I was able to run 11gpus without any molex

when i tried 12gpu it sometimes worked but caused windows to crash.. now i have tried with molex the mb is not working at all. no light on ethernet either. i unplugged everything did cmos reset over night still no light..

While i was trying the molex i did plug the wrong end of the pcie cable which did not start the second psu then i unplugged everything worked. Tried with molex for the last time then the mb not started since.

any pointers from experienced users please i probably damaged the mb somehow but it is always good idea to ask incase if there is anything else

(i tried with both psus no start. psu test does not spin the fan when 12pin is plugged to mb otherwise works fine. )
i unplugged ram, cpu all pcies everything  and only used one ram still no power or no light on ethernet. blown the fuse of the mb i guess ?

What else i can try before replace the mb?

First you need to verify that both of your PSU's are working.  If you have 24 pin short plug, test the PSU individually.  If you don't jump pin 16 and 17.  If they both power on then move to the next step below.

If both power up, then next step is to remove all of the everything from the motherboard (ram, pci cards, drives that are connected.)  Clear the cmos and then plug in just one power supply, 1 stick of ram, keyboard and plug into the onboard video (dvi-d port).  If the system powers up, then you know the motherboard is good.

Then start checking your gpu's one by one by plugging them into the PCI-e 16x slot on the motherboard.   If they all check, then your gpu's are good too.

At this point it comes down to either riser cards and or the pci-e 1x usb cards.

So plan on spending time testing each one of them.

You said you plugged the wrong end of the PCIe cable, how come you don't see smoke coming out of the motherboard? Or you decide to leave that part out? When such happened to me in the past it ruined my motherboard and again motherboard isn't a stabilizer or something similar, they don't use fuse, I'm guessing the motherboard is toasted

no i think this didn't cause why would i hide anything my friend i did a mistake and i don't care what people things, we make mistakes and learn from it. The psu did not fire up so i think what i done is using the second psu to power the molex. in the handbook says use the same psu which is powering the motherboard should be powering the molex too.  otherwise might cause damage which i think it did.

i never needed molex i thought it might give more stability but ashrock is rubbish making this update about molex is actually not needed for powered risers but everywhere on their website is saying plug the molex. I think it is an old board and they don't care about updating. They don't realise its probably the one of the most selling gpu in 2021. Big companies like this spending fortune for ads etc i wish they care about the support and updates for their product. At the end i got a new board now working fine with the same system and i will not use the molex on this one.

I will write this super nasty so you remember to never be like this again.

"You are a greedy pig and you lost a working 11 card rig cause you wanted to make it a 12 card rig. Asrock is not rubbish you are rubbish"

Now read the quote get mad as fuck at me but I am simply telling you the truth.

Same for anyone killing off an 11 card rig try to make it 12 cards = greedy and stupid.

There is no positive side with the move you made.
I can find 100 threads of people trying to max a board to th most possible cards that end with a fail.

We are in a time that cards are like gold.
you could trash every card all 11 doing what you did.
hoping you trashed only the board but actually most likely you will find you trashed 1 or 2 of the cards.

let me show you why I am nasty

I got 4 of these cards for 182 a piece  back in September here that are listed at 656
https://www.ebay.com/itm/VisionTek-AMD-Radeon-RX-5500-XT-Graphic-Card-8-GB-GDDR6-1-61-GHz-901316/265105912295?

you have 11 cards pretend they are the card I listed 11 x 656 = 7200 +

add 1 more card at 26 mh it is $2.60 a day

so you bet 7200 worth of gear to make $2.60  a day more.

I am sorry you fucked up.

Next time do some math and do not risk a 7000 dollar rig for an extra $2.60 a day.

Was I nasty enough that you will remember the lesson?

BTW you should apologize to Asrock as they were not trash you are the maker of the issue not Asrock.

Ive found with this board that the molex needs to be applied to the board on all 12 of them i run.  And yes must be from same psu that is powering the rest of the motherboard.  Seeing as this was done then board doesnt work its pretty obvious its the problem.  Mine have been up and running for years.  Best $79 boards around.

The rule is you never cross psus on motherboards...or on a gpu/riser.  Becuase as you have seen it can kill the gear.

Sorry about the learning experience..mine long enough with enough gear mistakes will be made...gear will get toasted....learn from it.

But the board itself is probably the best high count gpu mining board made.

Im not gonna get into a pissing contest here.  The board works great.  I have no issues gettting 13gpus on them.  Sorry about your luck.  And lets all try not to be a-holes to each other.  You made a mistake, its not Asrocks fault.  You didnt follow the directions and plugged a cable in wrong.  Not the end of the world...but yeah sucks.

(Ask me about putting a 240v psu into a 120v and it ran low but ran...and smoke a gpu in the process.....i blame myself...as you should blame yourself there is no other fault but our own actions).

Now I did the stick I will be doing  a carrot very shortly.

Here is the carrot:

I placed an order for nicehash

I am going to mine at this address

https://solo.ckpool.org/users/146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3

for about 10 hours.  If it hits a block I will toss some coin to op so he can buy a new rig.

   "bestever": 64521788607

To all gpus are like next to impossible to get. So be careful with your builds.

At op maybe you get lucky.  Odds are small as I placed 0.001 to buy the hash so it is about a 6500 to 1 shot
