Just when you thought it was safe to venture outside again…Newsweek magazine has unleashed a hysteria-inducing cover story for the May 21-28 issue, calculated to inject a little pandemic anxiety back into your summer plans, while garnering reads by fear-porn aficionados.

The not-so-original cover tag, “Winter Is Coming,” appeared over a bleak blue winter scene featuring spiked COVID virus instead of snowballs and fearsome predictions underlined for effect: “No herd immunity.” “Deadly new variants.” “Why scientists predict another COVID surge.” Eek!

Even as the Centers for Disease Control miffs liberals with surprising new guidance that fully vaccinated people can shed their masks, Newsweek is repackaging pandemic fears (lockdowns! travel restrictions!) in a dramatic cover story.

The online headline deck: “Forget Herd Immunity! Winter COVID Surges Will Bring Lockdowns, Travel Bans, Crammed ICUs.” The alarmism by Newsweek’s Fred Guterl was accompanied by plenty of cheap shots against Republicans.

    As India descended into a COVID-19 tragedy that dwarfed anything the country had experienced in the pandemic so far, with hospitals inundated, oxygen supplies short and vaccines reportedly being stolen from warehouses, American politicians thousands of miles away were clamoring to end pandemic restrictions.

    Representative Jim Jordan railed at Dr. Anthony Fauci in the House chambers, “You don’t think Americans’ liberties have been threatened in the last year, Dr. Fauci? They’ve been assaulted!” Alabama Governor Kay Ivey told Fox News, “We have been at this for more than a year now, and we have simply got to move forward. Endless government mandates are not the answer.”

    Many Americans are eager to invite friends for a barbeque, belly up to a crowded bar, attend concerts and eat dinner in popular restaurants. Texas and Florida opened beaches and bars in early May….

Nobody knows the future. But it doesn't look like people are heeding God's big warning through Covid - what He can allow to happen if we don't turn back to Him. If we aren't going to seek God, He just might send on us a real plague, rather than the Covid fake one. Probably, that's what the vaccines are.

God used to protect us from the medical, even though we thought that the medical was helping us. But those of who turn away from Him, are losing their protection.

Surely God did not know the difference between an open system and a closed one. He thought to have created a world where from the previous causes all effects could be deduced, and where therefore, time would be reversible. The thought of this God is too simple to have created such a complex world.

The prediction of weather has improved a lot from a few decades ago to now, but there are some degrees of freedom in the system that escape the God you refer to.

Of course, big pharma can't make money out of healthy people, so they pay the governments to reduce the effectiveness of this immunity. I am amazed when I see the reports of the success they are having, and the stupidity of people who reduce their life spans, and health, by buying poisonous pharma products.

While I don't trust Big Pharma to be angels, as I've reflected in several posts, it seems to me that you're going a bit too conspiratorial.

In reducing mortality and increasing life expectancy, the pharmaceutical industry has played an important role, as has medicine. If we had depended on the immune system alone, we would not have reached today's life expectancy with almost 8 billion people living on earth.

The interesting thing about all this is, we are not body, only. Our spirits are connected to it all. So, when we spiritually turn away from the Spirit of God Who sustains us, and believe medical lies instead... how much of this slap in His face is God going to put up with?

Data indicate that the existing vaccines are highly effective against existing variants. I can share it all again if you wish.
I would imagine that the long-term strategy is for annual boosters to combat any new vaccine-resistant variants, should any arise - much as flu is treated currently. This is hardly unprecedented or controversial.

Herd immunity isn't possible with "natural immunity" either. If variant forms of Covid start circulating, the world gets to have round 2 of Covid, Covid-21 maybe!

Basically, your natural immunity won't give you any edge over a variant if the variant is genetically different. You won't have any antibodies to fight the variant form, the proteins of the virus will be different and unrecognizable by your adaptive immune system. The idea of a vaccine was to prevent people from harboring the virus and allowing it to mutate.

So even if you're right that the vaccine is useless against variants (which isn't true), it's a better method than doing nothing.

Except... we do know what happens if nobody does anything, because that is precisely what caused the pandemic to escalate beyond control. I've linked to the image below before, but it deserves another airing.

I don't know if it's because of the short election cycle, or 24 hour news coverage encouraging a pathological focus only on what is wrong right now, or simple bumbling incompetence... but governments are short-termist, and almost entirely reactive rather than proactive. It was obvious to anyone back in early 2020 what would happen if we did nothing - obvious, that is, to anyone with a basic grasp of a) how exponential progression works, and b) the fact that there is a delay between catching a virus and exhibiting symptoms... which should, you'd hope, include the people running the country.

In the UK, we watched the virus spread in China, then we watched it come across to Europe, and hit Spain and Italy hard... and yet the government didn't implement any border controls until later, once the virus had already arrived here and started spreading - and even then these controls were rudimentary and insufficient. This initial failure then triggered a series of strict lockdowns... which could have been avoided with simple proactive border controls and an acceptance of the comparatively minor economic hit.

We also know exactly what would have happened if, as soon as it became a problem in China, all other countries had enforced strict two-week quarantining (not at home, but in dedicated facilities) and Covid testing for everyone entering the country. The outcome would have been: no lockdowns, no need for masks, etc... no virus entering the country.

People who already took vaccine doses are still getting infected with the covid 19 even the second time as well in some cases so the covid is not the same covid-19 anymore we need to find all the circulating variants now before finding the vaccines for them.

Herd immunity is difficult to achieve. I tried to maintain immunity from the herd mentality, but they keep trying to force their stupidity onto me. They don't seem to realise that if vaccines really worked, then it wouldn't matter what I did. It just seems they are jealous of the fact that I am healthy and they aren't, and this is despite the fact that I avoid all pharmaceuticals. If vaccines really worked, then it wouldn't matter if I have not been vaccinated. They should be pleased that I don't place any demands on the NHS, and leave beds free for their stomach bands, and self-induced heart problems.

Wack, seems to be not true. I looked at the todays statistics by country with good records of vaccination, Israel - zero cases , U.S. - three times less cases  compared with numbers shown  three months ago. This convinces  me that vaccines work as it should be. Variants are not too much different, all of them contain s-protein - the basic marker for vaccines to build body barrier  against them.

In practice, there are many people who want to receive a vaccine, but have not been offered one yet. These people are currently unprotected, and are at risk of contracting the virus from anti-vaxxers passing it on.
The purpose of vaccination is not solely to protect the individual. Personal choices have a wider impact.

Certainly some small minority of people who have received the vaccine can transmit the virus. Obviously, most of which will be during the short window between receiving the vaccine and it taking full effect. And obviously, almost all amongst people who have had only one dose of a two dose programme. Because this is not a secret, it's known and publicised by governments and the vaccine companies.

And even then, with a full two doses and a window for them to take effect, vaccines are not 100% effective for everybody... but they are a hell of a lot closer to 100% than doing nothing, which is 0% protective.
