Bitstamp blocked me from withdrawing crypto from my account on Sunday last.

I immediately called them and I talked with two different employees and I was told me that my request will be forwarded to the security department and given high priority. I called again on Monday and I got no further on. I called again today and got no further.

Can anybody please advise me how I might get this solved? I just want to get my money back and steer clear of Bitstamp.

Thanks in anticipation of your help.
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

1. You can create all kinds of noise on social media but do you have enough influence to force them to release your money?
2. Another option is the legal way but do you have the resources to file and pursue a case?
3. Wait and hope since you are still at the mercy of the centralized exchange. You know, not your keys not your funds.

The only think you can do at this stage is to wait for support to tell you the reason why they blocked your account (KYC related, etc.), insisting with them if they do not answer in a day or two. You need to know the subjacent cause of the problem, and the options they give you to resolve it. Unfortunately, they may take longer than desired to get back to you.

Trying to pursue it through their social media channels is an additional possibility, but I’ve seen that you’ve already posted your case on their Reddit.

Before you OP many are faced this problem with bitsmap exchange. Here is some info of the previous scams by butsmap :  Bitstamp exchange of currencies: stealing money of the deposit by employees

You can check there how people tried to resolve there issue. It may give you some ideas about what you need to do.

I used Bitstamp a few times some years ago and never had problems.

Can you give us more details about your situation?

 - Did you give them your documents to verify your account (KYC)??
 - Did you send money from casinos directly to bitstamp? Some exchanges have problems with that.
 - Do they give any reason to block your account?

I believe they will ask you for some documents, maybe some proof of wages and personal documents, and then they will release your funds. That is what usually happens in exchanges..

I totally doubt that Bitstamp is going to scam people out of their bitcoin. I'm guessing this is probably just a covid thing(or just too much cases being handled due to the huge influx of new cryptocurrency buyers), or they're still inspecting your case. Best you can do is to probably be patient and wait a bit since it seems like you've just been waiting for more or less 24 hours.

If you abide by all the rules in the terms of use, then you are on the safe side, you will restore your coins. It is a matter of time and its value may increase over that time.
The problem is that if you violate the rules of use or use the platform from a banned country or refuse to verify identity then you may not be able to recover your coins.

Continue to communicate with the support team at the rate of one message every few days, and do not try to send many messages so that the system not flagged you as a spam.

Francie17, are you located in the EU? If you are then it is possible that your withdraw has been blocked due to the following : Bitstamp To Track Off-Exchange Addresses Via KYC, and in this thread there is a discussion of that stupidity of theirs which at that time was in force only in the Netherlands.

As for Bitstamp, some users say they have always had a fairly strict KYC - and that has gotten even worse since the company was sold. I read some really stressful experiences, here is one from our forum :

Is Bitstamp still a good exchange for trading?

Thanks for your comment

I went through a verification process when I registered with them, including sending them a copy of my driving licence and or passport. When  called them they ask various questions.

I sent money from my personal bank account.

They told me it was for security reasons.

I guess now I just have to wait.
