I'm having another go at clearing my garages, and I'm thinking of listing some items on Ebay. However, it looks as if they have become more restrictive in their listing policy. Some years ago, PreyPal itself attempted to scam me, so I don't want to allow that method. I prefer Bitcoin, but would accept cash or bank transfer. Does anyone know if this policy will make Ebay unusable for me?

Does anyone know if this policy will make Ebay unusable for me?
Companies that started accepting bitcoin were driven by increased trading volumes or intend to keep bitcoin as a reserve.
Ebay does not seem interested in Bitcoin as a reserve and many people in countries that use eBay have better payment options than Bitcoin.
bitcoin payment policy will make Ebay unusable it will increase pressure for support team, manually check refund policy and solve problems.

I have used ebay a lot over the years and have clocked up over 900 100% positive feedback there.

They have indeed become restrictive in the listings, I tried listing something a few weeks back
and had awful trouble, I just left it in the end.

TBH JC im sure you can list something and accept whatever payment you like.
When a customer agrees to buy your item with whatever payment, you can mark the
item as payment received.

EDIT: nope they only work with Paypal

eBay requires all sellers listing on eBay.co.uk to offer payments through PayPal (with some limited exceptions)

You could also try etsy, they definitely allow sellers to accept Bitcoin.

I didn't list any item to sell on Ebay recently but I know they are not accepting Bitcoin for sure and you don't have to use PayPal if you just add your bank account.
If you read their payment policy page you can see they are accepting credit and debit card, ApplePay and GooglePay and for some specific approved categories there are additional online payment options like Allpay, CertaPay and others.
It's about time for Ebay to add Bitcoin and maybe that will happen at some point after Rakuten added support for Bitcoin recently, but I would not count on that, and all attempts to make some alternative crypto marketplace failed so far.

They now state that apart from a few categories, you have to be prepared to accept PreyPal.

Pretty much. AFAIK they are just as strict (if not more strict) with using any sort of alternative payment method other than PP/credit card through their platform.

Be prepared to accept PP or just give up using ebay. These are essentially your only two choices.

If you really want BTC, then perhaps try selling on the goods subforum of Bitcointalk. TBZ and others use it quite regularly to list random items of interest.

If you're wanting to accept bitcoin, then perhaps you list via facebook which I'm fairly certain doesn't require you to utalise their preferred payment partner (as I don't know they even have one).

You could also list items here for sale.  And, if you are concerned with privacy, you could always start up a new UID which is permitted.  If you are going down the escrow path as well (whilst using a new UID) then be very clear users have the option to choose from a list of escrows.  Otherwise, it'll backfire if you are seen to be escrowing for yourself (think Tomatocage / Quickseller ).

What are you selling?

I dont think eBay will allow bitcoin to be used as a payment method, unless it is through some kind of escrow service they approve.

The policy you cited says that eBay only allows payment methods "that offer strong protection for buyers and sellers", and they explicitly disallow irreversible methods such as cash in the mail, and Western Union payments.

This is what I mostly use because in my experience, it is pretty easy to navigate and you can put it in the product description that you are only accepting through bitcoin, that might just be my experience because Facebook is a popular social media site.
