frustrated for sure.

Even the fans would not want exhibition fights, much more on the side of the boxers as they are losing fans or revenue if people will patronize exhibition fights. Just imagine, if Mayweather gets $100 million in an exhibition fight but other fighters are even struggling to get $10 million in a fight, they'll feel frustrated for sure.
That's his benefit of being one of the greatest boxers in the world, but that big money would not be possible without the fans supporting him, so we can't blame Floyd here, but blame the fans for supporting a shitty show.

I agree, it's what we call talent fee and how far they've achieved. That's how Floyd has been valued and I'm sure the other boxers won't look at that. Maybe if they have an ego and pride issue, they would feel bad. But money is money and the amount that's also offered to them is also a big amount and they've agreed to signed it.

One of the advantage if you're a known or popular boxer on where generating money on your fights wouldnt really be that much of a problem but come to think in all the hardships that they had experienced before they do able to reach that state? this isnt a simple or easy journey to take and they have worked out their best to reach out the peak and now it did really give out the benefits which its no surprising when it comes to potential money that they could really get into their upcoming fights, neither it would be a official or an exhibition match - it wont matter at all.

Yeah, how they've invested their time and effort, that's the result of it. So if they have higher offers and contracts for their matches, they deserve it because they've worked hard before and we're now looking to the result that they've trained very well.

I don't think it's best to rely on the early odds and even in the poll it's how's Cotto is the favorite of the forum members and I know it will be different on all sectors. I favor onto Marquez too but let's just see when the time is nearing that will surely change. It will really be different in sports book. I'm not yet decided to whom I'll be siding on this match until I see the odds. That's really one factor for decision if I'm about to make my bet for this match. Meanwhile, there are some boxers who did not appreciate these exhibition matches as they feel people are not getting the right entertainment and the real boxing which is run by the pro is being affected.
That's ok, as long as these fighters will have their match coming soon that's what matter most.

You can't really compare Mayweather (I'm not a fan of his), however, give him credit, as much as we hate him because of his brandish and arrogant style, he can back up his talks, he is still undefeated and has beaten a lot of champions. And so with his popularity commands huge amount of money, vs Pacquiao, vs Conor, two of the biggest PPV in history. So if other fighters to get that huge paycheck, then they have to take the road of Floyd.

When it comes to fans then i do see that Marquez would have much more than with Cotto imho but im not really much sure. When it comes to maintaining their balance then for sure that it isnt really extensive to compare when they havent retired yet.
Degrade in performance is there because they arent becoming young but for those fans then this would be a good flashback into their greatness, even if its not into their prime already but at least we are seeing them again on a ring.
Doesnt matter much on whose gonna win, thing here is that we do enjoy on what we are seeing.
This could mean that at the beginning the odds for Marquez are going to be slightly distorted in his favor and a bet on Cotto makes more sense, however even if it is obvious both fighters are not only not going to be on their prime but they are also not going to be as good as when they retired this is still a great exhibition fight as they are both former world champions, and no matter how much their skills have deteriorated their fighting ability is never going to disappear completely.

No one could imitate Floyd, he is the only one and will always be unique, he is a trash talker guy but he is so good at boxing. We maybe find him boring but his style is effective that made him undefeated, had retired before, came back in boxing to fight champions and still they can't beat him. Mayweather has fought Canelo, Pacquiao, and Marquez, he won by a convincingly UD. That's the statement.

That's the reality some don't see, and please add Cotto on the list, he also fought him and won a UD if I'm not mistaken. So Mayweather did not cherry-pick his opponent as whatever opponent Pacquiao fought, he also fought and beat them.

I'm locking the thread for good, it looks like the fight will not push through: Plans are no longer in place for a showdown between Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez.
The previously scheduled exhibition match has moved from extended postponement to outright cancellation, Promociones Miguel Cotto executive director Bryan Perez confirmed with BoxingScene.com. The bout was once due to take place June 12 and then put on hold for later in the year but with no plans to explore a new date.
“It is no longer on our agenda,” Hector Soto, vice president of Promociones Miguel Cotto confirmed with Primera Hota, who first reported the news Thursday afternoon. “It’s not happening anymore; it’s over.” https://www.boxingscene.com/cotto-marquez-exhibition-no-longer-play-not-revisited--160148We have dream that somewhat even though way past their primes, we can see these two engage in the ring even in an exhibition match. But they are no longer interested.
