Experience with Trading Bots

Hi Guys,

i have been in the crypto world for a little bit but not to long- bought first BTC end of 2017 begin 2018 (and some Alts as well) and sat trough the whole bearmarket.
Also have i thrown some money into shitcoin ICOs.

Since this bull market i tried trading a little bit (doing "okay" nothing special but its alright) as i have a job where i work often long and @#%*& underpaid hours i dont have the nerve and time spending my spare time infront of the PC to check the charts and do active trading.


Has anyone actually had some good experience with (right set up) trading bots?
If so can you recommend any - that would be nice!
Or have you maybe some warnings about scams(which bots definitely not to use, or what to look for in a bot to avoid it beeing a scam)

The best and legit trading bot right is the Kucoin bot. It has a DCA and Grid trading which is perfect to newbie traders. It has built in suggested bot setup base on the price history of the coin so you can just use the default setup. So far this is the only trading bot that I know. The rest of the trading bot offered by a random user is most probably a scam bot especially if it is from a newbie or lower rank account.

There’s a massive list you can take a look through here: Crypto Trading Bots. I don’t know how well curated or vetoed the list is, so any option you go for should be thoroughly looked into. Some of those bots have their corresponding Service thread on the forum, where you may find further feedback and experience from its users, besides being able to ask whatever you need to know.

Hi mate yeah I did. But not so good cause the bot that I tried only do long position via binance and it also got some delay. So Im not sure whether will gonna try again using not.

Bots can not help you if you set a bot up with stupid paramaters that always end with losses when you use those parameters for manual trading or bot trading.

Remember that bots are not tools that generate money once you run them, they are not mining tools, so you need to build an appropriate strategy and the bots will automate all these processes.
If you don't have time to read charts, running a bot will not help you much or add a lot of money to you.
The best way for beginners is to buy before a specific or timeless event occurs or using DCA.

I don't have any experience using bots for trading and even someone will tell me that it legit but I don't feel any interest to use this thing. I'm not hating trading Bots but I just wanted to make trades on my own and not relying on others.

That's right, bots are not money-generating or mining tools. There needs to be a chart analysis before using it. Because, we shouldn't use bots carelessly. Instead, it will make you suffer losses from using the bot itself. Sounds good, it uses a bot and runs automatically. However, behind this, there must be action before you use it. Namely predicting and reading graphs, one of them. Bots with recommended settings are also not always able to generate profits, if you don't know what is happening. It is better to set up the bot manually with the results of your own analysis, however, it is not easy to set up. Sometimes our analysis can miss the mark, even the experienced.

You cannot rely on bots on an ongoing basis. Because it is you who run the bot yourself. Without sufficient knowledge about crypto trading, I don't think it's just yet to use bots. Because, using a bot also requires the same abilities when we are trading. The only difference is that after we setup the bot, the bot will run the commands that have been set automatically, of course you can't just leave it. You still need to monitor the bot just like you monitor the charts. Because, if market conditions have changed, the bot will still run the previous settings. The bot cannot automatically change its settings. We are the driving force of these bots, bots just make it easier

In theory trading bot should work well but it's not so easy. You need to be online all that time and follow the charts. With that in mind I prefer doing all myself instead of bots. Everyone has different ways to do it tho.

There are many bots are available in the market and people are making good money time to time but how long they will stay in profit side will be a big question because bots cannot perform in all market conditions hence we cannot expect same kind of performance in near future just because of past records.

So, it would be much better to learn technical analysis so that you will become an analyst and you will be able to generate your own signals for your own trading purposes. This will sustain and will get you profits for long-term.

This is one good example about real experience in trading bots. And unfortunately, you had a bad one. Never used a trading bot ever since I am into crypto. But maybe, I have time to do on my own. In time, he will learn the tricks on this trade and he can use it throughout his trading career in crypto. He can't learn those tricks overnight but patience is the key.

You sound like you decided to go for making use of trading bots but my humble suggestion to you is, never ever trust any bots for your capital. It will be very much similar to allowing some stranger to handle to your trading account including access to your capital. Because, bots are nothing but set of instructions as per the coders and anything could happen against market volatility.

