Some projects will allow you to swap their tokens so you can contact them to know possible solutions. And this is a real problem if you wants to invest on shit coins in long term, you have to keep in touch with the project all the time if you don't want to lose your assets.

You can only hold coins like BTC and ETH without looking back, this is your fault but good that you've learned from it, any coins or tokens that aren't oldy and on top of 10th position I would always watch then very close and In fact plan to hold them for short term only

If you hold a token, you must know how they progress. If the token is going to swap, of course the investor will be given time to swap. Some projects have deadlines and some don't, that's the reason why you should monitor the progress of the project.

To say the truth this have happened to me as well, very long time ago when I was still new to crypto and blockchain tech, this is a normal thing to happen to most newbies and later as time goes by they will learn, it's just like trying to figure out which project is the best to invest money on and which project is a scam, crypto lessons can't be learning in a day

I think that's the developer's fault. The holders deserve the swap service that will be last forever. It's not fair for the old holders that didn't get any information regarding the swap will get useless token.
MZG was a garbage coin but it's not for pundi.
There are some services that gave the old holders ability to swap its token forever.
The team who has been giving deadline to do the swap just like cheating its old holders.

Happened to me as well back in the past. What I hate most about it is often the very short notice and deadline where they start excluding holders from the swapping process for essentially no reason or even in an illegal way. I mean, if you didn't check your coins for 3 yeas, that might be a bit different. But if they only give you 2 weeks or a month that is an outright scam to me. You could be in hospital or for whatever reason not be able or willing to check your holdings.

i think it's half of your fault too because you don't read any new update regarding the token/coins that you are holding

You definitely aren't at wrong if you're an investor and the developer didn't send you a warning or notice before hand, even that they should allow anyone who holds their coin to swap it at anytime without setting the due time, if they don't it's the same as scam or thief then.
The developer themselves should know that their projects aren't really the center attention of their investors and each investor have their own life, as an investor we can't really always watching the news regarding the project 24/7 that's just ridiculous and really these kind of token swapping deadline is bullshit and should be considered as scam. I've experienced once and I'd easily consider it as the most excruciating experience ever in crypto.

I don't know about the OP's case, but the project party should have provided information or at least explained to their holders that they are going to do a token swap, right? it looks really weird if they suddenly do a token swap without giving any information to anyone, btw, communicating to the project concerned and monitoring the altcoins you invest in are fundamentally important in investing

Well, I am really skeptical about this.  Do you invest or does it come from bounty, airdrop?  First of all, I am glad you have kept it as an investor.  But you do not treat it as a spiritual gift or an asset.  Why don't you pay attention to their movements? 

The project is not just a roadmap.  It may need voting power from the team if they feel the direction on another platform / brand is their development.  Similarly, some have parallel renovations between ETH and BSC.

Even if you have chosen to be a long term holder for those altcoins, you still need to update yourself whether there's a migration to its mainnet or there's a swap that's about to happen.
It is our responsibility to keep ourselves updated on those things because it is our investment. There's no one  that will update us but we should be the one to take the first action in knowing what's happening with our tokens.

This also happend for me. I has hold my token like Daneel and HDAC and now they has worthless. My Daneel hold on Idex and now Idex has changing there services and I lose my token. I also trade some token in some market, and now that token was unlisted on the market. This will be a note to me and I will never hold for new crypto, just stay on large crypto coin for invest.

The price of the Pundi coin was quite well last month due to the swap proposal I also sold my Pundi coins before the swap taking place and I got good profit even I also lost some bounty coins where I was not active and did not take the action at the right time and later they did not entertain my request. We have to always check social media accounts at least once a week to know the developments or updates about the coins you hold even Pundi admin was quite active on social media. I think you did not swap the token for a new one that's why you lose your profit. So always keep in mind always check the progress or updates of the coins you hold so you won't face this problem again.

If you have a lot of altcoins, you can pay more attention to his community or Telegram Twitter and other related latest information.

Well at least that is a lesson learned from you. Swapping your potential coins into new coins isnt a good idea afterall. You are unsure that those newly created coins will have a value. Jjst like what happened to you, you exchange it and regret it afterwards because it was all shitcoins at the end.

Always have a good background check to those coins before swapping it next time. Or for your own sake, just  choose those altcoins that have already proven their ability and are well established that worth to hold in a longest time.

Why your holding become useless? Where are you holding these tokens?

Recently Jibrel network was swapped for Slice (I guess I spell correctly). But, they sent Slice tokens to all Jibrel holders. So, nothing effected me negatively due to their swap.

In the past I have encountered similar swap for Peculium into different contract address. They also sent new tokens for my addy.

If you are holding those tokens in your desktop or mobile addy then check for new tokens. Or you may refer for procedures to obtain new tokens.

This is sad, there's nothing you can do about it? what about asking them in their telegram group? I think there should be a way to retrieve those tokens again. If not, then this is the first time I heard of it. When you don't check the progress of the coins you are holding then this most likely happen. You cannot leave it like what you are doing in the past years. Yeah! you're right this is a lesson for you and for us too. thanks for informing us that this kind of thing exists in the crypto industry.

I must agree with many previous comments here. If you hold tokens from the second league, you must constantly follow their announcements and changes.
I had some NPXS tokens in my wallet and if I remember correctly this is his 3rd swap int he history. It seems to me that the only progress they make is through the swap. A lot of tokens will be lost through a swap, and thus reduce the circulation volume of the token.
Swap is nothing more here, just a way to keep supporters active and they seem to form a closed group of holders. It’s certainly not attractive to have in your portfolio.
