Now that Bitcoin is well-established on Earth, we should focus on strengthening the network by expanding nodes and miners across space. Placing miners and nodes on the Moon would be a great start to ensure Bitcoin lives forever. Imagine what would happen to the pioneer cryptocurrency if a major disaster strikes on Earth (like a meteor strike). If all nodes go down, Bitcoin goes away with them. Expanding Bitcoin's network infrastructure would be a wise idea to preserve its longevity. We now have a "Bitcoin Satellite" by Blockstream, but it's yet the time where we don't have a Bitcoin node on space. Do you think some company or startup will invest money in launching Bitcoin nodes (and miners) into space? If not, why? What will the future of Bitcoin look like once settled in space? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

two yes and no answers allow me to speculate based on what I understand, if there is an error, please correct it immediately.
First, yes: if a large company like Startup agrees to spend large amounts of money in the construction of bitcoin mining nodes, then all levels of the network are much more sped up and consume even higher energy sources. clearly the plus side adds to the incentive for other companies to invest in their money. the impact will be quite large.
second, no: that is, startups still do not want to spend a penny to contribute to the development of Node on the Moon, so we will witness a company decline which has been proven, the more they reject the growth of Bitcoin, the more they no longer have an ideal position among investors. Automatically indirectly the Startup seems not to want to be visited by parties who are happy with bitcoin. The point is that startups will be left behind in the future.

I imagine Bitcoin in the future will not touch the earth and remain in space, with the current situation that we see, It's really hard to say something that people might not believe. What is clear in the future Bitcoin is much more valuable, maybe, could be in the threshold of $ 500k, still in the sky. We are not talking predictions, circumstances that determine everything is 'may or may not'.

I can see Elon Musk doing something similar for cryptocurrencies that he's doing for his business "Starlink". If not, someone will eventually come along, and do the same. However, this really isn't a priority if your thinking this is a good idea for prolonging the life of Bitcoin, unless you plan on catering to undiscovered extraterrestrial beings, because currently not many humans are away from earth, and none at all are away from earth permanently.
For this to become a priority you would probably need established colonies on another planet, and even then there's far more things that would need to be prioritized than establishing a currency that can't be destroyed or is unlikely to be destroyed.
I'm not exactly sure who holds jurisdiction in space, and whether there is any at all, and that's why I say that Elon Musk might consider this in the near future. It could be beneficial to establish nodes outside of jurisdiction of governments, and prying eyes. That would really be the only justifiable reason that this could become a priority, and even then that's a stretch. I do have a feeling though that to launch anything into space, it would require permission from some sort of governing board.
I understand the idea of it is cool, but its not exactly needed any time soon.

if a major disaster strikes on Earth (like a meteor strike). If all nodes go down,
That's an extinction level disaster. If there were such a disaster that caused all bitcoin nodes spread across the globe go down, it is safe to assume that the same disaster (the meteor strike) is severe enough to cause the next mass extinction on earth, and we've had a dozen of these. So what's the point of bitcoin going on when there is no humanity anymore?

We haven't even colonized the Moon yet and we start thinking of this, we can utilize the seas of the Earth first before we do anything outside our world, seasteads are a hope for us, colonize the seas first and then we will worry about the Moon next.

I do think what would matter more is using the renewable sources of energy on the earth itself first since at the end of the day, mining is itself using a lot of power. We should start by making mining more green. Then we can extend it to other things. Things like :- Making sure lightning network works without bounds and at the same time we improve the waiting time and the network congestion needs to be improved first. Even for normal fee sometimes the transaction takes a lot of time which is something that might need a lot of improvement for sure. Investing millions on the moon mission is wasting those money to first secure bitcoins on earth. It might sound amazing for many people but at the same time we have to start improving the things on the earth first. We are far beyond reaching a 100% completion regarding the Bitcoin network. It's still in it's developing stage and more practical applications needs to be evolved ofc.

I think it's very early to think about space, to be honest. Firstly, there's no conclusive evidence that there are any intelligent species out there to discover it. Secondly, in case of a disaster, many things and beings will perish forever, and Bitcoin probably wouldn't be the top priority. Thirdly, I don't think Bitcoin is well-established on Earth. Bitcoin is used by around 2% of the population, which is not just a minority, but is a really tiny part of humanity. Moreover, only 60% of the population has Internet access, so the rest wouldn't be able to use Bitcoin even if they wanted to. I think we should still focus on making Bitcoin more accessible and more popular on Earth, given this data.

If I were the Startups, I would definitely choose to support and raise funds putting nodes to the moon. This is a very effective project and they could raise funds from the investors without even expecting returns. Assurance of keeping Bitcoin’s nodes alive even the worst thing happen is the best thing that is very much deserving of support.
Declining or rejecting the said project would make them feel regrets in the future, especially when Bitcoin reaches its benchmark and I hope Elon Musk would find a way to make this a reality and as usual for him. People have to be educated on how financial systems work and how they were taken advantage of and when that time comes, good luck with dollars and fiat currencies, I hope they can still live longer than they expect.

