You must learn to adjust your goals depending on the pace of the market like when you are aiming for huge gains, go for long. If for just a few, then go for short. Not just that, but do not set an overly exaggerated goal specially for short term. If for long term, better to invest funds that you can easily live without so that you can let it sit there without having to worry about it like a mad dog. Even in shorts, I do not recommend gambling with capital that you may need the next day.
