One of the hashboards on my s9 keeps starting then turning off because it discovers 62 chips instead of 63.

It's running braiins os+

is there any way to fix it without repairing the board?

Is this the complete kernel logs?

If you are running Braiins OS I think even it reads 62 ASIC it should still run and ignore the one ASIC.

How about the temp?

Try to disable the sensor temp on brains OS using this ""no-sensor-scan" : true " I think you will need to put this in cgminer.conf

The temp seems fine until it restarts

How did you know that the temp is fine?

I couldn't see any temp from your kernel logs.

Can you try this post first below someone there has the same issue when showing a wrong chip data and then shutdown adding some command like no sensor scan might help try the suggestion from the post below

Or try other custom firmware

Here check this one
- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4513567.0

Or this one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5127323.0
And then try to lower the freq and lower the ASIC voltage board.

I believe this is a very risky move, if the board gets too hot it will melt and your place will catch fire, all that for what? I don't know what that function on BO+ exactly does, but if it really simply disable temp sensors then that's a recipe for disaster, it may be used for testing purposes to identify whether you have a faulty sensor or the board is actually getting too hot, but to run a miner unattended with no temp sensors, well, good luck.

The board is actually still restarting even with the temperature sensors disabled. I'm not sure what to do at this point

Try using a lower power limit value, like 1280 in Miner > Configuration > Autotuning.
