Hi,

I have some part of a bitcoin in a old wallet format from 2013. The wallet is Bitcoin Core.

I want to transfer the bitcoin to my new Edge Wallet and i think about using Electrum for this. What would be the best way to do this safely?

I already extracted my private key in Bitcoin Core at an offline PC.

I was thinking of opening this private key in electrum on an offline pc and sign a transaction and use this on a online pc to transfer the bitcoin to my edge wallet.

However, there a so many options i do not know what would be the best and safe method.

Can anyone give me a step by step instruction on how to do this?

Thank you very much!

Import the private keys on your offline PC and you should get all the addresses, at the starting wizard, select "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys". Copy all of the Addresses down and import it into an Electrum on another computer with an internet connection, using the same way but with addresses this time. You'll be able to see all of the transactions in the wallet and that is your watch-only wallet. Go to Send and input all the parameters accordingly and press Pay. Adjust the fees accordingly at the lower right corner and press finalize.

After finalizing your transaction, go to Export > Export to File. Transfer it to that offline computer, go to Tools>Load Transaction and select the file. Load it and check the transaction again, afterwhich press Sign and Export to file again, Export > Export to File. On the online computer, press Tools>Load Transaction and select the txn file. After that, check the details again before pressing broadcast.

The offline computer should ideally be cleanly wiped and has never had internet access before. Do validate your Electrum installation with PGP beforehand as well.

If you extra PC you can make a watch-only wallet where you can make an unsigned transaction.

Just copy the public key/address of the imported wallet from your offline Electrum wallet and then paste/import the public key/address to your Electrum on Extra PC that connected to the internet.

Then make an unsigned transaction on Electrum online from your extra PC image below for reference.

After that look for export and you can use the copy or export to file.

Once you have them a file or the copy of the raw transaction transfer it to your offline PC and import it to the Electrum sign the transaction. Follow the image below

Now sign the transaction and export it again and transfer it back to online PC and import it to Electrum and then broadcast the transaction.

Oppsss. ranochigo is faster than mine. Anyway, if you can't follow his guide then you can follow mine and the images above are easy to follow.

Thank you for your quick response!

I will try it first with a very small amount and if it works will try full amount.

Any idea on the fee that you have set?

Thanks

Any idea on the fee that you have set?
The network isn't very congested now.
10-15 sat/vbyte should be enough for a fast confirmation (in 1-2 blocks)

You can use mempool.space for estimation of the required fee.
Just note that the required fee is dynamic and can change over time.

The other option (the best one, in my opinion) for fee estimation is Johoe's website. But it may be a bit complicated at the first look.
Using this website, you can know the exact position of your transaction in the mempool.
Note that transactions are prioritized based on their fee/byte and every block include the top 1 MB of transactions.
