Hi, I have a new-to-me S17+_76. As soon as I got it I Flashed it with a micro SD with NiceHash's Firmware. The machine had all 3 boards working for 8 hours well at a lower than stock profile. Then I upped the profile to just below it's stock level 74Th. It was hashing really well. The room was toasty so I opened the window (Massachusetts). Then I woke up and saw the production dropped. After 4 hours Chain[1] dropped out. It was very cold in the room it was mining in, maybe it got too cold? So I reset the machine at the first profile at the lower rate.

Chain[1] wouldn't work: "src/chip139x.c:1049 chain[1] - Failed to receive chip replies" and "ERROR: driver-btm-chain.c:488 chain[1] - Failed to detect ASIC chips"

Then Chain[0] to did temporarily...it was coding a faulty sensor "ERROR: src/temp.c:172 chain[0] sen[1] - Disabling faulty sensor, pcb=26 chip=-64" , but still fired up temporarily and then "ERROR: src/temp.c:217 chain[0] sen[0] - Lost, no updates for 10 sec" so "chain[0] - Shutting down the chain". Then the machine would power down by itself and restart again. Then on the third auto-restart, same story as above but then "ERROR: src/power.c:161 Malformed power response"

I have read on multiple posts to ReFlash the machine, and some said to reflash the original firmware. So I tried to update the machine per Bitmain's instructions, to do the Upgrade on the Webrowser System's section. This did not work, it didn't have the correct Signature of course. So I then Flashed with a micro SD card this updated S17+ Bitmain firmware. After that the webrowser Systems page was a hybrid of Bitmain and NiceHash!! Some pages have the Bitmain Logo and some the NiceHash. Some of the functions are Bitmain, and some NiceHash!

https://i.ibb.co/6mRGVS7/IMG-4573.jpg

It was not very functional, I couldn't get some pages to open, like Miner Status,  and would show a 404 Error-Not Found. So I thought a hard reset from the machine's little reset button might do the trick. It reset everything, I needed to reset my mining addresses and wallet and such, but it still remembered the profiles that I had already autotuned on the NiceHash firmware. So I decided to open a new browser, and relog in...It was completely the NiceHash OS!!! But I still have access to the Bitmain hybrid controls in the original browser window. So weird.

So it looks like I did not successfully Flash the machine with the Bitmain Firmware. Any suggestions?

These are the Bitmain files that I put on the microSD: Boot.bin; devicetree.dtb; md5_info; runme.sh; ulmage (exec icon); uramdisk.image.gz; and version.
https://i.ibb.co/K9xN3RC/Bitmain-Files-on-micro-SD-card.png

The files I flashed from NiceHash are: Antminer-S17+-2.0.3-Nicehash.tar.gz; devicetree.dtb; passwd.txt; ulmage; uramdisk.image.gz

Thanks in advance

That's mistake number one, don't use that firmware.

(I'm not sure how to insert pictures that are not from a website but on my hard drive)

We can't see the image this way, you need to upload it here > https://imgbb.com/ and then copy-paste the link.

I'd say you did successfully flash it, but google chrome's cache is annoying, use a different browser or hit ctrl+F5 and your problems will go away for now.

If the flash doesn't fix the chips issues, please post the complete kernel log here, and don't forget to use the code tag

So the flash did not take hold. Suggestions? Should I try Flashing with the Bitmain S17+ Original Firmware instead of the Updated Firmware I tried?

I just logged in on a different computer completely, with safari instead of chrome and it's 100% the NiceHash Dashboard and system (no hybridization issue).

In that case, you either used the wrong files in the Sdcard or the Scard is bad, can you show me what files did you place on the Sdcard you used?

This is odd. So the screen shots I gave in last post is from my hard drive...the original files that I copy and pasted on to my microSD, but these are the actual files on my microSD. It somehow converted two of them in to executable files!

https://i.ibb.co/1qhPQTN/Screen-Shot-2021-04-19-at-11-37-14-PM.png

Looks like those 2 files do not have extensions on them, just the file name and no ".txt"

So if I change these file names to  "version.txt" and "md5_info.txt" do you think that would fix the issue?

Thanks for your help in this!

