I am going to transfer some btc from nano ledger to my coinbase account.  I never sent any btc to coinbase.  When i go to my coinbase account, clicked on bitcoin and it shows a btc receiving address.

However... you don't see the entire address.  Its literally like less than the whole word that is visible?  You see a long address but then it shows ... at the end.  I then copied it and pasted it in nano ledger and it shows an address... but of course you can't see the entire address every single letter on coinbase.

Is there a way to fix this?  I can't imagine thats how it is?

You can just copy that address to clipboard. If you can't see the whole address as you copy it, did you try zooming out your browser? maybe that affects it and that's why it shows "..." at the address that you have. As long as the address you've copied is identical to the first characters, you should be fine or put it first onto the explorer to see if it's a working address and if you haven't deposited any amount on that then it should appear zero balance on the explorer.

Not sure about how the web app works, but the coinbase app doesn't display the whole address as you said. However, there is a copy button next to it which will copy the whole address regardless of what the app shows. If still in doubt, you can scan the qr code.

Anyway, if the pasted address has the same characters as the visible characters on coinbase and your Ledger says it's a valid address then you most likely have copied the right address because it has a valid checksum.

It literally shows like half the entire address?  When i copy and pasted the full address... it showed the other half.

Is that normal?

Why does coinbase not show your entire btc receiving address on one page to view all of it?  That doesn't seem secure at all.

I mean what if you got copy/paste malware or things like that?

Also not talking about the app... im using coinbase on the laptop now and it displays it like this.

I can't recall how coinbase shows it but metamask does that too. I can copy the address by clicking it but the app shows only the start and the end of the address so you can check that those match to the address. Those are usually the numbers and letters i check anyway so i don't find it weird.

Don't worry too much about it. Copy the address and paste it somewhere. Match first and last few characters and if they are exactly as they are in Coinbase then you do not need to worry at all. It's an exchange they have given you a custodial wallet. So after sending the coins if you see the address does not have the coins any more then do not get scared. As long as the funds are showing in your account you have the coins. Just my 2 cents so that in the next step you do not get scared after seeing that the address you send do not hold any coins at all LOL

Okay so you mean copy/paste it on chrome or wordpad right?  Then copy/paste it to nano ledger and then look at the device when it show the btc address on hardware device and compare if its same as on chrome or wordpad right?

Yea when i look at the first half of the btc address on coinbase, it matches what i copy/paste.  But the thing is i want to see the full btc address on coinbase instead of it showing half the phrase and then three dots.  I mean why would coinbase do this or i don't see threads about this?

As long as you are browsing on the legit site of coinbase or using their own application that wouldn't be a problem I guess. Try to contact their support instead they might help you at some point and that's more reliable, I'm not saying people responded here aren't helping at all but I guess there's disparity among the information, just my two cents.

If you use the mobile application, you will be able to see the full address. However, seeing the full address is not very important. Coinbase provide QR code and address for deposit cryptocurrency. You can scan and deposit by QR code tooo. Both are safe.

If you do not see the full address but would like to see it, copy the deposit address and paste it into a note.

Do most use mobile app?  I find it amazing on desktop its like this and I don't find any complaints.  Nobody has issue with this?

Also want to make sure.  Does it matter what my coinbase address is such as if its legacy or segwit or native segwit?  I know my btc is in bitcoin segwit on nano ledger... so does the receiving btc address need to be segwit?  How do i know if my btc address on coinbase is segwit?  Or it doesn't matter?

I know you obviously don't send btc from btc address to bitcoin cash address... and things like if you send usdt... you need to make sure they are both on the ETH or Tron or Binance Chain right?

This is not a problem . just click copy. then your full address will be copied. otherwise you can scan QR code which QR will be shows  with address .Coinbase has many more feature. if you copy a bitcoin address on Coinbase  to receive bitcoin and if that wallet receive bitcoin then if you go to copy bitcoin address again, then a new wallet will be generate . Even after generate a new bitcoin address ,if someone  sends you bitcoin in the previus address ,there is no problem also you will receive your bitcoin. This happens with the addresses of all the coins supported by Coinbase like ETH, LTC, ETC, BCH

I don't want to use that qr scan option.  Never done that and don't want to try.