Future foresight is very good move which means to plan for the future at present to gain profit in the long run. This is technique opted by many business house and to establish Bitcoin full nodes in space is also a good plan but it is still far away. There are reasons for it because the prices of Bitcoin are increasing drastically and many major companies and investors are accepting and investing in Bitcoin and it is becoming mainstream method of payment these days but we still have not managed to reach our main goal as still btc is used by 1-2% of the actual world population. So this seems enough for you?The circulating supply is around 18.68 million and now we are moving ahead in the real world.
You are talking about the a disaster which could be the end of world so who will be there to make transaction in space? It maybe used by aliens then😁.My main point is that we can think of it as plan but first we need to btc to be adopted by all on the planet earth itself.Let Elon Musk colonize Mars first then maybe he will setup his first Tesla or Starlink space node mining Doge or Bitcoin.

Let's believe that it will true establishibg new nodes will enhance transactions better and faster. Placing mining equipment on moon might be too much even if you are preserving it's existence. In my opinion or maybe in a sense that placing mining gears on moon might be the last idea nasa will think of.

Cannot see a good reason to put nodes in outer space. You have delays, you have the cost of putting anything into space, you have the cost of the associated energy source. There might be a point at which all of this is solved, but it will be far away in the future.

I think you'll find the time lag on any messages to or from any platforms in space would be counter productive (blocks found on either side would cause countless forks) - (as would the cost of sending hardware into space - for what? Utalise solar energy in space Vs on the ground?) Bitcoin, as with any other crypto, is intended as a means to securely transmit payments between to parties, not as a store of wealth.
Sending one Bitcoin to La Luna, or Mars via a wallet addresses' Priv Key would be a novel way to send something intangible into outer space. (there has been the occasional 5¢ piece attached to rovers to show comparative sizes of rock samples).

Now that Bitcoin is well-established on Earth, we should focus on strengthening the network by expanding nodes and miners across space. Placing miners and nodes on the Moon would be a great start to ensure Bitcoin lives forever.
Although the Moon seems pretty close to some, at the moment a venture of this type is almost like science fiction (mining Bitcoin on the Moon) - because people haven't been to the Moon since 1972 (if I'm not mistaken) - and the reason is of course the price of such a venture. We will first have to wait for a permanent station to be made on the Moon - and then for some enthusiast to show up to start mining on the Moon 🚀🌙 On the other hand, NASA plans to send two people to the Moon - and EM SpaceX has been chosen for the landing. NASA seems to have big plans with the Moon this time, there seems to be no shortage of money. The firm-fixed price, milestone-based contract total award value is $2.89 billion. On the surface, the agency has proposed building a new habitat and rovers, testing new power systems and more. These and other innovations and advancements made under the Artemis program will ensure that NASA and its partners are ready for human exploration’s next big step—the exploration of Mars.

Trust me, if there was a extinction level event our last concern would be money. Plus, at present moment an extinction level event would destroy all of us. First, as pointed out above we would need to become a interplanetary species, which is something we aren't all that close too, and also Bitcoin or money as we know it might not exist by the time we do that. Establishing a colony doesn't mean its successful. The harsh climate, and work that would be required to actually develop that colony would mean it would take a few lifetimes until its probably considered safe. Landing up there, and having enough provisions for doing work on the planet doesn't mean its sustainable. Provisions at first would need to be brought from Earth, and for that to be cost effective would likely be based on the movement of the planet, so the window for travel is limited. This is getting into science fiction level of stuff, and the only reasonable way this would be established is through satellites rather than interplanetary as of right now, and that doesn't really offer that much benefits. We haven't even colonized the Moon yet and we start thinking of this, we can utilize the seas of the Earth first before we do anything outside our world, seasteads are a hope for us, colonize the seas first and then we will worry about the Moon next.
Moon really isn't that great of a place to have colonies unless its for strategic locations. Mars is the only really suitable location within scope, and we aren't even quite sure whether that would work out as we are theoretically planning. Terraforming a country, especially within our lifetimes is a daunting process, which might not be even possible, but would likely have to accelerated using over the top measures. I think Elon has suggested in the pass of dropping nuclear bombs to accelerate the process.

in 2017 many say things like this bitcoin is headed for the moon and will go to outer space but unfortunately that's just the assumption that those who see bitcoin are rising in price but basically bitcoin price is unstable today all we see bitcoin price is very high but for tomorrow bitcoin price no one knows maybe it can fall drastically or it can rise higher. This is what bitcoin is full of mysteries.

I think mining in space is not economically profitable right now. As soon as it becomes profitable it will certainly happen.
Right, the machines are to mine are expensive and the current cargo space prices of launching things in space is expensive, if I am right a water botle could cost you around 1k dollars to transport inside a rocket ship. I have a question though, what do we get if we mine bitcoin in space?
