unconfirmed BTC transaction...

Hello everyone

    I am new in this area and i would like to know i have withdrew my BTC from wallet to my other wallet and now its over 12 hrs and its still not confirmed

is it normal ? or anything i can do to speed it up ? i appreciate your help

Do you have a transaction ID we can look it? Without seeing the actual transaction, it's impossible to know exactly why it is taking so long... but the usual reason is that the fee rate used is too low.

https://mempool.space/ will give you a good idea of what is happening... currently a very LARGE amount of transactions are waiting... the absolute minimum fee to not get purged from the mempool of most nodes is currently 7.4 sats/vbyte...  However, to actually get included in a block, a transaction needs to be well over 100 sats/vbyte... if not 150-200+ sats/vbyte

You should have received a transaction ID of some description... or you should be able to see the transaction details. If you have the transaction ID you should be able to look it up on a blockexplorer like blockchair.com or blockchain.com or blockcypher.com etc... they will show the full details including the fee rate used.

Alternatively, you should know the bitcoin address that you sent the coins to on Binance... if you look up that address on one of those block explorers, you should be able to see the transaction as well.

If these details are confusing to you then contact Bitstamp support (or binance support) and ask them what the transaction ID and fee rate for your latest transaction was. This is public information and they should be able to tell you them.

If they give you a low fee rate or you find it from a block explorer after given a transaction ID, then that's most likely the cause of slowness.

Considering the current mempool situation, I think you should be patient with this. I don't think exchanges will spend more than 150 sats/vbyte to process users' withdrawal. Le's see how the weekend goes, if it's still terrible maybe next week is your lucky day.

Both of these are not really your wallets but your exchange accounts, they have full control over them and they can decide when to send them and what fees to use.
Use exchange only for trading, not for holding your coins, and download something like Electrum if you want to have control over your funds.

Exchanges overcharge their customers, batch transactions together, and generally send them with high fees. There shouldn't be a reason for you to wait 12 hours for an exchange withdrawal even with a clogged up mempool. I have never used Bitstamp, do they maybe perform batched withdrawals at a certain time of the day?

Check your withdrawal history on Bitstamp. It should contain information such as in progress, processed, or something like that. If it's been processed, there will be a transaction ID that you can enter in a block explorer as other members pointed out. If it still hasn't left the exchange, wait for 24 hours to pass before contacting their support and asking about it. Have you doublechecked that the receiving address from Binance is correct?

@OP this might not be a network issue but a crypto exchange issue since you are sending cryptocurrencies from your exchange wallet to a deposit address to another crypto exchange. Just do as what other members mentioned regarding you contacting the exchanges but just make sure that the transaction happened and is not in your wallet until now. Other than that you need to double check and see the possibility of you sending your Bitcoin to a Bitcoin Cash address which may complicate some things for the recipient address.

At that time you requested for withdrawal the required fee was around 200 sats that is why your transaction took time to proceed and I guess the transaction should be confirmed by now, If yes please state that and lock the thread.

It should get back to normal in less than 2 weeks, but I don't think that this is what you want to hear and I don't have a better estimation.

Since neither of the involved wallets is yours, you cannot do RBF or CPFP, the normal ways to speed it up.
You can try to accelerate the transaction with ViaBTC free accelerator, but you will have to find out your transaction Id and you will have to do the acceleration at exact hour (use an atomic clock like https://time.is) and you may not succeed in the first few attempts.

Open your Bitstamp account then head to your Withdrawal History. There should be a link.

Bitstamp charges 0.0005BTC per withdrawal. With that fee, your withdrawal shouldn't take 12 hours to confirm even by withdrawal batches.

So before anything else, take a look first at your withdrawal history so we aren't just guessing here.

OP's concern has some weight; I just had an incoming transaction which is still unconfirmed for over 36 hours (60.9 sats/vbyte). Blockchair says it's about 40000th priority out of a record 160K transactions still in the mempool this morning.

The last retarget was just 4 days ago so the next epoch is going to be a sour wait until at least May 1 according to cryptothis.

Edit: this is ridiculous, now it's 68000 placed out of 181K total transactions. I'm going to ask the other party to bump the fees.

Yeah... you're now looking at fees in excess of 200 sats/vbyte to stand any chance of "quick" confirmation times... 60 sats/vbyte is over 36 MB from the tip. That's at least 6 hours assuming no new transactions are added! and it doesn't look like the transaction rate is slowing down.

mempoolminfee is over 13 sats/vbyte!

I remember the #goodOldDays when I used to be able to send 1 sat/vbyte transactions and get confirmation in an hour

I'm in the same boat my friend, already 4 days waiting for a confirmation and it sucks hard.

As we can see the mempool is full and right now we have 190,000 unconfirmed transactions: https://mempool.space/

Today in the Spanish section of the forum a user show me how to use the replace by fee function on Electrum, just do right-click on the transaction and add more fees, that's one solution if you have this option in your wallet. So, I hope it works for you.