So copy/paste coinbase address to nano ledger good enough?  Good idea to send a very tiny amount of btc from nano ledger to coinbase first to make sure it confirm?  Then send bigger amount?  Also, once that transaction confirms, I can always send that same coinbase btc address right?  Or when i go on btc receiving address, it will show another btc receiving address?  I recalled if you send btc to one address... you can always send btc to that address if that is your btc address right?

I mean is there any issue sending bitcoin segwit to legacy or vice versa.  If it matters my bitcoin receiving address begins with a 3 which i believe is segwit.  And my btc wallet on ledger live is segwit as well.  But if one is legacy and other isn't or vice versa, no concern of that at all right?

Try to zoom out in order to see full address. Besides, copying address already gives you enough number of letters. Do not be so worry. I never check a whole address. I only see a several first letters and the several last letters

You can use QR scanning option, too. Although it is literally that you cant see the address with this method

In their help page, we can see our addresses in full format. They said in web browser just go to Setting - Crypto addresses, and we can add or see addresses that related with cryptocurrency which we want to save. I already tried this and you can find it with that way. I think it is important for people to recheck their recipient address to prevent lose the assets.

just to go wallet - received and click copy its gonna copy entirely all letter that hidden because of that apps . or if you are not sure check on blockchain stats on your address . any existed wallet should appear on the blockchain. i have also had same this problem before in some wallet. or if you are really not feel safe doing that just email coinbase what your problem. its quite weird wellet like coinbase had this issue.

Yes copy pasting the address from coinbase to your Ledger wallet is all you have to do but before sending anything double and triple check both addresses to be sure they are the same.
When you are 100% it's the same address then you can safely send the whole amount in one transaction to save in fees.

Quote
Also, once that transaction confirms, I can always send that same coinbase btc address right?
Yes. According to Coinbase's help page you can reuse the same receiving address as it remains associated with your account but it's not recommended for privacy reasons. It's recommended to generate a new address for each transaction.

Okay im going to send some btc soon from nano ledger to coinbase.  I want to test a tiny btc deposit to my coinbase address since i never sent one to it just in case.  Then i would send a bigger amount.  If im going to test say a l0 dollar btc transfer from nano ledger to coinbase, you would recommend send with a cheap fee right?  Risky to do this with say 5 sat/kb?  Or should i do more?

I just took a look right now and on mempool it shows

Low priority
35 sat/vB
$2.89

Medium priority
56 sat/vB
$4.63

High priority
91 sat/vB
$7.53

About 12 hours ago or a bit more ago, i remembered the low priority was much lower and so were the other ones.  So basically if you are not in a rush, check this site to see what is the low priority, medium priority and high priority correct?

Im looking at the latest transactions and it seems almost everyone is putting at least 20 sat/vb with the majority of the fees being like 80 sat/vb.  That is normal right when thats how the low/medium/high priority fees look like now?  So that is why i almost see no transaction like last night when many fees were around 5 sat/vb?

Also is there a way to see the transactions without it going so fast like on mempool?  I want to look for people who pay a low transaction fee like say 20 sat/vb or less... and are sending say up to 5000 dollars for example.  Like i just copied and paste this transaction

https://mempool.space/tx/6bc68b7e4b8fda1cf03aac76ec5b9fb1d22eb44a67efd524dc5c6a62c04ded2e

So this person paying

Fee   3,859 sat$2.26
Fee rate   17.2 sat/vB

‎0.08661796 BTC or around 5000 usd.

I see it immediately shows ETA is l0 minutes or l block.  Then a minute later... 20 minutes or 2 blocks.   Im going to see how long it takes for this transaction to confirm.  So after it shows l confirmation on the transaction, its pretty much confirmed right?

In their help page, we can see our addresses in full format. They said in web browser just go to Setting - Crypto addresses, and we can add or see addresses that related with cryptocurrency which we want to save. I already tried this and you can find it with that way. I think it is important for people to recheck their recipient address to prevent lose the assets.

I went to help... but where it his page with the addresses?  Is it under coinbase or pro or custody or more?  I checked all of them and cannot find this.  I don't even see settings.

We will only have answers coming from speculation if you ask us because Coinbase will be the only one to know the real answer but if you ask them you might be able to have a reply regarding "security reasons".  I'm guessing it has something to do with preventing the users on copying the address via click and dragging the whole address from which I have seen many newbies failed to copy the whole address that is why maybe Coinbase implemented the support of having a copy to clipboard function to prevent newbie mistakes like this one.
