I have been visiting the forum since a while. I like reading things that I need to help learning about bitcoin technology, tips and tricks but I am so anonyed to see everywhere users are fake, not all so please excuse me if you are not in that category.

Fake I mean when they are in a conversation they do not even read what the other person wrote just before them, they don't see what others are posting. They visit a topic then make their own posts, ask questions which are already there or they just elaborate someone else's post. Most of these people do not even add any value to their posts.

I noticed even hero, legendary members are doing this same.

It's annoying to see a topic about someone who is only few weeks inactive, it's annoying to see Elon musk related topics, it's annoying to see Roger var doing this and that and topics about it, it's annoying to see I have ranked up and now I am writing because you need inspiration, it's annoying to see bitcoin is dumping and more than 10 topics about it.

Few users are like this:
I have no idea about <subject of the topic> but I can tell you about <a made up subject that they just thought of>. I was < add 100 to 150 words explaining the subject he is comfortable to talk about>

After looking at their history you will realize that they are doing it from years. No real value provided in these long years. Just posting it like a bot everyday following a routine.

Is it really necessary?

They visit a topic then make their own posts, ask questions which are already there or they just elaborate someone else's post. Most of these people do not even add any value to their posts.
I did noticed this too, but I think it is when post thread is already long enough in a way the user can not read all the replies, but some are even annoying at times when the person should have know answers would have been in the present replies but yet not reading through but replying what has already been obviously answered. Sometimes, you just have to ignor such posts, while some can be annoying to the extent it deserves reporting it.

I noticed even hero, legendary members are doing this same.
If you think any post deserves to be reported, just click on the report button at the lower right side of each post to easily report it, no rank is above report.

It's annoying to see a topic about someone who is only few weeks inactive
The last I noticed was a member that is 2 to 3 months inactive, but tagging such account a neutral tag would have been better, and such account needs monitoring in case of...

it's annoying to see Elon musk related topics
This can happen because his tweet has effect on bitcoin price, there are some of the topic about Elon but yet not similar and can bring about different replies. But if you see opening post thread the same as one already posted, then report it. I do not hesitate to report such post. I do also post under the new similar topic the link of the already existing topic, pasting the link so that the thread creator can lock the new thread and join the old one.

it's annoying to see I have ranked up and now I am writing because you need inspiration
They are not only doing it because of inspiration, they are doing it to also receive merit, as a form of 'I have tried and contributed on this forum'. This will make some people and merit sources to merit them, some people including merit sources that have not really noticed them before can even because of this go through their topic and post history to award them some merits, if they have done good and contributed to this forum, I believe they deserve it.

it's annoying to see bitcoin is dumping and more than 10 topics about it.
Report such opening post threads like I explained above, if the thread has no reply already, post the link the the already existing one and ask the person that created the thread to lock it. This will not even let other people to post under such thread.

Because these users have no interest in having a conversation or contributing to the discussion at hand. All they care about is making the required number of posts in as little time as possible to fulfil their bounty campaign's quota, and the bounty campaigns are happy to pay for complete trash because their made up tokens are free to print. Why waste time reading the replies which came before you when you can just churn out any two line nonsense and get paid for it?

Until we actually enforce the rules regarding campaigns on both the spamming users and the bounty managers and projects which enable them, nothing will change.

Spam posting can be followed algorithmically: sample experiment

Low-depth thread: take from some general knowledge or any previous post and revise a few words here and there. If the length is not sufficient, simply repeat the same position using synonyms or add unnecessary padding.

Medium-depth thread: take from some surface-level discovery or agree with a previous post, restating the same ideas and adding a sliver of a vague opinion.

High-depth thread: what are you doing here?
For those that are aimed at high frequencies of postings, they will want to look toward simply-titled threads with 10+ pages. In these spam megathreads, one can simply read from the title, craft a response without reading the thread, and post their reply without a second thought. It's not as if anyone is going to read it, anyway!

Yep, I'm guilty of this from time to time myself.  Sometimes I don't read the entire thread before I post, and I end up posting something that someone very similar to something someone else had suggested or said.  I try to not do that, but I don't always succeed.

And yeah OP, this is a problem that has been going on for years.  It's one of the first things I noticed about the forum even before I registered here.  A lot of it has to do with signature campaigns and people not reading enough.  A lot of members who are in campaigns/bounties are in a rush to drop posts as quickly as they can, so they don't read anything before posting.  You'll see a lot of that in sections like Bitcoin Discussion and every section dealing with altcoins.  Unfortunately there's really nothing any of us can do about it except to not contribute to the problem ourselves.  You can't force people to read all the posts in a thread before posting, and unless a post is of very low value mods won't delete it.

All they care about is making the required number of posts in as little time as possible to fulfil their bounty campaign's quota, and the bounty campaigns are happy to pay for complete trash because their made up tokens are free to print.

It's not just bounty campaigns, there are plenty of high ranking members in the most reputable signature campaigns that do the same the thing.  It's less obvious when the member has decent writing skills and makes comprehensible posts, but there's enough blame to spread around.

Yep, I'm guilty of this from time to time myself.

Self assessment and acknowledgment of our faults is a hard step to take, but once we make that difficult leap half the battle is won.  We all have our lapses in judgement, misinterpret something that was said in a previous post, or simply overlook a point that was already made.  Topics evolve, and sometimes we're interested in responding the original subject, but not the tangential subjects to which the topic has evolved.  As long as we're making pertinent and constructive posts that contribute to the discussion we're making the forum better.

