0.017BTC today is too big for a Minecraft account but it wasn't during that time, the purchase was done back Nov 2015. I'm sure the user who got the funds have already spent the BTC at such a rate as well.

Every time I think of the BTC I've got and spent over the years, it's just making me regret spending. If they were just kept for good in my wallet, I might not be worrying about what could happen when the entire fiat system will crash.

Anyone who has used Bitcoin as a currency for a longer period than a year will have a similar story to share it is just one of the drawbacks to using a volatile currency like Bitcoin to buy every day things. This is why we see so many people talk about Bitcoin not being a currency but something that you should invest into and not use for daily transactions since the potential of the market surging is too great to make it worthwhile.

My advice would be to purchase items like these in fiat currencies and use Bitcoin for investment until it becomes more stable and predictable like fiat currencies which should be achieved once we get closer to the total Bitcoin mined.

You will just hurt yourself if you look into the past when you purchased some goods or services using bitcoin. I had a friend before who is good at arts stuff. I needed a project to submit but I don't have the cash to pay. Since he knows bitcoin also I asked him if he wants to be paid in bitcoin because converting bitcoin in our country at that time is difficult. He agreed to be paid 0.01btc which is only 100$ that time, now the current value of it is more than $600. I don't know if he still didn't spend it but during those times, spending bitcoin is really unavoidable because that is our only source of income.

Yeah, not planning to go down that path, I've seen enough. I also had a friend who had paid for a mobile phone in BTC, and it wasn't even for himself, he had purchased it for a friend of his. It must have sucked, since I knew him, I know for a fact that chances are that he wouldn't have spent it otherwise. Despite that, as others have also mentioned, some had lost BTC on old HDDs that were either thrown away or became corrupt, that's even worse.

let's move on ...
the price of btc at that time and now is very different. after all, why be sorry? do you wish you could know the future so prefer to hold your btc at that time? oh come on ... it should be a valuable experience because you have done transactions with so much btc when compared to the current price.
take the positive side, seeing the past as a lesson is good, but don't regret it ... there are so many things we can still do, so let's try to do better.

Was crawling through an old Blockchain.info wallet when I found the following transaction, judging by the date and the price I had paid, it's a similar if not the exact transaction in an effort to purchase a migrated Minecraft account, quite a few years ago.

It was approximately $5 back then, well, the equivalent amount of BTC would be worth over $1.000 now. That probably turned out to one of the most expensive Minecraft accounts ever bought. Thinking back, I wish I had paid via credit card from the official website.

Anyone had any similar experience?

There are so many things I paid through BTC back then so I don't really want to look back to those transactions since I would just regret it,
I bought some mobile load through BTC and other small transactions back in 2017 and 2018 and it would be a huge amount now.

I have felt the same way when I paid my friend with bitcoin at that time the price of bitcoin was still cheap and now I take another look at the tx and I am surprised to see the nominal amount I am paying now
Well, at that time the price of bitcoin was low so no sense wallowing in hindsight because if we knew that the prices will go up this high and we tell them just to pay less, I don't think that no one is going to believe you, it is a matter of perspective and time. It's just that in our current perspective, it looks unreasonable to pay that amount but if it was back then, I don't think that we are going to have any problem.

bitcoin when it was started was nothing and not popular, many holders of bitcoin in the past regretting what they have done in the past. as youve said back then it was %5 and bitcoin price slowly pumping up and now $1,000. if you paid cash maybe your bitcoin now is holding and pumping.

I bought a laptop for about ~2 BTC several years ago... A top of the line one, but yeah... It would have been enough to buy a small house in a lot of country's right now.
Well at the least you got a laptop, it was the prices back then and not the prices now that was the cause so there is no need to feel regret. If we only didn't need things to survive daily and we are the same as other rich people, you could still have that 2 BTC. In my country, I am pretty sure that I can buy around 2 or 3 condominium units with that much bitcoin.

Yup. I've got similar experience not just ones nor twice but many. As much as I can, I'm no longer looking at my old purchases because when I've bought or sold bitcoin in the past, that's it and there's no looking back. What's important is that I've used my bitcoins back then to those purchases that I've ever needed. That's why we're holding it today, we don't want to sell it if we know that the value of it will become higher anytime soon.

What a good thing to say to move on, this is how it should be for us now. We should not talk about the past because it's a mere contribution to what has happened today. Everything about our purchase and trading history transaction is only for this day to be counted. I once sold an altcoin which was $200 to bought some important things and 3 months later it became $3000 this is not a joke but I don't feel any regret about it because what I bought was more than that amount can give me. Things like that more often happened to us in this industry, so we should know how to move on when such events strike us again.

Definitely, there's no other way to deal with this, moving on is essential, after all, we all learn from similar past experiences/incidents. I'm sure I will find plenty of transactions if I look even further, both incoming and outgoing transactions. Daydreaming about holding my BTC from the past is a wonderful thought though, makes you wonder, "What if?".

It's over though, now we should be looking forward.

I dont think any of us can beat the Pizza guy but still, I started earning through signature campaigns and used to get 0.025BTC/weekly which was approximately 100$ and 2 weeks payment was equal to my monthly home EMI. So what did I do.!!! Sold the BTC every month, paid the EMI and spent the other half for partying. I think I have earned more than half BTC in total and I spent money like water. And guess what, am still paying my EMI and I dont have spare BTC now.. Move on or Be angry on myself everyday...?

I try not to look at the price dynamics after my transactions because I'm not ready to face how much it cost by today's standards Grin
I haven't bought goods/services with BTC, but I did lose some money on bets about a year ago. Back then it was around $20, but now it's $120 which is a pretty big sum. That being said, it's not even close to that jump from $5 to $1000 in your case. But I think that we shouldn't regret the decisions we've made when the price was different. I think I've heard that the guy who paid for the famous pizzas didn't regret doing that even when the price was around $20k per coin.

I also used to be in signature campaigns back in the summer of 2017, I was a full member back then, and was earning a decent amount of BTC for current standards. On a quick search I made, I found one of the campaigns I used to be, in a matter of 3 weeks I had made 0.0112 BTC, which is now equivalent to approximately $600. It sucks to see how much BTC was given back then. I also converted it to fiat every once in a while back then.

I doubt that money is still there somehow but regardless that amount might not be the pricest one there are more transactions that might caught your eye just search on web the most expensive buys on BITCOIN. Aside from your content it might be regretful for others if they have that kind of amount in their wallet in the past.

I also used to be in signature campaigns back in the summer of 2017, I was a full member back then, and was earning a decent amount of BTC for current standards. On a quick search I made, I found one of the campaigns I used to be, in a matter of 3 weeks I had made 0.0112 BTC, which is now equivalent to approximately $600. It sucks to see how much BTC was given back then. I also converted it to fiat every once in a while back then.

I used to make more than 0.125 BTC for months but couldnt keep myself selling it because of my financial conditions, I dont have much regrets about it but I just imagine what would it be if I had not sold them.!!

Also, I dont have regrets because I have made better decisions later in my life and invested smartly in coins which had some future. There are many friends of mine who sold when they felt like and regretting now.

I acknowledge that similar incidents are quite common and there are way worse scenarios than mine. Myself too, have found plenty of transactions I wished I never had done, but nothing can be done to change that. I'm grateful for any BTC that was left from the past and as a result, I've earned a decent amount of money.
