great idea and it's a good promotion for his book. It's a 12 seed words which is too difficult to really find. all the words are there in the book. with that, he wouldn't have to prove that there really is a bitcoin seed hidden there. and if someone finds the key already, people will also stop buying? with this idea i think a lot of writers will follow this kind of promotion.

This would be a very difficult task except their are observable hint to decode the seed phase from, I think it's ba good idea if the writer uses it more for the use of instilling reading habits in the life's of people than making their book sorted for because of the opportunity of the bitcoin gain in them.
It would be interesting to read the book and I don't know if the story line is based on crypto-currency I think it would promote crypto-currency more.

Loved the idea! This is something unique and properly tailored idea. The book will revive the response if it gets published in proper way. There need a chain reaction to be started for this purpose, where mouth to mouth publicity is more than enough. :-) For example, people who are actually reading this book should create videos of their experience, share the reviews on other social platforms.
More the competition to crack the code and hunt for that reward, more will be popularity of this book.

It seems like a good idea. The only thing is that I suppose it will have a certain degree of difficulty and whoever gets it right is not going to do it the first time. Otherwise, he would lose incentive to sell the book. The word combinations will have to be tested. We'll see what the future tells us about the sales success of his book and when the combination is discovered, if anyone does.
What would be better for Bitcoin (and book) publicity, would be that it takes a while to discover but someone does.

I doubt at all that this can be possible. How many options and word orders you need to go through to get the phrase right. I think that the professor himself is not such a naive person as to expose his $15000 to a simple solution to a problem. As we can see, there is already a channel on YouTube where you can chat with treasure seekers. It's fun and exciting. The main thing is that the plot of the book itself is interesting. After all, if it turned out that it was impossible to guess the riddle, there would be no regret for the time spent reading. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOJHjXeJw9g

It’s quite a nice (necessary) publicity stunt, that reminds me of those books that, back in the day, allegedly led to a buried treasure, driving people on a treasure hunt across England. The book is Independently Published, which means that there is no big editorial behind, but rather one writes the book and publishes it on the platform for an initial set-up + fees per paperback (or digital copy), which is printed on demand per order. That normally leaves the writer with a large task to promote his book in third-party sites, and all of this is intended just at that. It’s not that easy to make break-even with a 17K$ price, so it’s bound to be pretty tough to break. The associated price BTC address is currently funded with 0,2988 BTCs (17K USD): https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/bc1qsrsrlkckce907dqt3sfpefv2llxqlrc7f8xwnt(I got it from his video, after typing it wrongly from the book's preview, confusing and 's' and a '5' on the address).

I will not buy or read a book because someone has placed a prize between the lines of that book, even if the prize is to read the whole book and not decipher it. It will be good for someone who loves to read that writer’s books, but it will not push new people to read the book. It may be a helpful factor, but it should not be basic or more important than the content.
I don't see it as a revolutionary idea, it's a new modernization of a traditional method.

what the professor did was extraordinary, inviting us to become bookworms and that way people will be interested because there are prizes, there are 2 important points that can be taken first reading adds insight as well as getting a prize .. secondly, even though they don't get a prize in the form of Bitcoin, that person still gets new knowledge from the results of their reading. the application of reading literacy at times like this is indeed important. considering that the reading literacy rate has decreased over time is revived with various innovations so that someone will want to read.

happy to hear interesting ideas from a professor. unwittingly new methods have been added so that everyone does not forget the culture of reading. and I think this method can be applied to our children for the creation of a generation of readers of knowledge. and what the processor expects is not who gets Bitcoin from their findings in the books. But the goal is to have the intention to return to respect the work of the author, the knowledge contained in the book. so that it can be used by others. that's what I think about the brilliant idea above.

It is a good idea to increase the demand for your book, while at the same time instilling a love for careful reading of books.
I agree but it's also another way of shifting the focus of readers from being loyal to reading for the sake of the reward in question. and if someone finds the key already, people will also stop buying? Perhaps there will be fewer buyers but that book isn't just about its reward; It has a story of its own. I don't know if the story line is based on crypto-currency I think it would promote crypto-currency more.
Based on its description, it comes with cryptocurrency-related parts.

I have not read the novel but it is to be expected that there is a way for the reader to decode the 12 words needed to access the wallet and claim those coins as yours, it would be interesting if the one that at the end is the first one to crack the code decides to share their identity so we can know how they did it and see how happy they are of being able to accumulate so many profits by just reading a book, however this is great promotion for bitcoin as many will buy and read the book to try to find this lost treasure.

Interesting story for this college professor F is that he was a former Marine Corps and CIA agent that later turned over to the good side after learning about Bitcoin. He is now giving away almost 0.3 Bitcoins for people who find 12 words seed clues in his book, and that is one of the reasons is I love about Bitcoin community so much. Overall this is a great idea for advertising and promoting Bitcoin, $14.99 for his paperback book is not much at all and it would be a good idea for him to create digital version alternative.

This is a genus strategy by this professor. Yeah, it does increase the demand and could boost the reading culture in most individuals. Reading not just for the idea of it but also for the reward. Its a good move and thus, it would go a long way to promote bitcoin as well. This technique kind of reminds me of a saying our elder onces and guidance used to say to us back in the day when I was still a teenager just to promote the reading culture in youths. Its goes, "If you want to hide money or a coded information from a blackman, hide it in a book or put it in writing" It simply portrayed a blackman as one without the zeal to read and as such, the book is the most likely place not to suspect any form of evil or something fishy to be weary about. Funny right? but, serious. So, this technique can help in archiving a lot as per its aim.

I agree but it's also another way of shifting the focus of readers from being loyal to reading for the sake of the reward in question. This is also on my mind, the interest of readers may shift to the reward or finding the private keys. Especially for those people who are really not into reading, and will try to read the book for the sake of rewards, it is extremely difficult. Additional, this is useful for people who are into the books or topics inside the pic, it will help them to dive deep into it.

1) Looks interesting. But, there have been other treasure hunt books before. The trick is to sell enough copies of the book to cover the cost of the prize. Kind of like raffle tickets. 2) Or the answer is not in the book and it's just there to sell more copies to make more $$ 3) You should shorten the Amazon link you posted. It has a referral in it, which is considered bad form here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08ZW4RHKQ/ is all you need -Dave

Makes crypto a very wonderful tool to market any kind of product. Certainly, this isn't the first in crypto, there was a painting that has also been posted here before which Vatalik was in the painting and I believe 100 ETH to be discovered on that painting. The painting wasn't for sale though but it made users interested to find the 100ETH.

We will have to see what happens with this lost treasure, if at some point in the future this amount of bitcoin is still lost and the writer of this book dies it is fair to wonder if people are going to dedicate a lot of time to find the answer to this mystery as by that time the value of bitcoin will be incredibly high, however I doubt it will last that long, people are very smart especially in this market and a challenge like that is not bound to last long at all.
