This is a screenshot from 2016 and I have no clue which wallet software this was.  Does anybody recognize the software name?  What stands out is the version v0.4.9.8 and that it's synchronizing via Tor.

Bitsquare it became bisq.
You will probably not be able to sync it, but if you have coins on it you can import the seed into bisq.
Not sure if the seed works in other wallets it's been a very long time since I have used it. Others can probably give you more info.

Others can probably give you more info.

I've found this user on Reddit[1] that apparently has the same issue that OP. Here's one of the solutions that were given (assuming you've got no password - low chance):

Quote
If you don't have a wallet password set you can simple open the wallet file in a text editor and you will see the seed words in the beginning. Import them in another non-BIP44 wallet (e.g. electrum). The new Bisq version is not compatible with the old seed words as we changed to BIP44 wallet structure.

Another user [2] claims that you can restore the seed in Electrum. I personally never tried neither of these solutions, but they can probably help you in some troubleshooting.

Thanks a lot for your help!  Actually, I don't have any idea if I've ever deposited coins to this app.  Tried to import the seed to Electrum (BIP39, Legacy) with path m/0' as well as m/44'/0'/0' but don't see any funds nor transactions.

In November 2016 I was still using MultiBit Classic – even though I've already had Electrum running – and I've played around with other wallet apps.  I think I remember how I've traded some ETH with Bitsquare but I'm not 100% sure.  But let's say I have bought ETH with Bitsquare: what happened to them?  Is there a way to recover the altcoin wallets as well from Bitsquare?

I found this thread on the Bisq forums with some input from the lead developer: https://bisq.community/t/export-private-keys-from-wallet/439/5. Two things to note:

  • Alt+J or Option+J should provide a private key export tool. Remove any password on your Bitsquare wallet first, otherwise they are exported encrypted, which isn't much use to you.
  • Another users recovered from his seed phrase in Electrum Cash, and did not need to change the derivation path to find his coins.

So, if you imported your seed phrase to Electrum and did not find your coins at the standard derivation path, then it is likely that you have no coins on that wallet. You can try importing your seed and pressing the "Detect existing accounts" button on Electrum, which will scan the most common derivation paths. You can also trying using the command above to extract your private keys and import them directly in to Electrum to check for funds.

Thanks alot guys!  You've helped me very much in my digging for old-and-forgotten-coins.
