It doesn't work like that, if a coin was forked by someone or by the developers itself then you will get another altcoin by default or you need to claim it which depends on project and forked coins are totally useless.

There are some which are staking, most of the wallets like Safepal Wallet where when they have something like an airdrop you could join that airdrop but you need to stake some altcoins or their own token.

Also if you stake your BNB in the Binance platform you could get a lot of different altcoins that are in the launchpad of the finance platform, Or join the launchpad to stake some of your USDT, BUSD, etc.

I'm not sure if they did it in a project but mostly you could buy the token in a project at a low price and there was no staking or something maybe after it was launched they could implement something like that.

Yes, it's possible thru staking. For example, joining Binance launchpad wherein you can stake your BNB in exchange for what coins currently on rewards.

There are also airdrops and have your current balance being snapshot.

To find those, you just need to be actively present everyday in crypto. There are no specific sites where you can receive some fresh news about it as they are popping anywhere. But reading everyday here in the forum, someone will share it here.

Where you get that information? Maybe there is and that was just a bonus because of using their wallet but I'm not sure if you can make money from that coin. well, I suggest not to chase them, not even sure that it really helps but probably you just waste a lot of time searching for this platform.

It's true but that will be related to the airdrop. You can receive this when you are holding crypto that will be doing fork. When this fork generate the new token and this will be airdropped to the all of the old crypto holders.
I think it's better if you can try to mine with your coin through launch pool rather than waiting for the fork to happen.

I bet you are referring to those airdrop that has another coin to received if you buy their coin. Ive seen this one before and just forgot what coin was that. But most of the times, it wasnt that worthy to purchase and buy that.
 
 Why dont you just stick to potential altcoins, hold them in a reputable exchange and trade them? In that way, it is more sense to buy good ones rather than looking for those free coins that wasnt have a value at all.

You can't give an general answer to that.
There are projects that are using Proof of Stake as their concept to mine and validate blocks of their blockchain. This means if you hold coins of that project and leave your wallet running and let it stake, then you will receive new coins of that project based on the amount that you already have staked.
The APY's for this projects are around 3 - 20% and projects that are using proof of stake are for example cosmos, polkadot, energi, Neo. Etherum will soon switch to Proof of stake too.
Also it occurs from time to time that holders of a certain coin will receive another coin as an airdrop. I think Ripple did something like that where everyone that holds XRP will get Flare.

OP, sometimes you get a token airdropped to you for hodling another token. That happens but it will depend on a pre-agreement between the dev parties. I once received GHOST for hodling ESH token in my private wallet on a 1:1 ratio. That was an agreement between Josh (the head of the ESH team) and the GHOST team. That airdrop was worth something then before the project was later abandoned. A few months later I also received another token called "Whackd" for hodling same ESH. Sadly, the Whackd token seems to be worthless as it is yet to be listed on any exchange till date. A few months ago, Binance customers were airdropped TWT. I got 100 TWT just for being registered on the Binance exchange. I believe a lot of people got that too.

That's what we call Airdrop which is very rare to find a good one, some exchanges are doing the airdrop on behalf of that token and if you're holding some amount of that specific token, then you can qualify to receive that free money.
