Fellow crypto bros, watch out from Hotbit... If you do one mistake, one tiny little mistake, Hotbit will punish you and ask for ransom 0.2 ETH, sent to a support help desk, then Hotbit will KIDNAP your coins for 3 to 6 Months, because it's their rules!
My Hotbit support ticket is :#150256 Here is the story, i sent some BNB on the BSC chain on my BNB receiving address on Hotbit, i didnt know that Hotbit had only chain support (they updated that since then), so my BNB were never on my hotbit BNB wallet, I messaged support, they let me know i fucked up, they said pay 0.2 ETH, i paid that, they confirmed the receipt, since then NO MESSAGES, RADIO SILENCE. It has been 1 month now, I guess i have 5 more to go, this seems like JAIL. Hotbit puts your your coins in jail if you do one little mistake. My guess is that use yield returns on my coins, I am pretty sure they do that to users, meanwhile kidnapping their coins. 7.2 BNB of mine are still kidnaped by Hotbit, i dont even know if i will ever get them. I thought paying 0.2 eth fee for the mistake was enough, but no Hotbit likes to make more by using your coins to generate yield for them.
Long story short, dont use hotbit, use Probit, or coinex, or MXC, hotbit doesnt deserve your funds.

I've heard of Hotbit (I think; I think I get it confused with HitBTC), but do you know where they're located? If it's in a country with even fairly strict financial laws you might be able to make a complaint with the authorities, but for some reason I suspect that isn't the case.
And OP, you might want to visit the Scam Accusation section and fill out a proper form with all the information about how much you lost, blockchain evidence, and so forth. At least then you'll have documented your complaint publicly with all the details and perhaps you can point someone at Hotbit to it eventually. Good luck--I know how it feels to get scammed by one of these shitty exchanges that think they can do whatever they want with their customers' money.

I know that they are based in Shanghai based on their Linkin information. So since they are based in China i doubt if i can ever fill a complain, first because of the language barrier. Thanks for the tip anon, i will do that right away! I didnt know we had that. Will fill all the relevant information, in the hopes it gets resolved. Yes it is annoying, all they respond to you is :”it’s the rules”. Well they make their own rules to better scam people.

This is what's going to happen if you failed to do research on the platform that you are going to use, there's already 5 existing complaints on Hotbit and yours is the sixth and hopefully it's the last one, but I doubt if it is going to be the last one, but these 6 complaints is just enough to warned their potential victims, if he will do research before using HotBit.

Did they ask 0.20 ETH in the support ticket? Damn, this is stupid. Why would anyone have to pay even a penny to have support from the service anyone using? You shouldn’t pay that at the first place. Or have you contacted through any other platform? I have heard of hotbit few times and it never seems a scam one to me although I can see some scam accusation against them.

This is so wrong and it's like adding insult to injury they let you know that you fucked up then they made you pay for your error and then ignore you, this is so cruel at least they should address this issue after you made a deposit.
The worst thing that you can experience in exchange is ignoring your tickets when it involves a huge amount, it's like they don't care. they should go here and address this issue.

This is the first time that I have heard of a support that asks for a payment for their support ticket, this is a scam and I hope that OP is the only and the last user to become a victim of this exploitative website.

There's another one, Yobit is charging 0.01 Bitcoin or even more if you open a ticket I tried it once and they are charging me 0.01 back then to create a ticket because of one of my deposit, it happens two years ago, glad that my deposit went through, so I don't bother to send 0.01 Bitcoin, Livecoin is charging OP because of the error, not the ticket created.

I have used Hotbit a number of times in the past years, the last time should very early 2020 or late 2019, and they used to be very good and prompt with both deposit and withdrawal, so I don't what has change but if truly they asked OP for additional funds moreso in different coin to help recover a missing deposit (that obviously is in their possession), then that's an outright scam. However, as for Yobit, they are the most shady exchange you can ever think of, with all their petty scams, such as airdrop creating fake tokens and coins out of thing air and launch them on an ico.

Hotbit has a bug on the deposit page. Loading proper deposit address doesn’t happen every time. that's why I sent the coin to the USDT address by mistake, I also saw that it was not the only case. He asked me to pay 0.3ETH, to send back these coins, which in my case was not worth it. Still use Hotbit, but just to sell a specific coin that comes from mining.

OP here, Update: Hotbit refunded my deposit, 8 months later, it does really feel that i got punished, but they did refund my deposit. Meaning they are probably not a scam after all, only some tight rules that actually punishes customers, what a way to deal with a customer eh ? Long story short, i was going to sell my BNB for 250$ at the time of the “kidnapping” or “punishment” right now they are at 650$ ... it ended being more fear than damage. I wanted to let you guys know, i got my funds back.

Thanks for coming back and updating us... and that's good news that you had a positive outcome in 1. Getting your funds back and 2. Getting some substantial gains! Still, it isn't great that you had to wait for 8 months!!?! Better late than never, I guess.

Glad you followed up on this thread, because usually people who start ones like this never do--and I'm also happy you got your funds back. This is a case of better late than never, and it could have ended up much worse than it did. It sucks that Hotbit froze your BNB for so long, but unless I'm mistaken you're actually in a better position owning them now than you were when they were frozen. At least that's some comfort, right? Better late than never, I guess.
Oh, that's a derp on me; you wrote the same thing and I missed it.
