I think all of the things you list at the beginning are only useful one the individual themselves has decided the gambling is a wasteful act to be avoided if they seek long term prosperity. I believe that at the end of the day it is the persons choice if he would going to make himself undergo in recovery or if he wanted to be treated by his gambling addiction.
