Hi miners in the house how come RX6700 is giving me 46 megabytes per second why are RX5700 is giving me 57mega hash part second? I expected RX6700 to perform better than RX5700 since it's the newer card?

Actually Rx 5700 Xt is one of  the best cards for mining considering the hashrate and power consumption. It can be undervolted to 115 watt consumption and 55 Mhs in mining.I have 1 one of them and 2 Rx 6800 xt and I am very happy with all of them. The fact that there is supply for 6700 and not for the other ones means a lot to me and shows that 6700 is not that good for mining.

Sad but true, RX5700XT just performs better, newer doesn't mean better performance for all algorithm, I'm sure RX6700 have it's best side of performance for some algorithms as well

Thanks for post.

@ TheMimic1

Learn more about mining and understand what specifi algos need and how to tune your cards. The RX6700 can give you over 60mh

Zotak337 is right, newer cards doesn´t always perform better!

Well anything is possible, actually I've never seen a rx6700 doing 60MH, the highest I have seen is 44+ but if I'm wrong please kindly drop the exact settings of your RX6700 so others can benefits, I guess that's why we are all here, to learn from one another

The RX5700 did not mine well in the beginning. I remember that after its appearance, the hash rate was less than 5 megahash Smiley
After a while, good drivers and BIOS firmware appeared.
For the RX6700, the same situation may happen again. Traditionally AMD mining products rarely work well out of the box.

I managed to pick up 16 RX5700 XT's back in November/December before prices went all crazy.  I managed to pick up all of them for between $300 and $400.  Definitely took some tweaking to get them close to 57MH/s and low power (BIOS mod/memory strap).  They are not quite as efficient as my 3000 series, but way better than my 1000 series that have all been sold at this point.

The AMD 6000 series I don't think will ever be really good for ETH given the Infinity Cache memory design...

Same here, RX5700XT is just better but the NVIDIA RTX all did great job when it comes to power efficiency, they draw less watt if you can tweak them but yea as we know AMD is always more power hungry, I expected RX6700 to get 65MH before launch but after seeing the result I gave up

I have 10 regular 5700's that I pulled from Dell systems.  After selling off the systems, have about $700/each in them, which I can live with.  They are just generic reference cards.  I can only seem to get 54MH out of them stable but only using 100 watts, so pretty pleased with them myself.  I didn't do a BIOS mod though, just the memory straps.

i would argue the 5700 needs to be compared to the 6800

and the 5600 needs to be compared to the  6700

or maybe

6900 to 5700
6800 to 5600
6700 to 5500

but do not compare the 5700 to the 6700

I own

5500
5600
5700

6700
6800

have not sourced a 6900

so far i like

5600 a lot.

i can get some to do 39mh at 76 watts

pretty good numbers.

although nothing compares to  well to bitmain’s E9. 3200mh at 2800 watts.

The most power efficiency out of all your cards should be rx5500, correct me if you think I'm wrong, if 5600 can do 39mh at 76watts I'm wondering what the power consumption of rx5500 will be, can you please share that detail with us @philipma1957

I get such a hash rate and 80 watts of electricity consumption. Such results are obtained with video cards with Samsung memory. For example, the SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 5600 XT 6G GDDR6 video card. With Gigabytes or Asus on another memory, I did not manage to get such results, but these video cards have a higher hashrate out of the box.

 yeah.

I have like 10-15 5600 cards only one does those really good numbers.

I will review all cards today as I am going to the mine for the whole day.

I will post watts to hash.

It looks like that this is data from HiveOS or RaveOS, it isn`t correct. You need to use a wattmeter to get true values with AMD GPUs.

My 5500xt are about 28mh at 75-80watts, only RaveOS configured. My 5600xt are flashed and about 43mh at 100-110watts. Before flashing 5600xt gave me about 39-40mh with the same power consumption.

Damn I wish I can get six of those, this is the real definition of power efficiency, two rx5500 will draw 106 to 110 watt @54 MH, damn that's cool and I heard those cards works so cool at good temp

I never flash bios.
Damn I wish I can get six of those, this is the real definition of power efficiency, two rx5500 will draw 106 to 110 watt @54 MH, damn that's cool and I heard those cards works so cool at good temp

I pushed getting cards from april 2020 and got all my amd cards in 2020.

so they were cheap.

It is very tempting to sell them all in one shot.

I sold one 5500xt for 400 and have held all the others.