For OP, if you are new in trading, I highly suggested studying first the basics or cores of trading before using such tools or trading bots to automate your trading.

When we are good at basics of trading then we can easily develop our own strategy which will be much safer to handle our capital in trading environment. Only due to lack of time to find for learning basics of trading, most people are going for bots but ending up with unexpected results.

Not with Gunbot. All the trades that you are going to do are private and it's between you and your exchange. It's not a cloud service type of bot so only you have the access to that. Unless you have started the bot with delinquent type of parameters, you'll be okay.

You don't seem to know much about what developers could do to alleviate that. There are options and possible ways to take advantage of the market volatility.

Maybe I could try this one (Gunbot). Because honestly, I didn't try any of them, and the reason is that I simply don't give my trust to anyone. I know that trading bots actually exist this time but to find a legit and working bot is really hard to find and it feels bad hearing about disappointment and complaints.
That is why I'd stick to what I normally do in trading, well, manual trading gives me more learnings.

I do not have much experience using bots, but a few days ago, I am trying to use bitsgap to know if I can profit using the bot. So far, I see the bot needs to be set before it runs. I still confuse to have the right setting and that needs more time to learn. After a short time using the bot, I think I still prefer to use manual trading, and I use the Binance app besides using the bot. So I suggest you learn the basic lesson of trading because that is the key to trade manually.

As i was into trading a little bit (read some books, did some research, did my master degree in business finance where i also touched the subject), i just want to get some feedback in generall regarding bots as i never was interested in the issue till now. Honestly I never heard about such a strategy so far in my 5 years of trading experiences. But I am always having stoploss for all my entries so that I will not wasting my time to get back into a fresh trade to recover my losses.

You are sounding like a professional trader; because you are making use of stoploss for perfect reasons and also you are good at generating your own signal and more importantly your signals are good for consistently getting you profits. I have read always most bots will be working like this in long run because bots are just programming codes which cannot be coping up with ever-changing different market conditions; but it would be much better instead of getting you false signals, your bots are not at all generating any signal; at least this way your capital will be secured.

I had plans to buy bots at many times because of lack of time to trade by myself but instead of risking with bots then I decided to invest only on bitcoin for holding purposes and not for trading purposes.

How difficult are the bots to implement..I mean does it need a laptop or just a mobile device... Do I have to deposit there. Or copy out the coding

Well, it is --my me and my friends are actually enjoying the benefits of bot trading bots. Fees are very minimal, with almost zero commission rates, and also time being spent checking charts and monitoring the prices is saved. Kucoin bot is one of the best platforms we are using. But we currently do diversify and currently trying different platforms like trading together with professional traders. I think this is the best option I could suggest. Copy trading is actually way better than trading bots. However, I don’t want to provide a specific platform. You may copy trading at your own risk.

Remember, I guess there are so many people who already said that trading bot is robot you can't depend on this tool for your trading plan. Robot is computer you have to set the target price that you will buy and the target price that you will sell your coin when you get profit or loss.

And those things need some strategy especislly for you. There is no trading bot that can give you a signal either buy or sell, there is no automatic feature to know signal buy and sell. It means, the trading bot need a good strategy and you have to overcome it. I suggest to know more about trading strategy first and you can use the trading bot as your tool to trade.

Ohh, so mean you and your team are trying to develop bots?

Anyway, having a passion for trading could influence our minds to be more proactive and even we don't use bots it surely will works. In fact, successful traders never know about this until new trading technologies are endorsed to the public. And creating a bot is simply of the continued creation to make help for traders especially to those who are in the hectic schedule but I'm not really sure if this thing works so well compared to manual trading.

btw about the trading bots, so far, I never use this kind of trading bots. I never heard about it and also try to explore but I am still doubtful because not all trading bots can really work well. Although it will help us very well, but it needs certain trading bots, a trusted ones, and also reputable in order to get it working well. if we use bad trading bot, it may give bad infleunce to us.

This is good list of trading bots and myfriend is using Gunbot and you’re right if you’re set-up is not good then using BOT is using since my friend lose a lot of money because of the wrong set-up.

