Most multi crypto wallets today have usdt wallet available both erc20 and trc20 version and I've only tried the TRC20 USDT on trust wallet since this is the best crypto wallet for me and it works perfectly fine, you don't need to download separate wallet just for USDT TRC20 only

Are you looking to store it for the long term, or are you liking for a temporary wallet to move your funds here and there? If the latter is the case, you can easily use wallet like Safepal, Trust wallet, etc. They're closed source, but good enough for quick funds management. Other than that, hardware wallet is probably the way to go.

the answer is yes . trc20 usd transfer fee is only 1usdt thats why for me trc20 usdt is the best unlike the others erc20 usdt so very high fee transaction, while the trc20 usdt has only 1usdt price per transaction ,.

Metamask is more than capable but many people don't just know it, you can run any mainnet or network on metamask not just binance smart chain only, even the new Sovryn project that's running on RSK mainnet is working on metamask, lately I'm in love with the wallet honestly

There are various wallets that support USDT, I personally use Ledger Nano S to hold my usdt.
You can use different online wallets, but in my opinion hardware wallet is the safest way to hold your token. If you plan on long-term holding, I would say use a hardware wallet, it is less risky and easier to use as it is portable.
