I know this has probably been asked many times before but i sadly have not been able to find anything on this.

I have a CCminer setup with my GTX 1080. Its not the most efficient by any means but i am just trying to learn how to set this up.
I am seeing 575 kh/s and thats just garbage it seems. my task manager says nothing is using my GPU at all so im confused as to if its mining that little of an amount because im not allocating enough to it? or is that just the speed this card would run at?

Really appreciate any help! thank you!

My old phone used to output 700kh/s with scrypt so I don't think it's using the graphics card.

You might want to paste the command you used to run the miner for better support. And if you have an output of Joe the device is mapped from the console.

Why are you even doing this? No matter how much hashrate your CPU or whatever gives you it's never going to be enough to mine some dogecoin, you are better off buying ASIC miners that can mine scrypt algorithm

see this isnt what im looking for by any means. its not helpful what so ever. i stated above that im doing this trying to learn how it works to better know what to invest in for the future. so back to the task at hand.

Why is my card only putting out like 650 kH/s? seems quite low unless im misunderstanding this.

You are saying I am trying to learn about building inground swimming pool.

I have a  hand shovel why is it taking so long to make a hole big enough for the pool.

Well now you have learned a gpu is like digging an unground pool with a hand shovel.

Move on to a bulldozer.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/294159606061?hash=item447d47612d:g:OFEAAOSwcExgka1U

note that is  first one that popped up in the search on ebay. I am not telling you to buy it.

this is like 80 of your gpus.

it burns 800 watts

80 of your gpus will burn about 12000 watts maybe 16000 watts.

ok so i am guessing that kind of answers my question? the 650 kH/s is the max speed of my GPU? because my GPU is sitting at like 2% utilization

The max speed of your GPU is irrelevant. Given what you are trying to do has been obsolete since 2015 when ASIC's took over Scrypt mining, there are no Scrypt optimized miners for any cards since then I'm surprised you managed to get it working at all. If you really want to GPU mine DOGE, simply mine what is most profitable for your cards to an exchange address and trade it for DOGE. That way you are utilizing your GPU's to their fullest potential and not wasting time trying to mine Scrypt with GPU's.

Seems Elon musk created such a stir with his Doge pumping. People wanting to mine Doge with their Antminer S9's, people wanting to mine Doge with their RX 580 and now someone wanting to mine Doge with their 1080 instead of just mining ETH. All these threads started in the last 24 hours pretty much.

650KH/s is a pretty standard speed. An Radeon 7970 back in 2013 hashed Doge at like 650KH/s and was fully optimized. So your 1080 running with an unoptimized algo is pretty consistant with 650KH/s. Maybe after some tweaks you can get 1MH/s and that's the limit. Reason why nobody bothered because the network is controlled by ASICs. So would be a total waste to mine with GPUs.

Just mine ETH with your GPU and sell ETH for Doge if you want Doge.

Good luck.

Enough with all these doge mining,if you don't have ASIC just forget it or rather buy Dogecoin on exchange and hold, rumour has it that Musk (doge angel) will pump the coin even more probably push it to 1$+ and I don't just believe in that coin anyways, if GPU is all you have left then mine ETH and use your ETH to buy DOGE, easy as ABC

To answer your question - YES that is the max youll do.  It was NOT uncommon for people to have endless gpu racks minign scrypt coin. I myself had the r2x cards and about 10 of them gave me a has rate of about 5 M/h for some ridiculous power consumption of well over 1500w.

Then I bought a Zeus Thunder and that thing did 30M/H whilst consuming around 1000-1200w (I can still see this thing sitting there on the shelf - still works)

After a while, I decided to buy the L2 scrypt miners, they never came out, and got refunded in LTC - and then it mooned to 300 bucks - so I got well more back then I invested in the miner....

then I bought some L3+ scrypt miners and Iver been mining ltc/.doge with them ever since - they do 500M/H for 800watts

That shoudl answer your question about if your graphic card is good or not - as it doesn't matter if its good or not, these answers for has rate for scrypt for gpus is about 8 years ago - you caan search there as a reference point - most people here are not the old miners and cant give you this answer.  Ergo - you are asking for information NO ONE gives a shit about and hasnt since 2012.  Search for it instead in this forum.

I have a question for you....What are you trying to learn?

Are you trying to learn how to mine DOGE?
Are you trying to learn how to use a GPU to mine any SCRYPT based coin?
Are trying to learn how to mine anything with a 1080?

1) Don't use a GPU for DOGE
2) You already know how to mine SCRYOPT based coins with your 1080. You are using the right type of software, and getting valid hashes.
3) Start by benchmarking all the ALGOS CCminer supports, collate all the hashrates, and then do some research to see if those hashrates make it worth mining any coin.

With regards to simply learning, make sure to download a tool like MSI Afterburner. I tend to find although the hashrate drops slightly that MOST algos can stand POWER LIMIT lowering substantially, and therefore your overall efficiency can be raised considerable. (i won't disclose which algo, but a coin i am mining at the moment only loses 8% hash for a 40% power reduction - so always have a play with settings)

Good luck

Yeah but why wouldn't you mine a gpu algo coin to learn.  Why waste time on the doge network, you will learn more mining appropriate algos than asic algos like scrypt or sha-256 with cards.

I get people locally also asking me how to mine Doge. The issue is that most people have no idea the difference between a CPU, GPU, and an ASIC. And not only that they have no idea that different coins have different algos.

I keep telling people with Ryzen CPUs to mine XMR. They say they want DOGE and not XMR. I tell them you gotta mine XMR, sell it and buy DOGE. Not other way around. They still want to mine Doge with the CPUs.

Same with people who got decent GPUs like 1080. I keep telling them to mine ETH, sell for Doge. But they are saying they rather mine Doge at a smaller profit than ETH because they say ETH can't go up 1000% like Doge coin. I tell them mine ETH because its most profitable and sell and buy Doge, but they still want to know why they are getting tons of rejected shares when they point their PhoenixMiner software which has ETH algo selected pointed to a DOGE pool.

I have same experience.
After couple discussions I started pointing them to pools where you can select payout in DOGE ( but I hide the fact they are actualy mining ETH and pool sells it ).
Works well so far.

The worst part is that I'm aware of giving advice to do something I'm completely against (I mean selling a useful coin with potential for something so useless).