If you’re not that good in trading but still want to try then better to use the default settings but you have to understand that using BOT can’t guarantee profit, it will still depend on the market condition.  You also need to invest with the BOT you’re using, and there’s one time fee for Gunbot.

I guess everyone has to try something sooner or later to get your experience;) I never used Gunbot but we all almost have heard about it and you cannot go wrong trying a reputable bot. From what I have seen, it is a solid program that does all it is supposed to say. Just remember,,, as I said, you must have a strategy on your own. The bot only does what you tell it to do, it does not automatically generate profit or finds signals:)

There are free and open source ones that you can tweak to your specifications, I don't get why you paid for one. If you whip through the content of the Crypto Trading Bots, you’ll see that every entry on the list has information about the supported platforms, which tend to be one or multiple options amongst Browser, Desktop, iOS and Android.

In order to get a general idea, back in the day, and with no intend to endorse anything here, I took a look through the documentation provided by one of the platforms that seems to have some reputation here, and that has a running live thread: Gunbot.

Now the interesting exercise here is to at least read through the examples and explanations provide over the first couple of pages within the thread, as well as their Wiki: https://wiki.gunthy.org/. The idea is to derive the type of features that these bots have/should have, understand that there are multiple algorithms (and how they work), understand the type of parameters that the support (and what they do), see how they react in adverse market conditions (depending on the algorithm used and the set parameters) … and eventually, determining if one considers himself capable of understanding how these bots work, and being on top of their parametrization.

If you whip through the content of the Crypto Trading Bots, you’ll see that every entry on the list has information about the supported platforms, which tend to be one or multiple options amongst Browser, Desktop, iOS and Android.

In order to get a general idea, back in the day, and with no intend to endorse anything here, I took a look through the documentation provided by one of the platforms that seems to have some reputation here, and that has a running live thread: Gunbot.

Now the interesting exercise here is to at least read through the examples and explanations provide over the first couple of pages within the thread, as well as their Wiki: https://wiki.gunthy.org/. The idea is to derive the type of features that these bots have/should have, understand that there are multiple algorithms (and how they work), understand the type of parameters that the support (and what they do), see how they react in adverse market conditions (depending on the algorithm used and the set parameters) … and eventually, determining if one considers himself capable of understanding how these bots work, and being on top of their parametrization.

I have used gunbot probably around the first time it came out to very later stages (haven't used it this year since I just bought and hold so no need for a bot) and I can tell you that it is one of the better ones in the market. It is not my kind of thing to shill about something, so I will say that it is probably the best, and at least best I have ever used but then I would like to talk about what is bad about it, so that it wouldn't be just an idiotic shilling.

I think if you are a person who has no idea about trading, no idea about indicators, if you have zero clue what "bollinger band" type of things mean, what MACD means, basically nothing about trading at all, you will 99% will lose money. Sure gunbot has easier configurations that you can use, but that doesn't mean that you will use them and make money, so you should know a bit more about trading to make profit with gunbot, otherwise it is useless if you are not a trader at all.

I don't have any experience using a trading, maybe you can try the kucoin bot, but I have no idea how to set it  up that's why have never tried using it, and I don't encourage using bots for trading cause no matter how they make it look like, it doesn't bring a guarantee profit and the risk of getting losses trading with a bot that does not have any feelings about your capital is really high, try learning how to trade yourself it's more better than trading with bot.

I haven't used any trading bot personally, but from what I'm hearing from those who did use them I can say that it usually doesn't work as good or even works terrible at time if you 're trading amount is small, but if you're trading with around $100k or more you can make some money out of it since with a good strategy you can make the price or dump in coins/token with less liquidity and slowly sell on top/buy on bottom and rinse and repeat.

You can also trade with lower amounts like $10k using front running bots on decentralized platforms like Uniswap(not going to work for smaller traders because of the ETH network fees currently) and Pancakeswap and get around 1-5% per trade depending on how low the liquidity is and how you configure the trading bot.

It also depends on how good of a trader you are and how frequently you can tweak things. As you said it is a good way to make money in short term, and even that is only if you are a good trader. Which means you have to know what you are doing, you should be making profit trading manually without the need for a bot, you should know how to read the market and act accordingly, and you should be able to use the bot that way so that you could make a profit.

