Ranking up is good but it takes dedication.

So this is how the ranking up works. The next rank I am qualified with merits will be member rank. Not bad for some weeks staying in the forum. I have to wait to get the needed activity rank up.

However, the next rank will be difficult to achieve as rank goes higher. Full member in rank would be possible if I can get to make some good posts. Well, it would be hard especially in my case that I do not know where to start to get some merits.

I am not asking for merits here but just want to figure out how to get some of it in the future.

Would anyone like to share how they earn their merits so that I can follow?

In the first place, if you know enough about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies(and maybe overlapping topics like privacy, security, and economics), you don't even need to try hard to be able to earn merits. You just post casually and the merits will naturally follow because of your knowledge.

There's no hard and fast rules on earning Merits. Just like what mk4 mentioned above, be helpful and contribute meaningful articles/ posts. If people like them, they'd give out Merits.

Those that offer something unique (like BHC's live tracking stats) would see faster results, provided you have something of the sort.

You are an old member of this forum, I read that you lost your first account and decided to start over. This means that you need to have an idea of what posts people get merits for. Moreover, I see that you are not participating in any awards, why do you need merits?
Don't worry about merits, move your discussions to a more rewarding stream. Read about Bitcoin, study news, history, technology, share your knowledge. In communication, you need to be sincere, there should be interested in questions and answers. Posts that have an initial purpose of earning merits always look very fake and tortured. Keep it simple, share your thoughts and ideas, and your recognition will surely come to you.

With full regards. I think most posts with constructive and informative trends get neglected on the forum. Most of such users stay longer than necessary before getting enough merits so the can rank up to higher postions even when their activities is enough to meet up with such?

I think previewing of accounts should be done on most accounts to help boost their profile because I find educative posts on a day to day base without enough merit to encourage them on their research.

Meriting is not a constant factor in time. Some posts, although informative, could be reaching the nth time its topic has been written or rehashed, and informative as it may be, recurrence of a given topic may not call one’s attention that much. Posts in a thread that state similar reasoning or content as the prior posts within the thread fall under the same shade.

One should not expect every informative post he writes to be merited. Even one in ten wouldn’t be a bad ratio, and if a given poster does consistently write decent content, he’s barely going to go amiss really (unless he posts in a section that is barely merited per se, which could denote a lack of a Merit Source visiting the given section).

Everyone has to find his own style of writing, sharing content, and engaging the community in meaningful discussions. There isn't an exact rulebook that you need to follow to meet the requirements to get merited. Some people get a lot of merits for statistical data they gather and share with the community. But if everyone started doing it, the forum would be crushed by stats, it wouldn't be interesting to read, and less merits would be given to such threads and users.

Others get merited for being spam hunters, scam hunters, and reporters. But again not everyone should do that. You need to find your own fields of interest and do what comes naturally to you. Going through this thread, you can see that users like mk4, lovesmayfamilis, and DdmrDdmr are all of legendary rank and have received bags of merits. Check out their stats and their topics to get an idea of what is required to rank up.

You have enough to rank to a Member so I don't see why you should go that quick. You already have earned 18, that's more than many users in the forum which couldn't achieve this for years.
If you go with that tempo you will reach full member right on time when fulfilling the activity requirement for that rank. Pushing for merit will most like make your post quality fall and won't really get you there where you want to go.

If you know you're helping/contributing to other users in here, merits will come along BUT that doesn't mean that you should expect one every time you do contribute.

Yep, that's exactly how it's supposed to be--and thank you for making a bloated post like this explaining how the merit system works.  You didn't mention why it's hard to rank up, though.  That reason is to disincentivize shitposters, account farmers, and various other idiots from climbing the ranks simply by dumping nonsense posts on the forum.

You already know how to earn merits, because it isn't rocket science.  You just have to make posts that are well thought out and have obviously had some effort put into them--or make ones that are short but very helpful. 

I'd also add that you needn't have started a thread like this, because I'm sure you've seen ones just like this in Meta before, asking the very same question and getting the same answers.

All it needed is Jr. rank. to remove the post limit completely which is equivalent to legendary rank, then you can make as many constructive posts as you can with pictures. If you are dedicated to merit, then you will eventually stop contributing to forum because your posts begin to be unmerited.
Forget about merits, do what you can, share what you know. Merit and ranking up are just bonuses, not something to be chased after.

I have a bulletproof plan that anyone can follow - just make posts that contribute something and make sure you have at least some inkling as to the topic you're posting about (although you might earn merits for random stupid shit like flat earth, that's rather an exception).

Your turn now - why do you need a higher rank? As noorman0 mentioned, once you get to post pictures, there isn't really much of a limit in what you can contribute to the forum.

I think that you should try your best to give insightful contributions in each thread/post that you create during your journey here OP. Like most members already said here, you should not focus in "brewing" the best way to create merits because that will blind-sight you to the real reason that you should thrive for - be helpful for the community and the community will surely reward you if it deems that you deserve it.
I do reckon, however, that the limit that you have regarding posting while you're a low rank may discourage you from posting but see it more like as a way for you to study the forum and see what kind of answers are merited and which kind of answers are not - I'm sure you'll notice a pattern one way or another.

As a side note you can check my signature to find some threads where the creators of said threads reward users whose impact on the forum has been neglected - something that may happen if you only focus on very specific parts of the forum - and if they see that your contributions have been positive for the community they'll surely reward you with merit.

If you keep this "bullet points" that the members here already gave you I'm sure you'll grow your merit counter in a very natural and sustainable way.

You already are up 18 merits so you kust be doing something right. Ranking up can be difficult. Don't think too hard about it.  Hustling for merits can be tedious and may distract you from the actual benefits of the forum like learning.
 Just do your best to make quality post. You can study the previous posts of senior members and observe how they  post and how their mind works. That would act as a guide for you on how to construct good quality posts.

In addition to this OP, I see that you write how you do not like spam, and complain about meaningless messages from bounty hunters.

Am I the only one observing bounty hunters replies and posts? Most of it are compliance and just posting to meet the required post to get rewards. In short, the post will be more likely a spam.

What's stopping you from creating good posts? If you think your posts are under-rated, try showing them to a merit source. I know The Pharmacist suggested this, but so that asking to view posts doesn't look like begging.

The same with you I'm struggling on the merit system in my early months on the forum but after observing a lot of threads like the most merited topics and how does the merit earner get to their shared content I have an idea too how can I get. It doesn't matter if you give a one-liner thread but the answer is there we are here to share ideas, it's useless to give a statement and there's no essence this is not informative it's just a thread that want to fulfil their post requirement.

Many people are buying and selling merits. This is not allowed and one of the reasons of prospering such activities is that many btc paid campaigns accept users with high merits.
I think bounty managers must reconsider this eligibility criteria as it only encourage merit trade.
