Does the BTC-T37 require a 24 pin ATX plugged in?

Many of the BTC-37 boards dont have an ATX 24 pin connector, instead using the 12 power from the slot power sockets to power the board.  Which is ideal if you have a server power supply.  The question I have is does the T version's existent ATX connector require something plugged in?  Or is it just there so you can easily choose either type of power supply?

Reason being I am considering trying one of these boards in conjunction with a server power supply.  I'm hoping having something plugged in to the ATX connector is optional.  But no amount of googling has found me an answer.

Anyone know?

I probably did not understand did not understand your question correctly. If you want to use 2 power supplies, then use this adapter to synchronize the startup and shutdown of two power supplies.

I was making a speaker amplifier that was connected to an ATX power supply. The amplifier only required 12 volts. The 24 pin connector was used only to turn on the power supply by shorting several wires.

Yeah, no.. nothing to do with 2 power supplies.  I just want to power the board with a server power supply that only supplies 12 volts.  BTC-D37 and BTC-S37 are almost identical to this one but they dont have the ATX 24 pin.  Instead the motherboard runs off 12 volts only.  I suspect the ATX connector isn't necessary to be used on this board but I don't know for sure yet.

Yeah that's the D version.  The T version I'm talking about is pretty much identical with the exception being it has an ATX connector.  My question is if it is necessary to use the ATX? I assume not, but I don't like to assume where possible.
