Yes, he used to be a coach, a talented strategist. But not now. All that he brought to the team was only severe failures. It's true when you say that he is living only on his past reputation, football is a top-notch strategy game alongside excellent players, but Mourinho's strategy is long ago outdated, he has no way to innovate. Looking at what the team shows, nothing new, nothing special. Remember how long it has been since he was no longer on the top of the grandeur of the C1 arena? that was 10 years ago. Jose Mourinho has always orchestrated his own downfall wherever he goes, he's been underperforming for years now but he never faces his own squad, but rather what other managers are doing right or wrong or the whole system is against him. He'd never own up to his own flaws, perhaps he's not so special after all.

It's normal , people loose their touch after a time , I do believe that he would still her jobs in small teams or might coach on a private basis. This would mean he can continue earning and can even stay away from the limelight. We have seen a lot of examples over the years , that's just how it goes.

But shouldn't they have made this decision earlier ? Literally not even a week before finals and they decided to sack him. They did already know how it's gonna go then should have Invested more in the first place.

The guy is getting a compensation package worth 20 millions , what else could be done ? It's all good for him right now.

I think they did it because of the pressure from joining the super league and they thought the team needed something better.

Morinho's glorious era seems to have ended now and in fact we can see when Morinho has handled a club as big as Manchester United which has only been able to win 3 trophies, namely the Community Shield Cup, the English League Cup and also the Europa League Cup so far. His coaching at Manchester United, if we look at these three trophies, is certainly not worth the large amount of money spent by Manchester United to buy some of the world's big players like Paul Pogba and Eric Balily at that time. Ryan Mason will take over as a replacement while management believes it is too young for him to be a coach but in the meantime can see how the Spurs are in his hands.

This was to be expected, he does not try to become one with the players, he puts himself above them, so he constantly has conflicts with the players. Your description seems overly harsh on him, especially when coaches are micro analyzed game after game the pressure on them must be relentless and he is probably glad of a break now. The timing is super suspicious and there are some rumors that he refused to lead his players out to training this morning, in a defiant act against the European Super League announcement. It's amazing how a week or two of bad results can shift sentiment - only back in February, Tottenham managed to rack up four wins where they scored 4 times each match, lots of people have a short memory when following football. It feels like a job where the results will never be good enough for some. Good luck to him though and may he be able to have a very comfortable retirement if he wants it.

They can't blame everything on coach but winning only one match in last six from all competition is not good and this may shake them if they still want to have some chance for Euro competition next year

Mourinho is not the same manager he was in his earlier days, he never adapted to managing the modern player but I do think if he was allowed to bring in a few players of his own choice then Spurs might be in a much stronger league position so I have to blame their chairman Daniel Levy too.

The problem with Mourinho is that when his teams are not performing as they should he turns against his players and they stop playing for him. I think Dele Alli and Harry Winks will be relieved as they might be able to get back in to the first team after falling out with Mourinho.

I agree with you, he is the one to blame for getting sacked because he turns against the players and puts himself in a bad light. The players go on to the pitch and play according to the style the manager wants but the teams Mourinho has managed have not performed consistently well and have underachieved too.

I saw this coming, I don't think the problem is Mourinho, any coach would struggle to do well with the spurs. Even Pochettino struggled before he left. The team needs new players, they've gotten their transfers wrong.
They should have let him play the Carabao cup final at least, he boasted he had delivered at least a trophy in d teams he managed, they should have given him till the end of the season; but is only them that knows the exert cause of the immediate sack.

^ Well probably, this person really have the skills to win honestly. It is just that his goal and agenda is way too different than just winning games. He is now a businessman and not a coach (a corrupted one). I heard that this guy plays dirty in a way that he manipulates the game and influences his players to do so. They used his previous reputation to earn underground. He used it to be considered as one of the candidates and took the chance to earn from losing. He was actually good before this time. He has his golden times before, but I guess as usual everybody’s time fades time by time. So you really have to enjoy it while it lasts.

I agree, there is no doubt about several aspects of his past that can be argued about because his fantastic achievements speak for themselves but his last winner as a league manager was in 2015 and his last major trophy was a Europa League win in 2017 and with new managers coming along with new ideas he really is not the special one:

I think what he did at Porto in the 18 months here was there was nothing short of brilliant. Chelsea were right to sign him but the Chelsea team that won the Premier League in 2004/5 was created by Ranieri who already guided them to 2nd place the season before. Winning back to back Premier League titles was also a big thing to add on his CV too. The Italian domestic double and Champions League win in 2009/10 was a brilliant achievement too and must be a highlight of his career.

He lost has appeal and his approach to players a long time ago and has been riding high on the back of previous successes and that does not suit him. He really needed to be successful at Spurs to get that self-belief back but it did not work out. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has a habit of doing these types of things. He did it unexpectedly with Harry Redknapp and with Mauricio Pochettino too and even with his first manager Glenn Hoddle after buying the club in 2001.

That is true,,, this guy does not like to be not the master of his own destiny so he does what he can to leave on his own terms when he knows the exit is pointed to him. Ferguson did it. Zidane did it. Pep did it. But while one retired because he knew that era was over and Zidane and Pep evolved, people like Mou still stuck to his old ways and discovered often it doesn't work anymore.

Still a shame to sack him before the final. That's like giving City a free pass, but hopefully Kane and Son and Moura all give it their best shot. Lost my quadruple already so don't want to see City lift anymore cups:)

He won’t get another elite club level job now. He’s been sacked from his last 3 club jobs. I think sometimes a manager goes past his peak & his methods don’t work any more. That’s happened with Mourinho now.