All of these depend on many stuff you are capable of and that is why it is not ideal. Obviously if you can do both of those things, that means you can use it and make a profit, but that means you can make profit anyway, only difference is you can do it short term per day while bot can do it every single minute, that is the only difference. Think about the bot as you yourself trading all the time and you would understand.

Once a very senior trader told me that don't trade using bots until you have created that bot yourself or you know how to create one. You see all the big companies who trade in the stock markets, whom we call the institutional investors use bots to make trades, there is obviously no doubt that at least 50-60% of crypto trading volumes come from trading bots each day. These big institutional investors have a large team of software engineers who design, develop and audit their bot. You will often see huge audits of these bots being undertaken before they are declared fit for trading.

But the problem with bots is that they don't have brains. You on your own have to put a strategy inside the bot and the bot will perform in the way you have told it. Or you will buy the strategy from the person you have brought the bot. In both cases, the problem is you are using third-party software on your valuable account. Exchanges do provide withdrawal restrictions for these bots but they can trade in any way they want.

A Layman like you and me cannot audit a third-party bot in different market conditions on different parameters to ensure they don't hurt your capital also any external help would eventually mean leaking the very main source code of your bot which can be easily manipulated. The external help is pretty costly too. So in Nutshell, I would recommend you to stay away from all kinds of trading bots. They are not for retail traders. But yes if you own have the skillset to create your own bot definitely go and create one and use it. You might find some great value for your bots if it ends up working and profitable.

Trading bots serve to be the alternative way but can't be sure it will help you more as it still needs your time to make it work.
There are a lot of bots you can try (just have a try), but be cautious enough to deal with people offering such tools as we can't deny that many were made to scam people.

Based on the trading experience that I have, I can conclude that any trading robots don't work in the long run over a long period of time. A robot can perform well in a bull market, but when the market phase changes to sideways or bearish, then the bot will simply start to drain and you will not have time to rebuild it. In my opinion, a bot can be an assistant, but you cannot completely delegate trade to it.

In my opinion you should not be looking at trading bots to make up for the fact that you do not have the time to trade, instead you should be looking for long term trading or investment strategies.

I am sure that each and every subject we are discussing here with new topic, might have already been discussed here with at least 10+ pages. But, unfortunately no newbie are trying to make use of them but they simply prefer to have their own topic to hear opinion from this community. You tried premium bots? I guess risks may not differ even with premium bots. Against unexpected market volatility, if bots stay calm then we may get chances to escape but most bots go struggling against sudden market conditions and generates inefficient signals which lead to losing trades. The best and legit trading bot right is the Kucoin bot. It has a DCA and Grid trading which is perfect to newbie traders. It has built in suggested bot setup base on the price history of the coin so you can just use the default setup. So far this is the only trading bot that I know. The rest of the trading bot offered by a random user is most probably a scam bot especially if it is from a newbie or lower rank account.

This is an interesting take and I agree with it, people concentrate too much on the profits a bot can give during a bull run without really understanding that almost anything and anyone can be in profits during such a massive movement.

The real test for a bot is how do they do when the market is ranging or when it is in a bear market, if the bot can at least breakeven then you could be in the presence of a good trading bot, but most of the time we see those bots give up all the profits they got during the bull market and many times even more than that making it useless as a tool to try to profit from the markets.

When you are confident about making profits in bullish run then what is the need of going for bot to trade with? I mean in a predictable market condition, it is always better to go for manual trading rather than believing into bots. So, this must be definitely a misconception about bot trading.

free bot trading does not seem designed to be maximally designed for traders, the bot was created purely not to make people help out in trading. so I think it's fair to put a big risk because we are using a cheap mode and there is no advantage whatsoever, so if you want to use an accurate trading bot, my advice is to use a premium one and from a trusted developer.

Actually it could really be on neither side when we do talk about outcomes because it isnt always that negative and mostly those people who are complaining specially if they had lost is that they do believe that bots

I've always believed all trading bots are scam and if not, mostly don't make profitable trades. I've had my share of experience with some of these bots and I've concluded that the best thing to do is learn trading personally and not depend on some trading bots. Trust me, many of these bots are made to help you make successful trades.
However, I am open to trying things and I guess I'd just try out the Kucoin bot you mentioned above. I hope I'll find it as useful and profitable as you have recommended.

