Canton Fair or China Import and Export Fair is  one of the largest and oldest trade fair in Asia, held twice a year in Canton Guangdong, China.This year it will start on April 15, 2021.

The trade fair is going online to comply on the Covid 19 protocol of social distancing and no mass gathering.

As the trade fair is online, surely the payment is thru online also and I'm thinking what are the other payment method they will accept.

Is bitcoin, bitcoin cash, Ethereum and other cryptocurrency are included in their payment method!?
Or, do any of you will pay bitcoin on the upcoming Canton Fair?

since the event is located in china, they may favour the use of NEO here. but since BTC is popular worldwide, they may include it in their payment option.
but dont know if they will indeed add crypto payment option. normally, you can pay using debit/credit card in this kind of event. couldnt access their official website though. so dont know their accepted payment methods here.

It is more possible for small retail stores and individual sellers to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment in China than in this huge Canton Fair. Not to mention that this bi-annual trade fair is brought in large part by the Chinese government.

I'm sure agreements and eventually contracts originating from this export and import trade fair are going to be amounting to the millions and all will be settled through banks and therefore fiat.

They might consider using the digital yuan, this is a very good opportunity to spread their new digital currency, I do not know exactly if they will accept payment in cryptocurrencies, but certainly if they did, Bitcoin would be in the forefront and then Ethereum, if they chose Bitcoin, this would be a great global propaganda for Bitcoin and from We'll definitely hear a lot of good news next.

If something is going on online and the payments are also processed online, it doesn't necessarily call for cryptos and doesn't automatically encourage people and institutions to use cryptos. After all, there are enough payment methods which are centralized and rely on fiat but work perfectly fine in an online environment. As long as this is the case, there isn't a huge incentive to adopt cryptos, especially since this might not go okay with the authorities. Given that the event is very soon and there were no announcements of even considerations about Bitcoin or cryptos in general, I think that's not going to happen.

Well, in my opinion, if the event is government sponsored then it may be possible that they might tell the participants as part of government policy not to include Bitcoins in the accepted payments part. I mean the government in China is not that friendly with Bitcoin, even though it is widely known. It maybe possible that these companies who will participate in the fair might deal with Bitcoins outside of the fair and since it is online then all they need is a contact number.

I'm not interested with such fairs if I don't know what's in it. But with the payment method, I might try to pay them with a few bits that they'll be requiring as an entry for this trade fair.

After looking for some websites that are dealing with the payment method related to the canton fair, I haven't seen one that accepts bitcoin. They're accepting bank deposits and other fiat payment processors, no crypto/bitcoin.

Havent read about crypto payments in their official websites ;
- https://www.cantonfair.org.cn/en/news/article/

But there are only three possible payments that CANTON FAIR accepted;
  • Online Payment (thru Paypal)
  • Bank Transfer
  • Cash Payments

Even a particular company wanted to accept crypto payments but they are under CANTON's business agreement about the way they'll gonna send payments as per above said.