You are not alone in your irritations. This topic has been discussed many times. And in my experience, all the recurring topics in which the same news is discussed suggests that there is a stupid search for merits. Such authors can be seen from afar. I often try to read not only the topic that is being created but also the history of the author's posts. Sometimes the story is much more interesting, this story is very clearly visible, as you say, all fake posters.
It's just that as you grow older, you will stop paying attention to it. Or, on the contrary, declare war on spammers and be a successful reporter.
The first step to change something depends on us.
If you don't do something that annoys you so much today, the forum will probably be one person better.

Signature campaigns can make people act really stupid and write bs without spending a minute to read previous comments or thinking a minute before writing something.
Best thing would be if people would write only in topics they are interested but instead we see 20 zero value topics about elon musk and how bear or bull market started.

It is a bit annoying to wade through metric tonnes of raw sewage in order to find the occasional thought-provoking post. There's a few sections where the mods/community simply don't tolerate it, and they are arguably the more important sections of the forum.

The best solution is to create an ignore list so big that you can't access it from your profile.

I noticed even hero, legendary members are doing this same.
Yep, I'm guilty of this from time to time myself.  Sometimes I don't read the entire thread before I post, and I end up posting something that someone very similar to something someone else had suggested or said.  I try to not do that, but I don't always succeed.

I have done this at times because I have thought to myself "yeah they said it, but saying it this way is better"
It's a bit of ego and a bit of English is not everyone's 1st or even 2nd language.

And while I agree that there a lot of posting going on to keep up with a signature campaigns, a good manager will keep that in check. I have no illusions about the fact that if Hhampuz thinks I am starting to spam I will be kicked out of the current campaign that I am in faster then I can blink.

There is also a lot of this that I have mentioned a few times:

I actually commented about this a while ago. Would have to go dig up my post but essentially you would have one of your 3 accounts post a question / comment that has been responded to many times before, then you have your 2nd account reply with a legitimate answer. Then the 3rd chimes in with the "this has been discussed before" comment. The 1st then replies thanks and the thread stops there more or less. But you got 2 posts in from one account and 1 post in from the 2 other accounts.

Do that a few times a week and you can make your post counts for a sig campaign.

*Yes, it seems a bit dishonest to comment about doing that while wearing a sig but the point is still valid.

No matter how we individually classify what we believe is innocuous content or fake conversations, the real question is how we help make this situation change.

Nobody is exempt from making shitpost, none, the important thing is that in each new post the try to do it better occur and that is reflected in the collective result, which is what in my case I appreciate and find in the forum in some posts and in a group of users.

$6=one line / post<>a lot of being kicked out lately, too bullshit. / VERY FUNNY.

miningsetup <> Let it be, this is a forum, there are 10,000 minds here almost all countries <> <> ignore the best solutions <> nothing can hold the waves in the ocean.
Latching onto <> conclusions of causality without positing alternative origins <> results in restrictive thinking

I wish it was as easy as, "if the data or conclusion do not fit the hypothesis, reject the data and conclusion until hypothesis is proven."
Though, I think things would operate very differently if it was indeed so.

Score! Another +$6 that I gain. This post was created solely for this signature campaign, nothing more. Only my financial benefit matters, for I am concentrated on signature campaigns!

Consider it an exercise of imagination, or of free thinking: your ability to consider alternatives should theoretically expand your prospective options. ≥0

New discoveries are more likely to be discovered if you look for them. That's why infallibility is something to avoid in your conclusions. Wink

Fake I mean when they are in a conversation they do not even read what the other person wrote just before them, they don't see what others are posting.

They are mainly signature spammers who do this but if a thread has 100 pages, I cannot expect them to go through all those pages either. The best way to deal with such users is to use the "ignore" button.

I noticed even hero, legendary members are doing this same.

They also get away rather easily, no one dares to report a post made by someone of high rank for some reason while everyone is read to bash the newbies. We need to be rational if even speaking against a big name or person or even rank.

.... it's annoying to see Elon musk related topics .... it's annoying to see bitcoin is dumping and more than 10 topics about it.

I have no problem with those because if you have an interest in ice-creams you cannot suppress people who like hot chocolate. Everyone has their own choices and a forum cannot work according to what an individual likes. I personally love reading about Elon Musk because of the way he has influenced the crypto market recently. People have invested their money and time on bitcoins so if it's dropping you cannot stitch their mouth and force them to caln down and hodl.

TL;DR Most people are just writing nonsense to get paid.

Sorry to say but what you just posted is another example of what irritates him. Without reading the replies you just said the same thing which the above users already said. You are NOT a spammer I know, but that is what happens with most users. No one has the time and energy to go through several pages, here it's the first page and you are using TL'DR so imagine if it was 20 pages.

According to me we need to start using the ignore button more often and we're good. With the requirement of merits there are not many new members who can spam the forum so if you once take a day and ignore all the spammers, I think you are good.

There is a certain level of jealously involved here, if you go to the market and people are talking shit you don't care but because it's a public forum and you feel bad others are earning doing it, you start complaining about it.

Since only forum mods can see how reported who, I see no reason not to report post made by some high ranking member in case of  shitpost/offtopic/whatever. I did my share of such reports, and in most cases mods deleted/moved not just posts, but the whole topics.

Agree on this, ignore button is seriously underused here, but that's not just specific for bitcointalk, but on the many other forums as well. People simply like to argue, write nonsense and respond to trolling, no matter whether they are paid for such posts or not. On this forum they do that (especially repeating what's been said before) a bit more than on the others, but what 20 years of forum activity taught me is that its just how it goes on these discussion platforms.

The reasons vary from one user to another, but signature campaigns are responsible for most of this spam, especially those that require a minimum number of posts per week, otherwise you will be removed.
Some people are trolling and others may not have understood the topic well and responded based on the title of the topic.
In general, banning spam is impossible and keeping it to a minimum with lots of good posts is required.