Apparently, it was their option, and some traders are even satisfied with bots but for some reason also that I never have the interest to use this rather than sticking to manual trading. Because for real, everything that bots do is coming from us, if we fail to send a wrong decision, the bots will still follow it, so this means that the bot is just a clone. What I wanted to see is that the bot will have to do something to correct but that seems impossible since the algorithm is coming from the trader.

Apparently, it was their option, and some traders are even satisfied with bots but for some reason also that I never have the interest to use this rather than sticking to manual trading. Because for real, everything that bots do is coming from us, if we fail to send a wrong decision, the bots will still follow it, so this means that the bot is just a clone. What I wanted to see is that the bot will have to do something to correct but that seems impossible since the algorithm is coming from the trader.

You mean self-changing bot according on the market situation? It cant be possible and if there's one then you do really believe that it would just be sell out cheap or can be free?

Bots are for automation and its true that it is only following on whats been set by the trader and would execute those commands no matter neither you are losing or winning.

You would appreciate bots if you do know their actual purpose but if you are hoping for something more then it would really just frustrate you out.

Never used a trading bot! Because a year ago, when there was a massive collapse of the crypto and stock markets, bots did not save and everything went into a big minus! Therefore, I trade manually without bots! I am responsible for my trade Wink

How bots can save us in this market crash, it is ultimately just a tool to offload activities and give us more time to rest, its performance seems to be based on a certain number of starting and ending points, which in some cases can generate steady cash flow when the market is within those fixed points. However, as this market may offer so many different starting and ending points, the bot's design also becomes pointless over time, people still dominate when they act with their thoughts and have an independent strategy to deal with this market

It means you tried with outdated bot? I believe most of the bots which are available for free of cost are not getting regular update from devs which might be the another reason why people are not finding them effective for profit-making in crypto trading.

Another probable reason for getting error is, people are messing up with wrong setting. When you are going customized settings then you should be aware of what you're doing otherwise you may encounter unexpected errors time to time. People are going for their own customization with the expectation of making bots more effective in catching good trends but it is not happening in that way in most cases.

error depending on the type of bot you are using. if the trading bot used is a free bot with some reduced features, then it's no wonder that errors often occur. for premium bots, they will usually have more features and more support from the developer.

I myself have never used bots, because manual trading is better than having to use bots.

Hi Guys,

i have been in the crypto world for a little bit but not to long- bought first BTC end of 2017 begin 2018 (and some Alts as well) and sat trough the whole bearmarket.
Also have i thrown some money into shitcoin ICOs.

Since this bull market i tried trading a little bit (doing "okay" nothing special but its alright) as i have a job where i work often long and @#%*& underpaid hours i dont have the nerve and time spending my spare time infront of the PC to check the charts and do active trading.


Has anyone actually had some good experience with (right set up) trading bots?
If so can you recommend any - that would be nice!
Or have you maybe some warnings about scams(which bots definitely not to use, or what to look for in a bot to avoid it beeing a scam)

I am using an automated DCA trading bot (altcoins USDT pairs, spot account, Binance) based on signals from a trading group (monthly subscription fee 25 usd) on 3Commas. Monthly return is around 11% on invested capital. There is no maintenance or errors with the bot, no need to change the parameters, as you get everything preset up by the trading channel admins. There are fullscope tutorials and explanations for the settings and telegram channel for support. I started the in March and have so far no problems during dumps and pumps happened.
But this is only my experience, not a financial advice

I grew my $100 account to $2000 with a space of 1 week.  And ended up blowing it down to $0. Having a prior knowledge of this could hopefully be the best approach other than trading with bots that can't give a certain guarantee.

That must be really funny. I'm just wondering how you got blowing down to zero then you were able to make $2000 with your $100. I guess you might have continued with that bot so that you will get better chances to make profit because I had similar experience where I never got chances to make profits but only losses from first trade onward.

Did you change any of your getting before your bot turned to get you losses. Because, I doubt how a profitable trading bot suddenly changing into loss making one.
