I did some searching and couldn't really suss out whether the AUC3 cable is proprietary or not. It seems to me like a standard fem/fem jumper cable, but the clipping mechanism is different.

Has anyone been able to source this cable outside of Canaan manufacturing? I need to purchase around 600, which is a non-trivial quantity when they are charging $10 each.

It is a standard 5-pin SPI/I2C female-to-female data cable. Just do a search on Amazon or other site for that, maybe include the word Avalon in the search. Only thing to pay attention to is the connector size. (measure it in mm). 10$ per cable is actually a decent price but you *might* be able to do better from a place like DigiKey, Mouser or Newark where you get bulk price breaks.

If you don't need the locking tab you might be able to source some old CD audio cables.
Note neither one of these will work but you get the idea:

Back in the day when the 821 / 841 came out I ran out of AUC3 and grabbed some generic versions of the above from my local PC shop. Worked for years till I got rid of the miners.
Check around you might be able to find a bunch for very little money.

Thanks for the responses guys. I ended up just doing a batch order from Alibaba--never ordered from them before so will see how it goes.

I looked on DigiKey, Mouser, and Newark but couldn't find anything. Here is the only site I located them on, but they are only 4-wire:

https://www.robotshop.com/ca/en/8-4-pin-i2c-connector-cable-4pk.html

From my searching it seems like these cable styles are intended for Arduino build outs. I am sure this is not the only cable they could have designed around. If you ask me, I think Canaan probably deliberately chose a cable that is difficult to source so they could have a nice income stream on additional cables, but I don't blame them.

I'll look into the CD audio adapter cable if we need some back ups.  Grin

those will not work because they are 4-pin connectors, the Avalons use 5-pin ones, the 5th pin is for the cable shield.
