would you say to the cops/authority that you know that the bomb threat was a hoax? if yes, then, maybe or probably depends on how much force you used or if they let the guy press charges against you. but if not I think self-defence would apply since you thought you and other people could get hurt from the bomb. don't take my word for it since this is only an opinion from a civilian.

Thanks for the information, I am just preparing myself to beat up people senseless because they are threatening people with a bomb, I am sure that people around me are going to be on my side when this kind of thing happens, I really hate people who do this fake bomb threats and swatting because they endanger lives all for the clout and personal twisted satisfaction.

It will depend a lot on the country you live in. In some countries you can kill someone if he enters your property without your permission and in other countries, if you kill him you will go to jail and you will have to pay compensation to his family even if he was a violent criminal with a long record who had broken into your house armed.

The same applies to this case.

Don't do this. The person you attack can sue you for assault, and you will possibly be criminally liable for the same.

Instead, you should contact the police or FBI who can investigate and pursue criminal charges against the person, if there is sufficient evidence.

You can say what you want, but that will not stop you from getting convicted of assault criminally, nor will it stop you from loosing a civil case, IMO.

You shouldn’t resort to violence in these situations. What you describe is not self defense.

I believe you know what is called "Law" and it exists in every civilised society. You aren't the law and its of great importance for you not to take the law into your hands. There is no place for jungle justice in the law and that is exactly what your planning. It would be better for you to find a way into gathering appropriate evidence against such person or persons and then, you look out for a way to subdue the person or persons and then hand them over to the appropriate authorities. You don't go about beating people up because you feel you can and your at your right. It won't end the violence and it would be a continuation of the corrupt practice and instigate hate in the minds of citizens. So, its best to let legal cases take its course.

self defense is usually universally spoken as "a clear and immediate threat"

if you know someone says 'im gonna kill you". but has no weapon and you know they are not actually going to kill you. then its not a threat. you know there is no intent. so you wont have a good defence

also to use the excuse of 'fake threat' you also need to prove they were the actual people that actually fake threatened

its not straight forward as someone makes a wild-ass empty claim and it absolves you of any responsibility on your side.. yes you have to be responsible too

your best bet is to find who done the bomb threats. create a police crime report about it. if the police cant do anything but the people continue to make their wild-ass fake threats. then inform the police that they are harassing and intimidating

and then. once you got your defence of harassment and intimidation.. then you can defend yourself

in short prep a harassment/intimidation defence not a 'they threatened to bomb but i knew its not a threat'
(harassment is prolonged and occuring multiple times. so make sure its logged that its not a simple 11 time event)

I believe that there should not be legal prosecution against you because you beat the shit out of the person who said false news about the existence of a bomb, even if this is a false rumor and you know that it is never permissible for that person to spread such lies because it causes fear and panic. It wreaks havoc between people and this causes great harm to all people. So I think the punishment should be on that person.

It depends on the scenario.

1. If you "KNOW" full that it is not a bomb threat and most of the people around him also knows that it is not real, then it is possible that you will be pursued, but the one making the bomb threat will also be pursued for "terrorism"

2. If you only "believed" that it is not true and you're not in full trust that it is not a bomb threat, then you may be called out to the station but you can be able to be released easily.

No matter what, making public bomb threat is a serious matter.

Lol. This is freaking hilarious. Look man, although we all have different sense of justice among ourselves, this is just wrong on so many levels. Which probably is why you can be sued if ever you decide to do that to anyone who does a prank around you. There may be instances where you can really do something to the perpetuator  depending on the seriousness of the crime being committed on the spot(I forgot what this is called supposedly) but even that still depends on which country you are from. I just cannot. Lol, you must be very fun at parties.

Just call some authorities who are in duty on that place. Most of those bomb scares are happening in crowded places and for sure that there are people who you can call for an assistance.
Don't punish through your hands, let the authorities beat them through due process.

By posting the question on here, you're probably undermining any potential 'heat of the moment' defence.
But as others have said, obviously contacting the authorities is the correct action.
If it was an actual bomb, then possibly you're on more solid ground as you may need to incapacitate the bomber in order to avert catastrophe.

Though, this hard question to answer since we barely know where you reside and the laws used by the government their but i don't see any reason why you should be pursue with legal action since you are not the one who makes the public bomb threat, though you'll be needed for litigation.
But you need to be sure the bomb threat is hoax.
