Hodl is the key because the value of the altcoins that you hodl depreciate however the amount of your hodling is still the same. As long as you did not sell off your hodling the amount will still the same and the value will definitely goes up once again just need to wait and have patience.

I will have to disagree with you here, holding will be the key if we were talking about bitcoin, but this is not the case since we are talking about altcoins, now ethereum and ada could recover but I am not so sure about the other two coins, I know it is difficult to accept but this is simply the way things are when it comes to altcoins since you need to always be ready to sell them in the case something goes wrong as it was the case when we saw such a correction.

Definitely you really cannot avoid those situations where you have invested in certain amounts of cryptocurrency but as the price gets lower the value gets lower as well. If you are patient enough you will realize that this is perfectly normal behavior. The coins that you purchased stayed at the same amount. A bitcoin is a bitcoin, 10 million shitcoins will remain 10 million shitcoins, and if the price you want needs a long time to reach then you wait for that long time.

I also lost some of my gains when the prices drop down because I wasn't able to monitor the prices since I was too busy with my job. However, I have learned to deal with this kind of situation for my years of investing with crypto. I learned to hodl instead of panicking because we can't do anything if the prices drop down since that's how the market goes. We should keep in mind that things like this could happen anytime and we only have to deal with it with patience.