Here is more detail:

This is the original file downloaded from the Bitmain Website: "Antminer-S17+-user-OM-202006021031-sig_5968.tar.gz"

https://i.ibb.co/1ny70JG/Screen-Shot-2021-04-20-at-1-29-12-PM.png

I double clicked this and It created a folder. I opened this folder and these are the contents of that folder:
"cert.pem
cert.pem.sig
fw.tar.gz
fw.tar.gz.sig
runme.sh
runme.sh.sig
version_number  (note, not extension on this file, so creates an excutable file on the SD card)

Here are the files on my Hard Drive
https://i.ibb.co/QCVHJGv/Screen-Shot-2021-04-20-at-1-29-41-PM.png

These are the same files when transfered to my SD card:
https://i.ibb.co/Lzdh55m/Screen-Shot-2021-04-20-at-1-48-18-PM.png

I just tried to flash this on to the machine but it does not seem to be working. I turned power off to machine, installed the microSD card with these files on it, powered the machine back on, the Red (fault) and Green (normal) lights are on solid, It's been running for 20 minutes not and no blinking lights. I just took it out and no change. Still NiceHash OS.

When I click on "fw.tar.gz" a file appears and these are the contents of that file. These are the ones that I posted earlier with 2 files that don't have extensions so show up at excutable. I also tried to flash this and it created a hybrid OS at first but then ultimately when i opened a new browser it was still NiceHash.
"BOOT.bin
devicetree.dtb
md5_info
runme.sh
uImage
uramdisk.image.gz
version"

Your suggestions?

These are the bitmain files I used:

(I hope that worked this time)

The reason why I asked you to show me the files you used is that I thought you could be using the wrong files, which seems like it, here is the correct list of files that has to be on the main directory of the Sdcard.

Download it from here > https://file12.bitmain.com/shop-product/firmware/adfcd6b0-88a0-4cbc-ac17-1bace3991b03/2020/09/27/10/SD_S17%2B.rar

The process is simple.

1- Format the Sdcard using FAT32
2- Unzip the file I put the link to and copy-paste the files inside it to the Sdcard

Thanks for the clarity. So while I was waiting for your reply I found the instructions on how to revert the machine to the original firmware version. There is a IP Report button on the machine that does this. It seems to have worked. The Miner Status looks exactly like the what the seller sent me before sending me the unit. There is a newer firmware that I can upgrade to if you suggest that.

It did not fix the issues with my two other boards though  Cry

Here is the Kernel Log.

Ok so the summary is

Chain 0 finds 65 asic but has a problem with the temp sensor
chain 1 finds 0 asic
chain 2 works just fine

Can you make sure that all the PSU screws going into the hash boards are tightened? also, check the ribbon cables from the control board to the 3 hash boards, swap the ribbon cable from chain 2 to the other two hash boards to confirm the problem isn't the cable.

You also seem to have a network related problem
Code:
2021-04-22 19:19:01 driver-btm-api.c:222:set_miner_status: WARN_NET_LOST

Try using a different network cable to troubleshoot this matter.

I was able to try your suggestions. No gross changes to the situation. I did change the ethernet cord and that fixed the network stability, thank you! I made sure the screws were tight to the hash boards...they were. I switched the ribbon for Chain 2 (working board) to Chain 1. Chain 0 continues to initially register chips and then temp sensors become an issue. (I did not switch the ribbon because that ribbon is much longer than the other two. I can swap the board locations though to test the ribbon if you think that would be helpful.)

I reset it twice with this configuration and these are the Kernel Logs for each.

Thank you for your continued support in this!

Well that's an improvement, you went from a complete dead miner to 1/3 of the total hashrate

Chain 2 is likely dead and it is not much you can do about it, chain 0 shows all 65 Asics but has a temp-sensor error, the temp-sensor error is mostly not due to a temp-sensor but rather a bad chip or a bad PSU, the same thing could apply for chain 2 since now chain 1 is hashing well, we know the PSU is good for at least 1 hash board, what you should do is unplug chain 0 and 1 and run chain 2 only, then unplug chain 1 and 2 and run chain 0 only, this will ensure that the issue isn't PSU related.
